Honda S2000 sales for March 2009
2009-04-12 14:16:00 It's the last year of S2000 sales, and they are still showing their seasonal trends - although numbers are way down. The data Honda provides shows only sales, not numbers of cars sitting on lots. So if you plan on getting an S2000 while the are still available, it's best to buy now while they are still available. The dedicated assembly line at the factory will shut down for good in only a few months.

2009-03-31 21:16:00 WHAT WE’RE WATCHING: 90210 (9PM CW, Global in Canada) Liam takes Naomi out for a wild night, Silver makes a shocking video and Annie finds out Ethan’s been kissing someone else. Oh, the drama! CUPID (10PM ABC) The person who said there are no new ideas under the sun is apparently proven right tonight as ABC launches this remake of a show that failed miserably the first time around. On the plus side, Bobby Cannavale (WILL & GRACE) deserves a series and is wildly appealing. This, however, probably won’t be it. NEW & NOTABLE: BETTER OFF TED (8PM ABC) Hoping to get an audience for this quirky comedy, ABC is re-running the first two episodes back-to-back. The series is wildly uneven, but it has its moments… and that’s more than you can say for a lot of currently-airing shows. NCIS (8PM CBS) Sometimes, you’ve gotta do things you don’t want to in order to get the job done. For me, that involves going to work. For Gibbs, it means wo...

2009-03-30 23:06:00 WHAT WE’RE WATCHING: THE BIG BANG THEORY (8PM CBS, CTV in Canada) Considering tonight’s episode is called “The Dead Hooker Juxtaposition” we’d say there’s a 50/50 chance that the purported rivalry between Penny and the new girl in the building is not going to end well. Tuesday, March 24th, 2009: Recycling (and my strange building) in Malmö
2009-03-24 20:59:00 What I think:Since I moved to Sweden, I've felt that recycling is a pretty thorough thing here. I even wrote about how it works in Helsingborg a couple of years ago (here). But it appears that recycling is not quite as thorough in Malmö as it is in Helsingborg.Having just moved into our new place in Malmö, we naturally had a fair amount of rubbish (US/CAN: garbage) to dispose of, so off we went on our first visit to the rubbish room. It's actually in the basement, and along a long-ish corridor. What we discovered was that, while there are the usual bins for paper, cardboard, clear and coloured (US/CAN: colored) glass, hard plastic, and general household waste, there are none for soft plastic or organic waste (left-overs, peels/skins, bones, rude cashiers, landlords, etc.). So all plastic carrier-bags/wrappers and people you don't like (including rappers) have to go in with the general household waste. Now, I'm just wondering whether this is an all-of-Malmö thing, whether it's ju...

The Alabama Freedom March
2009-03-24 18:45:00 Forty-four years ago today, on March 25, 1965, the iconic civil rights leader and Nobel Peace laureate Martin Luther King led 25,000 marchers, Negroes and Whites, to the state capitol in Montgomery, Alabama, to protest the denial of voting rights to blacks, challenging Alabama to put an end to racial discrimination. The Alabama Freedom March, as it was called, ended shortly after noon at the foot of the Capitol steps, and as people from all over the nation stood facing the white-columned statehouse, Dr. King assured them:?Yes, we are on the move and no wave of racism can stop us. (Yes, sir!) We are on the move now. The burning of our churches will not deter us. (Yes, sir!) The bombing of our homes will not dissuade us. (Yes, sir!) We are on the move now. (Yes, sir!) The beating and killing of our clergymen and young people will not divert us. We are on the move now. (Yes, sir!) The wanton release of their known murderers would not discourage us. We are on the move now. (Yes, sir!) Li...

2009-03-23 17:20:00 Here's one you don't see too often. Only about 3,700 of the model K-51 were built during WWII. They were used primarily to haul around radio equipment, but some were also designated as WA models and fitted for use as ambulances although most of the ambulatory duties were carried out by the Dodge

Weekend Linkage - March 22, 2009
2009-03-23 03:48:00 We took our daughters 65 miles east today to visit The New York Botanical Garden, where there’s a Orchid Show going on right now. It’s the first time we have ever been there (though we lived on the other side of the city for years) and the kids really enjoyed the trip. With the kids running ...Original Post on The Sun's Financial Diary Special bonus offers Ohio CollegeAdvantage 529 Plan $25 Bonus Lending Club $25 Sign Up Bonus Weekend Linkage - March 22, 2009
Tonight’s TV Addictions: March 22, 2009
2009-03-22 22:11:00 WHAT WE’RE WATCHING: THE SIMPSONS (8PM FOX, GlobalTV in Canada) Continuing FOX’s penchant for celebrating holidays late (see: Halloween in November), tonight’s adventure has the Simpsons traveling to Ireland five days after St. Patrick’s Day. Cue obligatory Homer Simpson epitaph, “D’oh!” KINGS (8PM NBC, CityTV in Canada) Remember friends, if this show gets cancelled and replaced with a third hour of CELEBRITY APPRENTICE, you only have yourself to blame. We’re just sayin’ BIG LOVE (9PM HBO) In what is sure to be a BIG season finale, expect BIG surprises (courtesy of an unexpected visitor for Nicki), BIG potential cast changes (when Sarah reveals her future plans *cough*cough*movie career*cough) and a BIG cliffhanger (which may-or-may-not have to do with Bill’s plot to vanquish Roman and the Greenes once and for all.) AMERICAN DAD (9:30PM FOX, GlobalTV in Canada) Steve and his friends sabotage a stuck-up kid’s bar mitzv...

Odds and Ends March 22nd
2009-03-22 15:28:00 Odds and Ends March 22nd Edwin Jackson = Bob Gibson What? That’s what this following article purports. I’ve always liked Jackson’s stuff. I even wrote about his upside potential back in 07. But Bob Gibson? Nah. The Rays traded Jackson this off-season for outfielder Matt Joyce. While at first glance this may appear to be a bad ...

Tonight’s TV Addictions: March 20, 2009
2009-03-20 20:54:00 WHAT WE’RE WATCHING: TERMINATOR: TSCC (8PM FOX, “A” in Canada) John makes a pivotal decision. One that we can only hope doesn’t involve his oft-maligned hairstyle. Again. DOLLHOUSE (9PM FOX, GlobalTV in Canada) It’s the one fans have been waiting for. Especially after Eliza Dushku’s February 27 interview where she let it slip that DOLLHOUSE “really took off” (read: becomes watchable) with tonight’s game-changer of an episode. FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS (9PM NBC, E! in Canada) Landy tires of Tyra’s selfish behavior. And you know what? Kudos to him. Because quite frankly, we tired of Tyra’s selfish behavior a good four episodes ago. BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (9PM SyFy, Space in Canada) None of this has happened before, and none of this will happen again. So be sure to set your PVR to record 11 minutes long, as you’d hate to miss the ending of this super-sized series finale. (more…)

March 20, 1956 - The Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM)
2009-03-20 18:53:00 On this day in engineering history, the U.S. Navy began studying the development of a solid-fueled, ship-based, fleet ballistic missile (FBM). Four years later, the first Polaris A-1 rocket was test-launched from the USS George Washington, the Navy's first fleet ballistic missile submarine. Th
