UK In Flames. But Not India. Anna Hazare Sets Example Of Peaceful Protest
2011-08-17 03:08:00 It is known that many parts India can be a tinderbox waiting for a spark. And yet vast numbers of Indian people, irrespective of caste, education, age, political or religious affiliation are pouring onto the streets in peaceful protest against the jailing of Anna Hazare, the 74-year old anti-corruption crusader. A curious reader can search beyond the main Indian city dailies, and will find that the mass protests are spreading far, wide and deep in India. In Europe, the surging triumphs of the 1848 'revolutions' were effectively suppressed within a year. If Indians persist, if they can manage to calm down the hotheads, perhaps great change can be effected in India. This, however, may be her last chance for peaceful change. Anna Hazare. Man of peace in Gandhian tradition The Manmohan Singh government, amidst many corruption scandals, has been bent on watering down an anti-corruption Bill proposed by Anna Hazare and his team. It is now clearly running scared, willfully oblivio...
Anna Hazare?s Arrest. Dark Days For Indian Democracy
2011-08-16 13:13:00 A longtime Indian acquaintance has just emailed, recording his deep concern at the arrest by the Manmohan Singh government of Anna Hazare, an immensely courageous and peaceful activist calling for an end to rampant government corruption. India's gerontocratic leaders have learnt little about genuine processes of democracy. They learn nothing from the 'Arab spring'. Nor even for her own reasons, last century, for risking all in opposing British Rule. Nor do they learn from the 1848 revolutions in Europe, and what, for the lack of learning lessons, was to culminate in two mammoth conflagrations in the twentieth centuries. Their dangerous power game is like dice thrown in hell. Like Sathya Sai Baba, Manmohan Singh, and many other Indian leaders across the political spectrum, are yester-year's men - autocratic, and pretendedly democratic. Indian parliaments are, now and then, in terrible uproar that shocks a more urbane world. Some Indian government security forces make large depa...
Can Tomorrow?s Indian Citizens March Like Today?s Egyptians?
2011-02-13 01:01:00 Kind reader, please indulge me an acute understatement: Exposing Sathya Sai Baba, and that core of servitors who exercise control over his worldwide cult, has not been easy. Crowded around him, like a protective phalanx, have long been Indian presidents, prime and ministers, many ministers and civil service heads from both State and Central governments, Supreme and High Court judges, heads of police, the armed services, foreign service, foremost industrialists, financiers .... and a long list more of India's social, political and cultural elites. As I watched the footage of brave Egyptian citizens risking their lives to unseat a leader and government they believe have sorely betrayed the people, my mind reflected back to the courage ? to take but one example ? of thousands of Indian citizens who accompanied Mahatma Gandhi on the great salt marches.
V.P.B. Nair Told BBC Sai Baba Bedroom Killings Were ?Coldblooded Murder?
2011-01-06 11:49:00 In mid 2004, former Andhra Pradesh Home Secretary, V.P.B. Nair spoke to the BBC about the official corruption that attended the police killings in Sathya Sai Baba's bedroom in June 1993. He said he intended to take steps to get the case re-opened. But has he done anything of the sort? It is an odd irony that exposure of these killings at Puttaparthi, and the subsequent profound suppression of investigation, have been effectively left up to two individuals gifted with cussed unstoppableness - the late Basava Premanand in India and Robert Priddy in Norway.
Is Puttaparthi Glitter the ?Shining India??
2010-12-15 23:31:00 Many are the demonstrably mistaken accusations thrown at those who have stood forth to expose Sathya Sai Baba and his international sect. For example, typically taking our remarks badly out-of-context, it is said that we are: "India bashers". But they do their cause harm; and we learn that many Sai devotees will have nothing to do with them - although we also know that some who are close to Sathya Sai Baba have assisted them in various ways. Indeed, the absurdity and intellectual dishonesty of their attempts to defame will not win them the favour of astute and questioning readers.
Wolf Messing and Sathya Sai Baba: Serguei Badaev and Brian Steel Articles O
2010-10-22 23:52:00 One of many instructive cases that challenge Sai Baba's self-presentation are his references, across time, to an alleged meeting of himself and the Polish psychic Wolf Messing. The more scrutiny that is given - other than by the eyes of blind faith - to many of Sathya Sai Baba's pronouncements about history and science the more a rational reader is struck by the occurrence of error, contradiction and lack of clarity. An editor at the Invigilator blogsite has noted: "The text previously posted about Wolf Messing by Alexandra Nagel on this blog (written in 2004) has been removed since researches by expert investigators - entirely independently of all Sathya Sai Baba connections - have proven almost his entire biography to be a concocted myth. This information only emerged after new hitherto unknown sources became available. showing that the world has been totally misled by the claims put forward by Wolf Messing and Mikhail Khvastunov. In his thorough article summarizing these ma...

