It?s a Funny Thing, Looking Back
2008-07-18 07:54:00
Mariners Magazine, May 2007 If for some reason you can’t read the subtitle there, it reads: “The Mariners filled key holes with the addition of reliever Chris Reitsma, designated hitter Jose Vidro, and starter Horacio Ramirez.” Reading about how those three busts were filling “key holes” with their “unique skill sets” isfunny enough, but it gets better! “I ...
My Testimony: Looking Back at the Grace of God (Part 3)
2008-05-27 06:01:00
The church eventually grew and we purchased a building downtown. The building was an old double movie theatre. I used to laugh and tell my friends that I went to the movies three times a week. They would look at me and then I would explain about the building. While in the youth group one summer we had a youth revival. The man preached a message called ?Don?t Let the Light Go Out?. The sermon was on hell. He had all of the lights off in the auditorium except for one flashing red light. Since our building used to be a theatre there were no windows in the auditorium. It was pitch black. In the background while he was preaching he was playing a tape of people screaming in pain, it sounded like people were falling, and being tortured or in serious pain which was the point. The sound was to be people in hell crying out for relief. At the end of the sermon he shut the light off which represented us dying without Christ and at death we didn?t have any more chances to come to Christ. I felt ...
My Testimony: Looking Back At The Grace of God (Part 2)
2008-05-24 06:01:00
The man knocked on our door and introduced himself as Pastor Brad Cranston. He was the pastor of a church that was recently started and was meeting at the local community college on Sundays and in his home on Wednesdays. The church was an Independent, fundamental, KJV only Baptist Church. He invited us to church and we started attending in the next few weeks. On August 22, 1992 Pastor Brad Cranston came into our home and led me through a prayer in our living room. I didn?t get baptized right away because we had to go to another church to use their baptistery. In October of 1992 Heritage Baptist Church was established and I was a part of the founding day. I remember signing the member roll. For a while my pastor worked a second job to support his family and the small congregation. I can remember going to church and it was the pastor?s family, my family and a hand full of others. One of the jobs my pastor did on the side was to be a substitute bus driver. The year that I was in thir...

Looking Back on the Past Initial Public Stock Offering Process in 1965
2008-05-08 08:09:00
The initial public offering of common stock during the 1965 era is just a manifestation that the IPO process, despite of the heavy legal requirements that must be made, it is still the most ideal way to issue stocks to the public and raise additional capital for a company’s day-to-day business operation. Trees and plants need ...SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Looking Back on the Past Initial Public Stock Offering Process in 1965", url: "http://www.options-university.-biz/blog/options-trading/lookin-g-back-on-the-past-initial-publ-ic-stock-offering-process-in-19-65" });
Love Message - Looking Back -
2008-05-06 15:39:00
Post from: 1 Million Love Messages Love Message - Looking Back - From: Mom, 49, Fayetteville, NC To: Jason Paul, 29, Seattle, WA When I look back over the last 29 1/2 yrs, I am amazed & awestruck at how quickly the time has flown by….but, the heart/spirit doesn’t always recognize the passing of time in quite the same way that our “logical minds” do… It was only “yesterday”, when you were riding your tricycle in the back driveway, playing with your imaginary friends (”Dooney” and “Mayla”) and helping me in our garden, while your big sister was at school….fast forward a few yrs, and you are running into the chain-link fence, the first time the training wheels came off of your bicycle….then a few more years pass, and we are riding off in the early morning hours, each of us on our bicycles, heading off to school and work, riding thru the cool morning mists, with the feeling of “freedom” that comes of riding fast thru the shadows of light and dark, just ...

Stephenville UFO sighting 2008: looking back + latest updates (part 1 of 4)
2008-04-16 22:51:00
I thought it would be an idea, to post all the information, on the stephenville sighting ( 2008 ), in four large parts… so you can look through them much quicker, all in four parts (otherwise 24 links= a bit bland possibly?)…. i had planned on just adding the links, but thought that i would repost them in full again, for much easier reference ( i hope!). As i have not properly reported about what has gone on since my last post on the sighting/sightings, i thought it would be good to catch up in my last part ( part 4 ). As links to external sources are not recent, i am afraid that they may not be available now…. please bear this in mind, as they are now relatively old.   These posts ( as they are relatively large ), will probably take time to load….please be patient. thank you. I have noticed that all Stephenville empire tribune posts: you have to login, and also pay to see the posts… ( i do have the posts archived on computer thoug...
Looking Back At The Class of ‘59 - Jim Worden
2008-04-12 07:47:00
Jim Worden takes us on a nostalgic trip down memory lane and invites us to add our recollections of life in Ossining (which you can do by clicking the post a Comment link at the bottom). Looking Back At The Class of '59 by Jim Worden Unofficial, Self Appointed, Anecdotal Class Historian (with a lot of time on his hands) Looking back over the years, I can see signs wise men saw... Unfortunately, I wasn't one of those wise men. I was just as swept up in day to day events as everyone else, leaving it to 20/20 hindsight to get the proper perspective on what was happening back then. At any rate, come along with me as I take a slightly myopic and perhaps irreverant trip back in time and examine some of our shared experiences. First of all, to put our class and our generation into perspective, we need to realize that we were all born in the first half of the last century! In the same half century that most of our parents were born. And f...

