Luke Scott At The ESPN Zone in Downtown Baltimore: April 30th, 2008
2008-04-30 23:47:00
The newest member of the Orioles, and perhaps now an instant fan favorite with his now infamous cat-call ?Luuuuukkkkkkkeeeeee?, today spent some of his afternoon at the ESPN Zone in Baltimore?s Inner Harbor. He held a Q&A and an autograph session for fans during the lunch hour in the busy city.A seemingly humble and reflective man, Luke talked about his life in the minors in the Astros organization, his road to the majors and his personal experiences along with perseverance have shaped his time in the big leagues.A main of faith; he told the crowd upon being called to the majors, he broke down and cried. In the past few weeks, I gotten to see him up close on the field, and we all as fans can agree, he?s had a hot start to the 2008 campaign and is nothing but a welcome addition to the organization,Although he?s 29, and is in no shape or form still a prospect ? he knows all too well that being in the majors is a not a right ? but a privilege, and he intends to stay here.All in all, he...

Baltimore's Luke Scott is a weapon, carries one, too
2008-04-12 14:19:00
When the Baltimore Orioles traded for outfielder Luke Scott, they figured they were adding an offensive weapon, but they probably didn't realize that weapon came with a weapon. Scott recently revealed that he carries a concealed Glock pistol almost everywhere he goes according to a report in the Los Angeles Times. "We live in an imperfect world," Scott said. "If you have money and fame, you're more of a target to the criminal element. There are people who steal, who murder people for what they have. That's the reality of life. If you're not prepared, it could cost you your life."Scott, who batted .255 with the Houston Astros last season, entered Friday's game second in the American League with a .417 batting average. Perhaps pitchers are being extra nice with their fastballs.

Luke Scott Projection
2007-12-23 01:42:00
Luke Scott is an interesting under-the-radar outfielder.  I love it when this happens - a guy is oddly terrible for one month and it makes his entire statline look mediocre.  Scott started off with a .660 OPS in April.  He managed to recover and post an acceptable .814 OPS in May.  From June 1 on: .266/.368/.548 (.916 OPS) with 14 HR in 241 ABs.  Despite this awesomeness, the Astros only gave Scott 369 ABs all year.  There's something they just didn't like about him (his batting average and strikeouts). Scott is a left-handed hitter.  Minute Maid Park only inflated lefty home runs by 4%.  Indeed, his career home/away splits don't show a significant difference.  Camden Yards, on the other hand, suppresses left-handed home runs by 3%.  The park move might cost Scott about one home run in 2008. Only 17% of Scott's career ABs have been against southpaws, when normally you'd expect around 24%.  It was silly for the 'Stros to s...
Padres Closing In On Deal For Luke Scott
2007-12-04 21:39:00
According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Padres are nearing a deal to acquire Luke Scott from the Astros.  No word on the return yet.  I'm curious - Scott seemed like a solid bargain acquisition and it's no surprise Kevin Towers got him. showad();
[MLB] Luke Scott doesn?t like your wiener near his face

Here’s another one for the “This is why Philly fans get a bad rap” file. During last night’s game, the fans were harassing Luke Scott all night but play finally had to be stopped in the eighth inning when someone threw a hot dog that almost hit him. ...
Luke Scott (OF-HOU)
2007-04-05 22:08:00
Luke Scott was out of the lineup for the 2nd game in a row with a hyperextended elbow. Scott is currently day to day, leading to more at bats in the immediate future for the platooning Jason Lane.