2008-09-14 13:32:00 My years in India furnished moving testimony to widespread harmonious relationships between Indian people of many religious and even non-religious backgrounds. Does God Love Everyone?
2008-04-02 14:00:00 Dr. Robert A. Morey addresses the question if God does indeed love everyone. He also gives an exposition on how it is not Biblical to say that God “loves the sinner but hates the sin”, which to my knowledge is a saying coined by Mahatma Gandhi and is not found in the Bible at all. Is ...

A Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi: The Father of India
2008-01-30 13:42:00 This day in 1948, only months after India gained independence, Mohandas Gandhi died when an assassin, a Hindu named Nathuram Godse, angered by Gandhi's benevolence towards Muslims and betrayed the Hindu cause, shot him point blank in New Delhi.Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, called Mahatma or "Great Soul," led a non-violent, civil disobedience campaign against the oppressive British Raj which led to India's independence in 1947.Mohandas K. Gandhi was quoted to have said "If I am to die by the bullet of a mad man, I must do so smiling. There must be no anger within me. God must be in my heart and on my lips." This was on January 28, 1948, two days prior to his assassination.During Tutubi's 3 weeks working, living in India in April 2004, he was able to visit Mumbai's Mani Bhavan museum near Malabar Hill, where Gandhi had lived while visiting the city and was the focal point of his political activities. Mahatma Gandhi
2008-01-30 10:23:00 Mohandas Karamchand Gandh? (Porbandar, 1869 - Nueva Delhi, 1948).

2008-01-28 09:59:00 Admirers of Mahatma Gandhi can have a lifetime opportunity in Mumbai to have an audience with his mortal remains and pay their homage before they are scattered over the Arabian Sea on his 60th death anniversary on January 30. legend of india
2007-12-19 13:56:00 Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru were both stalwarts in Indian national struggle for independence. Motilal Nehru, Jawaharlal Nehru's father, was an eminent personality in the Indian National Congress and that fascinated young Jawaharlal Nehru to join politics too. He was greatly influenced by his father's charismatic personality and his elegance and style. Motilal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi knew each other very well and it became easier for Jawaharlal Nehru to be closely acquainted to 'Bapu'-as the nation called him. Mahatma Gandhi first met Jawaharlal Nehru at the annual meeting of the Indian National Congress in the year 1916 at Lucknow. The first meeting was enough to impress Nehru regarding Gandhi and the charm of this relationship increased and flourished with passing time. In Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru had found the absolute leader who was capable of handling the entire nation. This quality he found missing in almost all the Indian political leaders of the time that...

Seven Blunders of the World by Mahatma Gandhi
2007-09-27 19:02:00 The Seven Blunders of the World is a list that Mahatma Gandhi gave to his grandson Arun Gandhi, written on a piece of paper, on their final day together, not too long before his assassination.[1] The seven blunders are: Wealth without workPleasure without conscienceKnowledge without characterCommerce without moralityScience without humanityWorship without sacrificePolitics without principle This list grew from Gandhi's search for the roots of violence. He called these acts of passive violence. Preventing these is the best way to prevent oneself or one's society from reaching a point of violence. To this list, Arun Gandhi added an eighth blunder, Rights without responsibilities.Source

Quotes by Mahatma Gandhi
2007-02-09 20:28:01 I have started a new blog, a collection of my favourite quotes. These quotes by Gandhi were selected from an article by Sri Chinmoy on Mahatma Gandhi available here: Mahatma Gandhi Sri Chinmoy says of Mahatma Gandhi: "Some of the world figures have called him the Saint Paul, Saint Thomas and Saint Francis of Assisi of the modern era. I call him the Pacific Ocean of Heart's Love and Soul's Compassion. Perhaps I am wrong. Perhaps I am right. But I am adamant in my assertion that Mahatma Gandhi is not the exclusive treasure of India, but a peerless pride of mankind; and he will remain so down the sweep of centuries." These are a very small collection of quotes by Gandhi more will come over time Quotes by Gandhi
The New Upper Middle Class Indian Judges
2007-02-09 09:00:00 The latest series of judgment by the Indian Supreme Court Judges points to the exact status of affairs of the country. Most of there judgments in the recent times have been anti poor. Lets take about the case of Narmada Bachao Andolan. The latest judgment orders the government to implement the rehabilitation as ordered earlier. When we look at the judgment, it seems a very ruling that goes to benefit all those who is going to displace by this Enormous Dam Construction. When we look into the fact that the ruling was made on a complaint saying rehabilitation has not be done properly, we find the foul play in the ruling. How many times have we heard an instance of the court ruling a judgment by taking into account only the statement made by Government(Surprisingly here Governments are the culprit). This is equal to freeing a murderer, since he has told in the court he has not done the crime. The latest ruling by the Honorable Supreme Court of India openi...
