Malaysian Grand Prix (Formula 1)
2008-04-09 02:25:00 21 Maret - 13 April 2008lBursting on to the Formua One circuit in 1999 to great acclaim, the ultra-modern Sepang International Circuit is regarded as one of the best tracks in the world. And as such, the Malaysian Grand Prix has earned a reputation as one of the most exciting Formula One racing events of the year. Racing in hot and humid conditions around a circuit that is characterised by sharp corners, the course demands a lot from drivers and guarantees a weekend of top racing action.Raikkonen storms to victory in MalaysiaIf Australia was a nightmare for Ferrari, Malaysia was a dream. Kimi Raikkonen toyed initially with polesitting team mate Felipe Massa, took the lead after their first pit stops, and sauntered into the distance to a victory that puts him back into contention for a second world title. Fastest Lap Times From the Malaysian Grand Prix
2008-03-24 12:36:00 I thought I’d look at what I can get out of the fastest lap times of the Malaysian Grand Prix and I see some improvements here. First one is BMW-Sauber. Nick Heidfeld with the fastest lap of the race is a huge plus for BMW and from what I read, they are ecstatic about it. Unfortunately for Nick, it was at the end of the race. What is developing here is that there is a new threat for serious championship points now. Although BMW-Sauber aren’t ready to win a championship, they are ready to claim regular podium finishes. By taking big points regularly in races, they will be stealing points that Ferrari and McLaren Mercedes want for their championship hopes. Ferrari has already spoken about this and I’m sure McLaren are thinking about it too. The second thing I see is Honda with Jenson Button. Didn’t hear too much about him during the race, but he did post the 4th fastest lap of the race above Felipe Massa of Ferrari and Robert Kubica of BMW-Sauber. Rubens...

Raikkonen Wins Rain Free Malaysian Grand Prix
2008-03-23 16:04:00 It was a weekend in Malaysia for Ferrari to bounce back after a dismal outing in Australia with Kimi Raikkonen taking the Malaysian Grand Prix with relative ease. Second Place belonged to Robert Kubica in a fast improving BMW-Sauber F1.08 and Heikki Kovalainen in third place. Jarno Trulli in the Toyota showed that Toyota have good pace this year with an impressive 4th place finish just ahead of a charging Lewis Hamilton who, if not for one poor pit stop would have placed higher. The race began with Felipe Massa on pole and after turn one, Massa kept the lead ahead of Ferrari teammate Kimi Raikkonen. Nick Heidfeld and Jarno Trulli came together lightly, but enough to send Heidfeld down to 10th place. Heidfeld would have a difficult time making up ground the rest of the race from there. First lap bumper cars was limited to just Sebastein Bourdais spinning off into the gravel trap and beaching his car for the day. Lap by lap run down: lap 2 had Massa in the lead edging close to a 1...

Malaysian Grand Prix: Ferrari's revenge sabotaged by Massa.
2008-03-23 09:06:00 The second leg of the 2008 Formula One championship was run today on the Sepang circuit in Kuala Lumpur. Both McLaren-Mercedes cars were penalized by the FIA after the qualifying session for running at a very slow pace after registering their qualifying time. They both were backed up by five positions on the starting grid. The Ferrari cars occupied the first row on the starting grid. Without any doubt, the Scuderia possessed the best setup for this race. Felipe Massa was on pole while Kimi Raikkonen was second on the grid. After a clean start, the two Ferraris were flying ahead, untouchable for their competitors. Then, Kimi Raikkonen managed to pass Felipe Massa during the first pitstop. Everything was running smoothly for Ferrari up to that point. We were already expecting a perfect one-two finish for them. But Felipe Massa sabotaged the perfect weekend for Ferrari when he lost control of his car. Massa exceeded the limits of his race car in a curve and spun into the gravel, unable t...

2008 Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix Preview
2008-03-20 19:22:00 The second round of the season in Malaysia is always a big challenge for the teams and drivers as the immense heat plays havoc with everyone. The Track The Sepang Circuit was designed by Tilke, and was opened in 1999. It hosted the first F1 race that season. For a long time the track was no open to anything else other than F1, but that soon changed and testing, support series and even television crews used the fantastic circuit which is very long, and has a wide variety of corners. One of the best known things about the track is the two long straights, and the beautiful grandstands along the sides with roofs in the shape of a fan. Pre-Event Thoughts Nico Rosberg, Williams (3rd Australia): “Sepang is one of my favourite tracks on the calendar. We should be stronger there than we were in Melbourne as well, especially if we have the whole weekend to prepare properly, so we’re looking for another good performance. Perhaps not a podium, but anoth...
