Jimmy, James and Lyndon
2008-02-19 00:38:00 A President’s Day tribute to our nation’s three worst presidents, Ari K Kaufman, American Thinker: Presidents Day has taken a deep back seat these days on our holiday calendar to the point that not only do schools go on as scheduled, but so do many state and government offices. This is not surprising in 2008, and many revel in it. Presidents Day now celebrates all presidents, not just our greatest. That being the case, let’s “celebrate,” or at least recall, the three worst presidents in our country’s otherwise proud history. Facebook, Lyndon LaRouche, and the problem with conspiracy theories
2007-09-05 00:17:00 I was browsing the net a couple of days ago and plugged "Facebook" into a search somewhere, just because it has been on my mind lately, and came upon an unexpected result: An article from the good old LaRouche organisation (Newsweek Puts a Mask on Facebook's Profile!):Watch out. Why are two of the biggest corporate media warmongers, responsible for giving cover for Dick Cheney's genocidal wars, so interested in promoting "democratic" youth culture? First, the British Empire's Rupert Murdoch bought up Myspace. Now Washington Post Co. chairman & CEO, Don Graham, is promoting Facebook, having arranged a $12.5 million investment from a "friend" to promote it. And now, Graham & Co. are giving Facebook millions of $ in free advertising with a cover-story on the latest Newsweek magazine. The LaRouche Youth Movement is warning, "Is Goebbels on your Laptop?"So, here is what we have so far: The British Empire has direct control over Rupert Murdoch, and Murdoch promotes a right-wing agenda...

Kubrick Week Day 4: Capsule Review - Barry Lyndon
2007-06-21 06:32:00 Director: Stanley Kubrick Cast: Ryan O’Neal, Marisa Berenson, Patrick Magee, Hardy Kruger, Diana Koerner, Leon Vitali Barry Lyndon is perhaps Kubrick’s best film. Adapted from William Makepeace Thackeray’s novel, Barry Lyndon satirically chronicles the social climbing rise to power of an poor Irish boy in 18th century England. Ryan O’Neal is excellent in the title role, and is supported by a fine cast and Kubrick’s impeccable direction. The true strength of Barry Lyndon is the visuals. It is certainly not only Kubrick’s best looking films, but also one of the best looking movies ever committed to celluloid. The set design and costume design is simply fantastic, and photography is without peer. Kubrick even had special lenses and cameras developed to shoot the film’s fantastic low light candle scenes, and to flatten the images. Still frames from Barry Lyndon could easily be mistaken for 18th century paintings. Bookmark to:Barry... |
