At least, whenever we would pass by this restaurant, it would always be full and visitors would even be standing outside waiting for a table. That is why we were a bit surprised when we were able to book reservations with the eatery for four guests at seven o'clock on a Saturday evening. Reservations were made on that same Saturday afternoon using the handy online reservation system found at their web site. We drove into town and noticed it quite deserted. It was a cold and rainy day and we attributed the Manhattan Beach downtown emptiness to that factor. It was a rainy day in Southern California and not many people decided to be outside. This allowed us for an easy drive and even easier parking. Usually full, the parking lot at the corner of Manhattan Beach Boulevard and Ocean Drive was half deserted. We put in several quarters and proceeded to the restaurant. I called in advance and inquired about the wait and the hours. They are open from eight in the morning until three in the afternoon and that was convenient. They could not guarantee a prompt seat but since we were heading out after one o'clock we hoped that the lunch crowd would have seceded by then. Parking is always a challenge in the El Porto area of Manhattan Beach.