Looking Back at Snow Bird Season
2008-03-25 22:11:00
Florida is still a hot spot for those seeking relief from the cold. Here as SI Real Estate, inquiries were coming in left and right for furnished and seasonal vacation rentals in Tampa and St. Petersburg. Rentals in places like Coquina Key in St. Petersburg, The Moorings in Tarpon Springs, as many others were in high demand and were snatched up early in the snow bird season. All season long we were receiving phone calls from individuals from the Northern US, Canada, Europe, and even Russia. With so many attractions in the Tampa Bay area it is no wonder that so many people want to vacation in Florida. Tampa and St. Petersburg are renowned for their world class beaches, fishing, golf, boating, and dining. And with the Port of Tampa so close, vacationers can easily plan on fitting a relaxing cruise into their schedule. Tampa's central location also puts all the activities of Orlando right at your fingertips. With legendary theme parks such as Disney...
Looking Back At A Decade of Open Source Virtualization
2008-03-12 02:52:00
Will 2008 become the Virtual Year? Thats what some people would have us believe now that the virtualization hype is reaching never before seen heights, and large acquisitions & mergers are starting to become quite common ( Citrix bought Xensource, Novell picked up PlateSpin, Sun acquired innotek, Quest Software snapped up Vizioncore while VMware treated itself to Thinstall, and so on). But few people realize or fail to acknowledge that the large majority of virtualization techniques and developments were started as, or remain Open Source projects. Where are we coming from ?

Looking Back On My First 499 Posts
2008-03-03 01:10:00
Well folks, this is my 500th blog entry. Yes the big 5-0-0, so I figured it was a good opportunity to reflect on my first 499 posts and take a look back. This blog started as a quick way to get up some pictures from my Halloween party on 10/22/2007. Over the last 132 days it has involved into something more than just party photos. For those not so quick with division, that is an average of 3.79 posts per day, which is sort of scary when I think about it. Some thoughts as to why I blog:My blog is a living diary mine and Dale's life (which does not always please Dale). My blog is a place I post things I come across on the interweb (as my friend Becki calls it). My blog is a bit of my own therapy as it allows me to get my feelings, thoughts and inner voices out to the world.I now average anywhere between 50 and 100 visitors per day, which always amazes me because quite honestly I do not even find myself that interesting, but for some reason people seem to keep coming back. Maybe my blo...
Looking Back...
2008-03-03 00:30:00
Well...two months down in 2008 and only 10 to go! When 2008 came around I know many of you had many dreams and aspirations in your head...maybe some of you actually wrote your dreams down on paper. Before we get any further into 2008 let's reflect for a moment. Have any of you taken the action you have needed to reach your goals? If not what are you waiting for?? Are you still thinking 'I have 10 more months till 2009?' Take a minute tonight and write down a daily, weekly, and monthly plan about how you are going to attack what you need to attack to reach your goals. An example: write down my daily goals will be to contact 3 new prospects each day to tell them about my great "idea, product, business venture, etc." Believe me, if you take action and participated in this activity for the next 30 days I am sure you would reap the rewards of your activity. You will also feel good each day if you accomplished this little goal. I just wanted to give you a little kick in the rear and wa...

Looking Back At The 2007 Oscars, Looking Forward To 2008 Oscars
2008-02-24 09:06:00
Last year there were more good dresses than bad dress at the 2007 Oscars. My particular favourite was Nicole Kidman's red Balenciaga gown. A lot of the press, and no doubt many of your hated it, but it was easily my Best Dressed.Queen Cate was regal in Armani Priv.Helen Mirren (in Christian Lacroix), won an Oscar for her role as the Queen, also won Best Dressed Oscar Winner of the night. The other Queen, Queen Latifah, dressed her curves perfectly.Penelope Cruz' Versace dress grew on me as the night wore on. Whilst I fell in love immediately with Emily Blunt in Calvin Klein. The bad are all visually explanatory.Maggie Gyllenhaal's dress did not work for me.I just wanted to pull of Anne Hathaway's bow which threw up all over her Valentino gown."Try hard" and supposed "fresh face" Jessica Biel dress was too big for her and her hair resembled a freshly washed poodle. We will always remember the former American Idol, Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson, as the girl who looked ridiculous in ...

Looking Back at Last Year?s Summer Camp

GeNxT Summer Camp 2007 was quite an interesting experience for me. It was in this camp that I ventured into a bit of Christian apologetics (defense) in my message to campers (around 750 young people for the 1st week and 1,068 for the 2nd week), a large percentage of which are non-believers. The ...

