Magick Fusager Cloisonné Jewelry
2008-05-30 15:40:00
What is Cloisonné? Cloisonné is an enameling technique that uses wire to form a design. Soft gold wires are hand-cut and bent with tweezers into various designs. Each piece of wire is transferred to a silver disk that has been engraved to reflect light. The gold wires are fused onto the disk using clear enamel. Next comes the enamel, which is glass that has been ground into a consistency similar to fine sand. Oxides are added to create permanent colors.Abundance I Cloisonné PendantThis 24k gold cloisonné has been set in 14k yellow gold w/diamonds. Often thought of as having abundance of material things, however, Abundance comes in many forms. These designs are a reflection of a state of being, where one has abundance in all areas of life, including love, intimacy, friendship, and beauty.Falcher Fusager was born and raised in Denmark . As a teenager, he spent much of his free time painting, using traditional oil glazing techniques (applying multiple layers of transparent oil paints o...

The Truth about Black Magick Spells

Magick is the action that is intentionally performed to create change of circumstances in life. Although many believe that magickal powers are natural phenomenon that occurs in all human beings and animals, to many it sounds like paranormal or occult traditions. From ancient times people believed that some human beings (shamans, witch doctors, prophets, apostles, ...
Image Magick Banner Generator - part 5

So here we are all at the end of the Image Magick banner generation project. So I was twiddling about typing different little strings into "random_banner.sh" and displaying the results. And then I had the idea to write this script: "make_banners.sh" #!/bin/bash for NUM in $(seq 1 100); do WORD1=$(./random_line.sh /usr/share/dict/words) WORD2=$(./random_line.sh /usr/share/dict/words) NEWFILE=$WORD1"_"$WORD2".png" ./random_banner.sh "$WORD1 $WORD2" mv Banner.png ./banner_gallery/$NEWFILE done exit 0 What it does is pick two random words from /usr/share/dict/words and pop them through the banner generator, then save them in a subfolder. 100 at a time. Then I can browse through the folder later and cherry-pick anything interesting. The result is a toy that's half word-play and half image-play. Most of the results either have no meaning or aren't very pretty, but some of them are very interesting. Some are just crying out to have blogs written under ...

Image Magick Banner Generator - part 2
2008-03-18 19:18:00
Today's pieces of the banner generator puzzle are a couple of scripts to generate backgrounds. We'll start with the most basic one. I have this script saved as "generate_background_solid.sh":- #!/bin/bash if [ "$1" ]; then SIZE="$1" else echo "USAGE generate_background_solid.sh SIZE (XxY)" exit 1 fi BGCOLOR=$(./random_line.sh /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb.txt | cut -f 3- | sed 's/[ ]*//g') convert -size $SIZE xc:"$BGCOLOR" background.png exit 0 ...almost self-explanatory. Given an XxY argument, it produces a random solid-color background. "./generate_background_solid.sh- 400x100" gets you something like this: Later on in the project, we'll see how we use Image Magick's 'identify' command to get the size of a banner made with text, so we know how to pass that size argument to the background scripts. Right now, let's deal with a thornier problem, generating a gradient and not having it just be straight up and down. I have this script saved as "generate_backgro...
Image Magick Banner Generator - part 1
2008-03-17 15:08:00
I'm going to try an experiment: blogging a whole project for a little graphics toy I've managed to hack out. You are welcome to copy and save scripts as we go along, just read them and learn how to do it yourself, modify them to your own purposes, or just nod your head and go "Uh-huh, gawrsh, lookit the purty code boxes!" as they fly by. This will be a multi-part posting of a project. It's just a group of scripts which, when assembled together, make an interesting toy, and also teaches some practical use of the fantastic, but mysterious (to many), Image Magick tool suite. If you don't want to collect the parts day by day, wait to the end when I'll wrap the whole project up in a tarball for downloading. The first piece is a script version of a command I shared a couple days ago in Obscure Linux Commands: Some of My Favorite Incantations: #!/bin/bash if [ "$1" ]; then WORDLINE=$((($RANDOM * $RANDOM) % $(wc -l $1 | awk '{print $1}') + 1))"p" sed -n $WORDLINE $1 els...
Enchantmonths: The Magick of February

