Many of its features, such as the glass-like Aero interface, made their way into the current Vista release. However, the Joejoe group purports that some useful features were removed. That is why they have backtracked Microsoft’s development and created their own release of Windows Longhorn from the original beta versions. Gates made the announcement at Microsofts 16th annual Windows Hardware Engineering Conference (WinHEC), but he did not shed any additional light on when the server will ship. He said the date remains the second half of 2007. The date is key because it also will bring the first public beta of Microsofts new virtualization technology, Windows Server Virtualization (WSV).
