Did Marines Render Departed Taliban Short Arm Salute?
2012-01-12 19:53:00
A video shows four purported Marine rendering due respect to purported dead Taliban fighters, from Useless Toady: WASHINGTON (AP) – Defense Secretary Leon Panetta on Thursday condemned as “utterly deplorable” a video that purports to depict four U.S. Marines urinating on the corpses of Taliban fighters. He said such behavior is “entirely inappropriate for members of the United States military” and those responsible will be held accountable. I have my opinion of what the Marines are doing and my attitude has to how appropriate the short arm salute,  may or my not be.    However,  the linked video does not shows any short arms on display.   So Secretary Panetta does not know  just what the four standing gentlemen are in fact Marines or just what they are doing.   Given Panetta’s lack of information it is time for him to pull his proverbial Johnson out of his mouth and shut the flock up.   Is Panetta attempting to exert command influence for ...

2,200 Marines Go To Libya, 'What Happened to No Boots on the Ground&ap
2011-03-23 21:50:00
-By Warner Todd Huston In all the reporting on the involvement of US Forces in Libya a report by WCTI Channel 12 News in New Bern, North Carolina seems to have gone by almost unnoticed. The News channel reports that 2,200 U.S. Marines have been shipped off the Libya. But doesn't this deployment clash with Obama's supposedly steadfast claim that there will be "no boots on the ground" in Libya? On March 20 WCTI reported that the Marines were shipping out....

Killer of Marines dead
2008-06-08 10:16:00
A southern insurgent with a million-baht bounty on his head for the brutal 2005 murders of two kidnapped Marines died in a gunfight with government forces in Narathiwat province, police said on Saturday, after a night of insurgent terror attacks. Alinsan Nikaji was killed after 100 police and soldiers sealed off the village of Tanyong Limo in a hunt for a suspected militant hideout. A 20-minute gun battle broke out as government forces found four suspected rebels inside a home in the village. Alinsan, 25, was killed during the battle. Thai authorities had a 1 million baht ($30,000) reward for Alinsan, who was wanted in the hostage-taking that ended when he and accomplices beat the two Marines to death in Tanyong Limo in 2005. Two other men, each with 500,000-baht rewards on their heads, were arrested after the Friday night firefight, police said. In the hostage crisis in Tanyong Limo, hundreds of veiled women and young children dramatically faced down heavily armed ...

¿Al Qaeda derrotada? Díganselo a los marines
2008-06-04 22:26:00

So Al Qaeda Is Defeated, Eh? Go Tell It to the Marines
2008-06-02 17:19:00
AlterNet So al-Qa'ida is "almost defeated", is it? Major gains against al-Qa'ida. Essentially defeated. "On balance, we are doing pretty well," the CIA's boss, Michael Hayden, tells The Washington Post. "Near strategic defeat of al-Qa'ida in Iraq. Near strategic defeat for al-Qa'ida in Saudi Arabia. Significant setbacks for al-Qa'ida globally -- and here I'm going to use the word 'ideologically' -- as a lot of the Islamic world pushes back on their form of Islam." Well, you could have fooled me. Six thousand dead in Afghanistan, tens of thousands dead in Iraq, a suicide bombing a day in Mesopotamia, the highest level of suicides ever in the US military -- the Arab press wisely ran this story head to head with Hayden's boasts -- and permanent US bases in Iraq after 31 December. And we've won? [..]Am I alone in finding this stuff infantile to the point of madness? As long as there is injustice in the Middle East, al-Qa'ida will win. As long as we have 22 times as many W...

Marines Take On Motorcycle Madness
2008-05-07 17:00:00
M ay 6, 2008: Both the U.S. Army and Marine Corps have been having a growing problem with motorcycle accidents, outside of combat. Over ten percent of army and marine personnel own a motorcycle, and that number has increased rapidly since the invasion of Iraq. The reason for all this is the large amount of money many troops find themselves with when they come back from Iraq or Afghanistan. In combat zones, there aren't too many things you can spend your money on. Then there's the extra pay for being there. It adds up. If the trooper isn't married (and about half are not) many arrive back home with up to $50,000, or more, in ready cash. This leads to temptation, and that temptation often takes the form of a hot new bike. Many troops return jacked up on combat and all the fast road movement they experienced in Iraq or Afghanistan. Last year, 93 military army personnel were killed in automotive accidents. Most of these were soldiers, while 19 were marines. Whil...

God made Marines for One Thing! Care to Guess?
2008-05-03 19:41:00
With regard to the training aspect, I subscribe to the following: 1) Simple is what killing is, whether with a spear or a JDAM. The act itself is simple. We have been stacking them up like cordwood over here – no problem. 2) The training we did prior to coming over was simple - hardness, simple drills to get into firing position, simple escalation of force parameters. Nothing higher than that. Now at Division level and above, the planning, ROE, complexity of synchronization, and bringing in all aspects of foreign policy gets complex - but the killing time remains simple, and we do everything we can to keep it that way. We don’t brief the trigger pullers on all the complexities - we keep them at that cutting edge. 3) I know that EVERY Marine knows how to do sight alignment and sight picture (clear tip of the front sight post in a fuzzy “bullseye”). That is why we are the world’s best all-purpose marksmen. Weapons handling remains simple (”never ...