By:Wendi Friend-a-k-a-*Sparky**Note: Much thanks to Nick of Personal Paranoia and Strange Corridor for finding and placing the images within this article. Come out of the darkness. Surround yourself with light and love as February beckons you to celebrate creativity, passion, and warmth. It begins with the sweet songs of the chickadee. Can this be the first sign of spring? Like a dog shaking water from its fur, you rattle yourself, shuddering away the chills of winter slumber. The common chickdeePhoto courtesy of www.birdhousesbymark.comThe chickadee beckons you from outside your window, ?Come. Come outside.? Entranced by her call, you obey, returning to the thawing world of the great outdoors. She flutters, still singing, and you follow. Follow the song; follow the heart. Your chickadee is cheerful and her expressions of love are full of truth. She?ll help you uncover the sleepy mysteries of the mind; you know this as you follow her through tree clad landscapes under the shining su...
Enchantmonths - The Magick of January
2008-01-02 01:28:00
Relax in your inner sanctuary, a garden of tranquility and peace. As you nestle into your innermost being, breathe in the enchanted scents of carnation, marjoram, and holy thistle. As you breathe in, feel yourself filling with uplifting energy, strength, and balance. Know that you are protected here and take in the healing energies.Exhale. Let go of negativity while embracing the memory of divinity and learned experiences of yesteryear, without guilt or fear of self-imposed punishment. Enjoy the tranquility that comes from being surrounded by pinecones, nuts, crocus, and snowdrop.Inhale the scents of sage, musk, and mimosa while swaying in the kaleidoscope of white, blue, and violet colors amidst a black canvas of Universal wisdom. Follow the stepping stones in your path as they appear to you now in the form of garnet, jet, onyx, and chrysoprase.Exhale. As the chaos of recent holiday festivities fades into the shadows of the past, give your Self permission to be tired, in need of re...
That's the Alchemical Process, Bitches. Jimmy Page Talks Magick (a little)
2007-12-16 16:24:00
This is from the January 2008 issue of Guitar World, courtesy of a spooooooooky Aleister Crowley site, by way of my fav Led Zeppelin fan forum. ;)It's cool. (Guitar World) Could we talk a little about the meaning behind your Sequence [in The Song Remains The Same movie]?(Page) To me, the significance is very clear, isn’t it?(GW) Well, I find it interesting that you were choosing to represent yourself as a hermit at a time when you were really quite a public figure.(Page) Well, I was hermetic. I was involved in the hermetic arts, but I wasn’t a recluse. Or maybe I was… The image of the hermit that was used for the [inside cover] art-work on Led Zeppelin IV and in the movie actually has its origins in a painting of Christ called The Light of the World by the pre-Raphaelite artist William Holman Hunt. The imagery was later transferred to the Waite tarot deck [the most popular tarot deck in use in the English-speaking world]. My segment was supposed to be the aspirant going to th...

Enchantmonths: The Magick of December
2007-11-30 14:54:00
December is frosted with a variety of flavors ? Turquoise skies sprinkle glittery snow flakes, red Poinsettias pop with vibrant Christmas cheer, Mistletoe and Holly present promises of luck and kisses while invitations are extended to partake in celebrations of hot chocolate, eggnog, and presents o? plenty. Pine trees glisten with sparkling lights, twinkling tinsel, and shiny ornaments. Pretty packages wrapped in ribbons await unveiling moments while our smiles are warmed with holiday cheer, and Yuletide carols allow harmony to float on the chilled winter air. Yet, on the other side of that candy coin, there?s a sense of frozen existence. Bitter cold needs for solitary reflections border the realms of depression while we search through our shivering souls and credit card debts for a way to gracefully accept change and bravely face the approaching New Year. The holiday season represents a sense of coming together ? and yet, we cannot deny that life all around is hibernating, dying, a...

Quilting Magick
2007-11-06 18:21:00
Introduction Roughly eight years ago, give or take a few months, I received my first quilt. My father, long-since divorced from my mother, was married to a woman who had no children of her own. During two brief visits to my father?s house, I met and bonded with his wife. Shortly after those visits, I became ill with cancer. Two years I endured several surgical efforts to tame the beast, and countless invasive procedures. Eventually, a hysterectomy was in order. Just before I went into the hospital for my partial hysterectomy, I received a box from my step-mother. In it, a quilt her mother had made. Her mother had since passed away and my step-mother had no daughter of her own to hand the quilt down to. To my great honor, she sent the quilt to me at a pivotal time in my life.Since the day I received it, I?ve slept with that quilt every single night. It has moved with me more than half a dozen times over the years. I take it on vacations. I wrap myself in it when I write. I snuggle in...
Enchantmonths: The Magick of November
2007-11-01 15:57:00
November is laced with magick, as is any other time of the year. However, November?s magick is far from a delightful frolic through enchanted, rewarding, and bountiful realms. November is a time that beckons souls to stop and re-evaluate the forces that have been influencing life, in addition to gazing out on those influences wished for in life. In other words, November is a time that we are still -- un-moving within ourselves -- for just long enough to ask: Where am I, how did I get here, and is this road leading to the best possible destiny? As many people do with January?s New Year?s resolutions, magickal minded individuals have bid their old year goodbye in the last days of October ? making November the start of a new year.Embarking upon a new year is refreshing in the sense that we are able to begin again, but in order for something within us to be born, something within us also must die. Tradition shows us that New Year?s celebrations in January are a way for people to let go ...

Generate Background Tiles With ImageMagick
2007-06-18 17:53:00
I was puttering around with ImageMagick and wrote a short script which, when run, generates a gray-scale background tile. It is capable of a wide range of patterns, with only a few random numbers thrown at parameters. Thusly: #!/bin/bash RANDVAL="rand()*"$(($RANDOM % 512 + 1)) convert -size 256x256 xc: -fx $RANDVAL -write mpr:rand -virtual-pixel tile -blur 0x$(($RANDOM % 10)) -edge $(($RANDOM % 12)) -shade $(($RANDOM % 180))x$(($RANDOM % 180)) -fx G -normalize randbg.jpg exit 0 The only glitch seems to be that sometimes it complains of "convert: Zero sigma not permitted `rand'" I have no idea what that's supposed to mean, but it produces an image anyway! Count this as a lazy hack.
