2008-06-07 01:29:00 The Police have set August 7 at New York's Madison Square Garden as their final concert with proceeds going to the local PBS stations. Tickets for the historic show will only be available through donations to the station of $150, $350, $500 and $750 per pair with special packages at the $2,000 and $5,000 levels. A special pre-sale for Police fan club members starts June 9.Opening will be the B-52's. Nothing has been confirmed, but there are rumors that the show will eventually show up as a PBS special.Chalk up another artists on the Obama bandwagon. 2008-05-03 03:39:00 Indianapolis Colts All-Pro wide receiver Marvin Harrison is being investigated about a shooting that took place outside of his bar Playmakers. No charges have yet been filed against Harrison or anybody else. The source said the alleged victim came into the bar, Playmakers, about 5 p.m. and engaged in an argument with Harrison, who was at the bar. The victim then left the bar, heading to his car, with Harrison following. Gunfire broke out, the victim was hit in the hand, and a young girl was slightly injured by flying glass from a car that apparently was hit by a bullet. Police came to scene, but the victim did not identify a shooter. On Wednesday, according to the source, ballistic tests showed that the gun that had fired the shots was a custom-made Belgian weapon, and police determined that Harrison owned such a gun. While this would increase our annual property taxes by .05 / hundred of value ($250.00 per year if you own a 500k home), it would also mean that we would gain some needed services. As our population grows, so does the need for better police and fire protection and other services. And we should feel good that we're not in the Waxhaw district, paying .34, or Monroe at .55. Some of the subdivisions that are affected include (but not limited to) Providence Downs (all areas), Woodall, Sedgefield, The Reserve, Walden Pond and after a long battle, it looks like Providence Glen will be considered.
