Louisville Cardinals

Elite 8 Predictions
2008-03-29 22:27:00
EastUNC vs. LouisvilleI've been anticipating this match up ever since the bracket came out. I like pretty much every match up here. Both have some good guards even with Tywon Lawson I will give the edge to Louisville in this department because the Cards are a little deeper. Earl Clark will be a tough match up guard-wise for the Heels. Louisville's guards can give problems to UNC's with their depth and feisty defense. The frontcourt match up should be a dandy. David Padgett vs. Tyler Hansbrough; Both are physical players but I will once again give a slight edge to Louisville. Should be a great game. The Pick: Louisville- yes I am picking them. I like their guard depth, their demanding defense, and Padgett down low.WestUCLA vs. XavierUCLA's gotten away with some close calls lately, but they still win it because of their defense and experience, plus Kevin Love has been a huge factor as well. They'll need everyone to step up for their next game or they could be eliminated. Xavier is...
Tennessee Volunteers, you make me sick to my stomach! Bruce Pearl, how bou
2008-03-28 15:59:00
Well, my bracket is totally screwed.  Not only did Georgetown take a big, fat doodie on my bracket, now Tennessee comes right behind them and did the same thing.  Losing last night to Louisville in a game that was not even close.  As I watched Bruce Pearl continue to do his non-coaching and watch Rick ...
UConn Women Hold On To Win Big East Championship
2008-03-12 03:30:00
It was a tale of two halves for the UConn women’s basketball team. The first half saw them take a 15-point lead into the locker room while the second half saw them shoot poorly and have to survive a late Louisville run. But in the end, the Huskies prevailed as they beat the Cardinals 65-59 at the XL Center to win the Big East Women’s Tournament Championship. Charde Houston was named the Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. And no, that is not a typo nor did I “mishear” it like Roger Clemens thinks Andy Pettitte did. She was the reason why the Huskies were able to withstand that late Louisville run as she showed the world how great of player she can be. She played great defense and did her damnedest to get her hands on any rebound she could as she added 13 points and 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the year. Renee Montgomery paced UConn (32-1) with 20 points including 8-for-8 from the charity stripe in the last minute of the game. Big East Pl...

Just two days after an emotional win at Indiana, the UConn Huskies were back on the court again and engaged themselves in a tough Big East battle. Again, the Huskies came out top as they were able to withstand a late run from the Louisville Cardinals to win 69-67 at the XL Center on Monday ...SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "UConn Holds Off Louisville", url: "http://soxanddawgs.com/?p=3272-" });
UConn Women Shoot Down the Cardinals
2008-01-13 01:18:00
The Louisville Cardinals tested the UConn women tonight but each time the Cardinals got close, the Huskies had an answer in their 92-71 win in front of a sold-out Freedom Hall in Louisville. Louisville (11-5, 0-3 Big East) had gotten the lead down to 10 points with about 6 minutes remaining in the game before Ketia ... College Football: What I learned from Opening Night
2007-08-31 22:03:00
As you can already tell I'm very excited that College Football is underway. I live and breath College Football and all of Labor Day Weekend I will site back and relax and watch some games that I've been waiting for ever since March Madness ended. Here's a few things I learned from Thursday nights' games.LSU's Defense is absolutely solid and arguably the fiercest defense in the country. After watching LSU pick off Mississippi St. 6 times last night and their front seven making many tackles behind the line of scrimmage, I have come to the conclusion that LSU has one of the best defenses in the country. They made the Bull Dogs look like they were a D-2 team playing out there. The D-Line, lead by Glenn Dorsey, were clogging the holes and making stops behind the line of scrimmage all night. The LBs were filling the gaps and sacking Michael Henig constantly. The secondary was very impressive taking the WRs out of their routes and staying at home and attacking the ball very aggressive...

College Football 2007 Preview: Big East
2007-08-17 08:37:00
The Big East went through some growing pains losing some key teams to the ACC but has transitioned well and is now one of the top conferences once again.Predicted Order of Finish1. West VirginiaThe Mountaineers return a solid offense with 8 starters that includes one of the top and most elusive QB's in the nation in Pat White. Also, RB Steve Slaton, who rushed for 1,744 yards and 16 touchdowns, one of the top WRs in the conference in Darius Reynaud, and 3 solid offensive linemen return. The offense will be one of the best in the country. The defense returns some key experience as well with 7 starters back. The secondary should be solid with plenty of experience there. If the LB and D-line can find some play makers to help fill in for some of the losses look for WVA to compete for a spot in that BCS National Title Game.2. LouisvilleL'Ville returns 21 starters and will be lead by the Heisman caliber arm of Brian Brohm, who passed for 3,049 yards and 16 touchdowns. They also return a...

UCONN Women Beat Up On the Louisville Cardinals
2007-02-14 09:09:01
Renee Montgomery, one of four Huskies in double figures, led UCONN past the Louisville Cardinals 84-56 at Gampel Pavilion. Montgomery had 20 points while Mel Thomas and Charde Houston each had 19 points. Ketia Swainer came off the bench to score 12 points to round out the Huskies in double figures. Angel McCoughtry of Louisville led all scorers with 28 points. She also added 6 steals. UCONN started the half out on a 19-2 run including 16-0 to start the game. Thomas had 2 three pointers during the run while Montgomery had 6 points. UCONN had 14 assists on 17 first half baskets. The second half was much of the same as UCONN used many small runs to provide the final margin of victory. Notes and Observations: The starters were Montgomery, Thomas, Greene, Charles and Houston. Tina Charles was named the Big East freshman of the week for the fourth time in five weeks on Monday. She didn’t really have that great of a game tonight but it wasn’t really needed. She finished with ...
