UConn Women Survive Physical Battle With Louisville, 56-46
2012-02-08 03:37:00 On Monday night, the UConn Huskies men's basketball team was embarrassed at the KFC Yum! Center by the Louisville Cardinals. On Tuesday night, the UConn women's team was looking to return the favor to the Cardinals women's team. Instead, the Huskies found themselves in a prized fight with the Cardinals and it wouldn't be at all surprising if there's a lot of ice used during the flight home. After building up a big first half lead, UConn was able to survive the physical battle and a Louisville comeback to notch a hard fought 56-46 win in front of 16,483 and a nationally televised audience on CBS Sports Network. The crowd was the largest to see a women's basketball game at the KFC Yum! Center. The Huskies improve to 22-2 (10-1 Big East) and now have won 10 straight games. The Cardinals fall to 17-7 (6-5). 2012-02-07 04:24:00 Two steps forward, one step back. That would be the story of the UConn Huskies men's basketball team. On Saturday, it looked as though they had turned things around with a rousing win over the Seton Hall Pirates. But after their performance on Monday night against the Louisville Cardinals, any progress they had made is simply gone. The Cardinals made 11 three-pointers on their way to routing the Huskies 80-59 in front of 21,804 and a nationally televised audience at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, KY. UConn falls to 15-8 (5-6 Big East) while the Cardinals improve to 19-5 (7-4). Ryan Boatright led the way for the Huskies with 18 points and also had six rebounds, a team-high five assists and four steals. Alex Oriakhi came off the bench to add 11 points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots while Roscoe Smith had 10 points and five rebounds. UConn Beats Itself in 34-20 Loss To Louisville
2011-11-19 21:41:00 It's hard to win a football game when you beat yourself with stupid mistakes. And that's what happened to the UConn Huskies on Saturday afternoon with horrible special teams to start the game, eight dropped passes, a dumb roughing the kicker penalty and then lateraling the ball at the end of the game when you still had a timeout. The end result of all those blunders was a 34-20 loss to the Louisville Cardinals in front of 34,483 at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, CT. The Huskies fall to 4-6 (2-3 Big East) and need to win their final two games to become bowl-eligible. Speaking of becoming bowl-eligible, the Cardinals got there as they improve to 6-5 and are now tied with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at 4-2 for first place in the Big East. The final mistake UConn made came after they successfully executed an onsides kick and recovered it on their 41 yard line with 11 seconds to go in the game. There's still no Blidi Wreh-Wilson on the depth chart but Pasqualoni said during Monday's Big East Coaches teleconference that Wreh-Wilson is questionable for the game. He stated that he'll need to see how Wreh-Wilson performs in practice this week and could end up being a game-time decision.
