2007-11-27 05:38:00 Loudon Wainwright III is going back in time with Joe Henry, his collaborator on the Knocked Up soundtrack and the album Strange Weirdos.Specifically, the pair have rerecorded a number of songs from Wainwright's first three albums, using Henry's band. Wainwright reports that, "These songs are all over 35 years old. Some of which I had to re-learn again . They were voice-and-guitar records before. So this is kind of a reclaiming of these old songs of mine but with this unit of players that I've really loved to work with. It's pretty cool."While they've kept the same arrangements, the singer admits "my voice has changed radically, so some of them may sound a little different to people. But I wouldn't say we deconstructed anything, particularly. We just re-did 'em, but with these great players."They are currently looking for a label interested in releasing the album, called Recovery, sometime in 2008.

2007-09-17 16:30:00 Ryan Newman produced a strong start to the season's final 10 races, qualifying fifth on Friday afternoon, then coming home ninth in Sunday's Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway. When the green flag dropped, Newman began fighting a tight condition in his car in the centers – a problem he would battle all day – but he was able to hold his ground in the top 10. NASCAR issued a competition caution on lap 36 due to the fact that rain cancelled all practice sessions on Saturday. Newman came in for his first stop on lap 38 for four tires, fuel, one pound out of the left-front tire and two rounds up on the right-side track bar. Newman restarted the race in eighth, but another caution on lap 68 allowed him to come in for a two-tire stop and gain some positions on pit road. 2007-07-02 21:14:00 Denny Hamlin may be behind Jeff Gordon in the overall points standings but Sunday at the Lenox Industrial Tools 300 he was ahead of him when the checkered flag dropped. The gap was only .068 seconds but that as good enough to give Denny his third NASCAR victory of his career and his first in the 2007 season. Hamlin and his crew made a late pit stop gamble and only took on two tires to put him out front and help get him the victory. Denny still trails Gordon in the points standings by 156 points but he felt he needed a win to have a chance to win his first championship. The video above is of the last nine laps of Sunday’s race.
