Good Living Pyrmont Grower's Market: July 2008
2008-07-06 15:39:00
Every morning it's a fight, for someone who counts sleeping as one of her main fortes, it not easy getting up to go to the markets early on a lazy Saturday morning. Even when I am completely aware that the rewards of going to the markets far outweigh sleeping in till midday, somehow this rationale doesn't seem sensible enough when still tucked in the confines of a toasty bed.But this weekend was different, seeing as this Saturday would be my last opportunity to visit to the Good Living Grower's Markets at Pyrmont Bay Park before I head overseas, I mustered up just enough coherence to pry myself from the snug confines of my bed. Slowly but surely, thoughts of what spoils could be gained from an early visit to the markets, began to ease me into waking life. Most of the usual fare and wares were on show with the exception of a new beef stand peddling their gourmet sausages (which was quite good) and from my cloudy recollection a new patisserie stall. But other than that the markets c...
Living Primitively

I have long believed after many years of study, that mankind is going to revert back to Stone Age living. This will be the inevitable outcome of the depletion of global energy supplies (oil, coal, nature gas, uranium). Not long ago, I came across a quote (posted here) that pointed out that we have long since ...

Living stress free
2008-06-10 10:45:00
Living stress free by Dr. Wasantha Gunathunga Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, The other day I met a friend of mine. He said "I decided to migrate to a better country." I asked why he wanted to migrate. "There are lots of problems in the country. I want to give the best education to my children. I asked "what do you want them to be in the future"? He was not sure. "After all I want to live in peace" was his answer. My friend is not the only person who decided to migrate for peace of mind. There were so many, there will be too. This conversation provided me some insight as to how some people take serious decisions in their lives in search of peace and 'contentment. People migrate to greener pastures citing various aim to do so. Some people within the country mostly towards cities. Those who live in cities go to villages to get away from the busy life....

2008-06-05 09:22:00
Most people like to travel; like to learn from their journey, like to get out from their living place, and see what is going on at the other corner of the world. There are people working extreme hard so that they can afford to bag pack to some famous ancient places. China, India, Africa, you name it. People gain valuable knowledge when they step out from their homes. History has been overwritten by travelers from generation to generation so that we can just learn the knowledge sitting in front of our computers. If you have the chance to become one of them, where will you be visiting?Living Passages is an organization which specializes in Christ centered projects and events. It always partner with media companies, conference organizers and ministries. Its concept is to help everyone to learn and to achieve their goals along with the footstep of Bible through travelling, for example, travelling with Christian Cruises. This is Living
2008-06-03 21:24:00
We started travelling from Castel Gandolfo at 10.30. It was raining hard and had been for quite some time. Our host not only drove us to the train station, he gave each room a bottle of wine only asking that we didn't drink it on the train. The ticket office was closed so we expected to pay our fares on the train but in the event we met no inspectors,, ticket sellers or problems and got to Rome for free. of course, the fare for Naples was far from free. The Express was initially delayed, but we kept our eyes open and, avoiding the baggage buggies and the hordes of disembaking passengers, we eventually made it to our carriage (a train would have helped to get us there). we had booked adjoining seats (there were five of us), but they weren't so adjoining when we found them. even then an irritable Italian couple tried to oust us from them, but brandishing our ticket we stood our ground. The Italian man went off to rob some guy's magazine.(As I write an American couple are ta...

Living Mobile Critter Crunch
2008-06-03 15:16:00
Living Mobile Critter Crunch 240x320 v1.0.1 S60v3 J2ME Having a pest problem is never a pleasant experience. Nature has thrown up a wide variety of troublesome creatures that possess an uncanny knack of making your life a misery. The usual solution is to call in the professionals, but for cuddly jungle inhabitant Biggs – who finds his beloved homestead invaded by a wide range of irksome critters – flicking through the Yellow Pages for a local exterminator simply isn’t an option.Thankfully, our fluffy hero is equipped with a more graceful solution. The pesky critters that have encroached on his precious living space come in a range of sizes and although Biggs may bear a passing resemblance to a hairball, he’s smart enough to know that big things eat little things. Such is the way of the world.By lashing out his enormous tongue, he can grab one of the offending critters, store it temporally in his mouth and then hurl it into the waiting maw of a larger pest. These unsa...

Organization and Storage - The Secrets To Peaceful Living
2008-06-02 13:51:00
If your family is anything like the average family who finds themselves with too much stuff and not enough room, take solace in the promise that relaxation is in your near future.   Decide to organize and relieve stress Did you know that clean, organized spaces promote relaxation and reduce stress? Day spas are a prime example of how the right combination of relaxing, cool colors, pleasant music and pleasing scents can send you into a peaceful state of mind. While turning your living room into a spa is not practical, there are ways to stage and organize your entire home so you can come home and enjoy your family, rather than stress about the clutter and mess.   How NOT to bite off more than you can chew The thought of trying to find a place for everything and put everything in its place may bring more stress than just living with it. But the temporary chaos of sorting through things will bring long term benefits to the peaceful environment of your home. Try making a goal ...

HULC Exoskeleton News or Better Living Through Technological Enhancements
2008-06-01 19:17:00
On May 20 we posted a story contributed by Deuce Project friend Amytronic about a robotic exoskeleton that allowed users to lift loads of around 500 lbs. (Here)Well, apparently robotic exo-skeletons are the new thing. Berkeley Bionics has started to accept orders for its HULC (Human Universal Load Carrier) . The HULC is a mobile exoskeleton that allows users to manuever effectively with loads up to 200 lbs.. Another interesting bit from this New Scientist article:More impressively, the 'proprietary technology' within HULC actually reduces metabolic cost. Wearing the HULC, you consume about 5-10% less oxygen when walking than a HULC-less friend. The effect is even more pronounced when carrying a heavy load. The link above also includes video of the device in action. So human enhancements are coming along. Between exoskeletons and body temperature regulating gloves such as the Core Control, human beings seem to be developing a new means of non-organic environmental adapatation. Intere...
