Es ging uns so wie ihr: Im Antik-Café "Altes Doktorhaus" in Lensahn gibt esTorten erst ab 14:00 Uhr. So lange wollten wir nicht warten und sind dann weiter nach Fehmarn gefahren, wo es im Café Jedermann bestimmt gleichwertigen Tortenersatz gab. Das fand auch eine Hochzeitsgesellschaft, der nacheinander 4 verschiedene Kuchen serviert wurde. Aber Dank Kann denn Süßes Sünde sein? Noch mehr leckere Rezepte aus norddeutschen Cafés kamen wir in den Genuss einer Antik-Café-Torte im heimischen Garten. Und da ich das "Törtchen" in einer Springform von 20 cm Ø produziert habe, ist die Kleine Mohn-Marzipan-Torte mit Preiselbeeren ein weiterer Kandidat für den Dauer-Event Kleine Kuchen. In den Supermarktregalen finden sich fast unendlich viele Joghurtsorten, die meisten werden von mir links liegen gelassen. Ob einfach Erdbeer- oder Karamelljoghurt, ausgefallene Kreationen wie Orangen-Joghurt mit Honig und Pinienkernen, der griechische Klassiker mit Joghurt mit Walnüssen und Honig oder die deluxe Variante Joghurt mit Pinienkernen und Honig - ich mache viele Joghurt-Kreationen selbst. Die schmecken besser und sind vergleichsweise preiswert (allerdings isst man auch mehr davon ;-)). Meine neuster Joghurt ist die Variante "Mohn-Marzipan". Lies mehr! Copyright by foolforfood, 2007. I ran into the story of The Political Candidate Formerly Known As Marvin ‘Pro-Life’ Richardson this morning. Long story short, an Idaho strawberry farmer has pared his legal name all the way down to ‘Pro-Life,’ that being the only way for him to appear specifically as Pro-Life on the upcoming ballot to succeed Senator Larry Craig (and every subsequent Idaho ballot until he meets Janis Joplin). Considering he advocates murder charges for those who seek and perform abortions, he could have gone the Prince route and changed his name to an ultrasound picture. (Or one of those other ones… you know… *full-body shiver* from the protests. How would the DMV handle that?)

Sounds pretty gross, eh? Yet these cute little shroomies are very friendly and tasty (supposing you love marzipan as much as I do).Here I am tempted to share one funny love-and hate marzipan relationship, an annual gift from my mother to her "demanding" husband:In Slovakia, we have been making these every Christmas for decades, which ended up in a general aversion towards these cute little shroomies as such. My mum revolted several times claiming that they suck and she s not going to make them again. How unfortunate, my dad (and myself) are in love with them, so mother (regardless of her personal feelings and verbal threats of her determination of NOT making them AGAIN) - she is ready to fulfil her husband´s (who cares about the daughter?) every wish. Each December towards its end, she still throws herself into a huge pile of home-made marzipan and starts folding and molding and thus surprises my dad with a nice happy family of:HOME-MADE MARZIPAN... Il dolce è nutriente!/This dessert is rich!I mentioned yesterday, I made it through my the party I had been preparing for over the last 2 weeks. It was my first (paid) catering gig and I was very nervous. I was only able to take a couple of pictures before the guests arrived. Once I get the pictures from the photographer and from my friend Ashley, I will put together a slide show this week. It's time again for our daughter's birthday, and she turns 12 in January. Every year begins on a note of complete frenzy where there is so much to be done for her birthday party. For the cake this year, DH suggested we make marzipan decorations like we had done for her 9th birthday. The 9th Birthday Cake...That cake was one of our we've begun the preparations. Thankfully marzipan decorations can be made in advance, so a little of the work is done. This is how the toppings are looking now...the cake will follow after the 2nd of January! Another recipe to my friends from USA, U.K and other countries who speak english.Marzipan has been used for centuries by pastry chefs all over the world. It can be used in baking and for covering and filling cakes. Marzipan looks fabulous for colorful cake decorations and figurines. Marzipan has to have at least 25 % almonds otherwise it is considered almond paste.A thin layer of Marzipan can be used to cover a cake. Colored it can replace the need for frosting.It is also used under Fondant, much like apricot glaze to protect the Fondant from moisture.Both recipe call for extra fine ground blanched almonds. In commercial bakeries the almonds are finely grounded by passing them through granite rollers. Überall verlangt es nach Kühlem: Ob bei Meetas Monthly Mingle der Scream for Ice Cream oder für den Donna-Hay-Sommertag ein Sorbet oder hier nach einer gefrorenen Kreation. Es war also geradezu ein Muss, mein Geld für eine Eismaschine mit Kompressor auszugeben, damit ich an diesen Events teilnehmen kann :-). Diese ist es dann von hier geworden. Wie schön, dass Junior frei hatte und die Maschine entgegennehmen konnte. Und hier die erste Eiskreation Marzipan-Eis Nach dem Genuss des Eises war auch der beste Ehemann von allen der Meinung, dass unser Geld gut angelegt ist. Auch ich hatte damit zu kämpfen, die Eis-Kreation rechtzeitig vor dem Schmelzen abzulichten. So professionell wie hier bin ich das nicht angegangen. Hier wird gerade ausgiebig über Lebensmittel-Fotografie diskutiert. Ok, das Bild bekommt keinen Preis, aber es ist echt und ich konnte es auch genießen.