Spy Review - Looking back at October
2008-01-22 10:55:00
For the October review, let’s start off with a spy camera jammer! The Camera and Wifi Jammer transmits on three frequencies, namely on 900MHz, 1.2GHz, and 2.4GHz. These frequencies are the most commonly used frequencies for transmitting spy cameras, not to mention wireless networks that use 2.4GHz. The jammer transmits 300mW of noise on each band which is enough to block the signal of cameras and wifi networks around you, up to a radius of 10 metres. However, the battery only lasts 45 minutes! Looking Back at Iowa's Polls
2008-01-05 00:28:00
The Iowa caucuses are extremely difficult to poll for. Participation requires each individual to commit a decent chunk of time some winter evening to physically attend, listen to speeches, and then vote. For Democrats there are actually two rounds of voting, and participants can change their preference between rounds. An added complication is that Independents can choose to participate in the caucuses, meaning pollsters have to screen these voters to determine which caucus each plans to attend. But the caucuses are over, and the results are in, so it's possible to compare these to the polls to see who did a good job of predicting candidates' totals and who didn't. I'll look only at polls conducted entirely after Christmas, and consider only the last poll from outfits who released multiple polls in that period. Rather than focus on the margins I'll focus on how well each individual candidate's totals were projected, for reasons which should be apparent when you read the a...

2008-01-03 15:41:00
Yesterday I posted select observations about money laundering and terrorist financing looking back at 2007 and forward to 2008. I inadvertently omitted an emerging banking business that warrants discussion. During 2007, Islamic Banking continued a growth trend. Major western banks, as well as international banking capitals are entering the Islamic Banking business. Islamic Banking is growing from a niche market into a global industry. This pattern will continue in 2008 and beyond. Rising Middle East...(read more)

2008-01-02 23:19:00
As 2007 ends and we embark into 2008, a look back at the past year and forward to the coming year offers interesting observations about terrorist financing and money laundering. An issue that has been constant and was certainly prevalent in 2007 in the U.S. financial services sector was Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and U.S. PATRIOT Act reporting requirements. One specific requirement, Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs), has been an area of contention. Current regulations require financial institutions...(read more)

Looking back.....
2007-12-31 22:43:00
Tonight as I have for the past 6 years I will light the fire, pour the red wine and braai my lamb ribs and my cheese and tomato toastie. Tonight I will sit back and reflect on the past year, a year that has been very unkind to me in so many, many ways. And tonight I will let it all go and never look back because it is done, finished and cannot be changed. If anything it has made me stronger and hopefully a better person. Tonight I will look forward to the hope of the year to come; a year that is alive with possibilities not the least of which is a very exciting new business venture which I know is going be very profitable. So I will look to my dream that is once again alive and raise my glass. My dream of working from home and not for some boss, and with people who really have no interest in actually working. I will raise my glass to them too because I do not begrudge them being that way, that's who they are. This new venture, this new possibility, this dream was awoken this mor...

Looking Back, Looking Forward ( Part 2 of 3)
2007-12-31 16:46:00
Last week I started this mini-series as my way of looking back over 2007 without making one of those cliched top 10 lists that seem to be so popular the last weeks of December. This way I'm not confined to the past and I have a chance to look down the road a little bit and talk about what we might expect in 2008 from Google and the Open Handset Alliance. While it was rumored for months, the gPhone never showed up. Instead, his bigger, badder brother, Android, did. Android was the open source operating system that was going to run thousands, if not millions, of ?gPhones?. Designed as an initiative of the Open Handset Alliance (OHA), Android was announced as the platform that would be showing up on handsets made by LG, Motorola, Samsung, and HTC. The OHA is comprised of mobile operators, software companies, commercialization companies, semiconductor companies, and handset manufacturers. Notable names were Intel, Texas Instruments, nVidia, eBay, Synaptics, T-Mobile, Sprint, and of...

Looking back at 2007...
2007-12-31 08:43:00
Boy did 2007 fly by! I?m sitting here like an idiot trying to remember what the hell happened in 2007. Way too much if you ask me. All in all, it's been an alright year.Let?s look back at my life in 2007?I?m gonna be a daddy!! 2007 has given me a baby boy. Ant?s due date is in April. It?s the first time I?m mentioning this in my blog. You know, I like my privacy to a certain degree. And certain things need not be told unless both parties are comfortable. Agreed?I know for a fact that I have not been the best son, a good friend or the finest colleague to work with. But I?m bloody sure that I?m gonna be a good father. I?m gonna give this baby everything I have and possibly can. If it means having two jobs to support Ant and little baby, that?s exactly what I?ll do.With that said, the ROM is on the 22nd of January. It?s a big step for my princess and I. This man-whore is officially retiring!2007 also saw me leave the nightlife industry. It is possibly the best decision I?ve made in a ...
Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360 - looking back in 2007
2007-12-31 04:51:00
From the top of things, it looked like 2007 would be a great year of the consoles. What i loved about 2007 was the competition was so healthy, with great games, new features and lots of other goodies.Nintendo Wii2007 has definitely been the year of the Wii, with the underpowered but innovative little white Nintendo machine killing all comers on the way to the top of the sales chart. The main reason for its success is the accessability, thanks to its control system.
