Some Completely Meaningless Flash Animation Loops
2009-02-18 19:20:00 Every now and then, playing with Flash animations is an itch I've just got to scratch. This time, I looked back on the method I used in one of my earlier tutorials. The next logical step was to write a script that automates the whole process, turning a POVRay scene into a Flash animation in a single step. The script method I used is quite simple: It takes a POVRay scene with the variable "FACT" declared in various places, loops through 0-to-350 for the variable (changing the rotation of abjects controlled by "FACT"), generates the frames, uses Image Magick to crop the frames to 240x240 squares, saves them in sequence, builds the Flash script, and calls the swfc compiler to compile it. Before anybody asks "Why don't you just use png2swf for that last step?" - I tried it, but the animation comes out much choppier. Until...I gave her a bowl of strawberry yogurt.... Then not only did her imagination run wild...but she decided to eat fruit loops. What a weird kid... I cant get her to eat fruit loops unless she can dip them in her yogurt? Future health nut with a sweet tooth? Future neat freak? Future Chef? She is still so tiny she wants to sit in her high chair....but not all the time, she has her big girl moments in the dining room where she sits on her booster seat. I wish she would get bigger...I would love to get that high chair out of my kitchen. LOL She is a whopping 23 pounds. Such a little tiny tot! 2007-07-27 21:58:00 Our house was built in the 1950's so the yard has several large trees that we aren't willing to have removed. So we'll have to go with a vertical loop, which requires a drilling rig. If you have a large area you don’t mind having trenched you can have the loop buried below the frost line (about 4 feet or so). This is called a horizontal loop. Since we don’t have such a space we’ll dig straight down. Vertical wells supposedly cost more but can be put in almost any location without removing any trees.The other cool thing is that once everything is in place nothing will be visible except where the loop tubing goes in the house. So there won't be anything above ground in the yard, not even an A/C unit. This is nice because or backyard is very small and it would be nice to see the A/C unit gone.
