Wolfram Research Mathematica v6.0.2
2008-05-04 12:41:00
Datos TécnicosWolfram Research Mathematica v6.0.2520 MB | Bin | Ingles | Medicina Incl.
O’Reilly taking Mathematica online
2008-02-20 19:10:00
Mathematica lets users perform a wide variety of mathematical calculations and visualize results.(Credit: Wolfram Research) Mathematica, Wolfram Research's sophisticated software for complicated mathematical calculations and visualization, is going online. The O'Reilly School of Technology announced Wednesday a licensing deal with Wolfram that will let it create an online version of Mathematica called Hilbert that "will emulate the desktop version of the software with remarkable fidelity." The software will be available to students in the second half of the year, O'Reilly said. Hilbert will be available through the O'Reilly School of Technology, an online education division of publisher O'Reilly Media. Going one step further in fulfilling some of the potential of online software, Hilbert will also enable users to create "mashups" that combine the Mathematica abilities with other online work through courses including NetMath at the University of Illinois, said Scott Gray...
SAGE: software libre alternativo a Matlab, Mathematica, Maple
2007-12-14 17:20:00
Sage: Alternativa Open-Source a MatLab, Mathematica, Maple
2007-12-08 17:38:00

Football Fixing Scandal: 99% Mathematical Proof!
2007-04-09 21:36:00
The sports world is talking about the game-fixing point scandal at the University of Toledo. The FBI has charged Toledo Rockets running back Harvey "Scooter" McDougle Jr. with taking cash to influence the outcome of 2005 University of Toledo football games. But, most reports are missing vital evidence that has just been compiled by a three-time world champion sports bettor. RJ Bell, President of Pregame.com has uncovered these remarkable facts: - Evidence with a 99% mathematical certainty: Movements in the betting line are responses to disproportionate amounts of money bet a certain way. During the 2005 Toledo football regular season, lines on their team's games moved two points or more on 7 occasions - and ALL 7 TIMES the way the bettors were betting won against the opening line. The odds of this happening randomly are 128 to 1. It can be stated, with greater than 99% mathematical certainty, that the outcomes of those games were affected by OUTSIDE factors! - According to a...

The state of CT requires that I pay an annual interest rate of 1.5% on a tenants security deposit for any month they pay on time. What would be the current balance on tenants security deposit today if:The deposit was $2600They took possession in July 06 and have been on time 3 months total.Call me an idiot but for the life of me I cant figure this out.

Mathematical model that predicts tumor growth!
2006-12-24 21:41:03
Medical News Today: The aggressiveness of cancer tumours may be determined by the tissue environment in which they grow new research from the University of Dundee shows.Dr Sandy Anderson, of the Division of Mathematics at Dundee, has developed a mathematical model - similar in concept to weather forecasting but considerably more complex - which predicts how tumours grow and invade tissue. The results produced by the model have given startling insights into how cancerous tumours develop in the body. "What this model predicts is that the more barren and harsh the tissue environment surrounding it is, the more aggressive the tumour becomes," said Dr Anderson. The findings have the potential to impact on how certain cancers are treated, by forcing the environment around the tumour to be considered as a contributory factor in how aggressive the cancer is.The combination of maths and laboratory research to develop such models has been hailed as a "new era in cancer research" by Professor V...
Mathematical Modeling of Metastasis and Selection in Tumor M
2006-12-05 22:00:02
There’s a paper in last week’s issue of Cell that takes aim at alternative models of metastasis from a computational point of view that I’d like to mention briefly. In Tumor Morphology and Phenotypic Evolution Driven by Selective Pressure from the Microenvironment, Anderson et al. examine a list of variables that could impact cancer cell invasiveness. Cell is accepting comments, and Keith at Omics! Omics! has a brief post on the paper as well. Specifically, Anderson and colleagues interesting findings (from the abstract): Unexpectedly, the model simulations predict that harsh tumor microenvironment conditions (e.g., hypoxia, heterogenous extracellular matrix) exert a dramatic selective force on the tumor, which grows as an invasive mass with fingering margins, dominated by a few clones with aggressive traits. In contrast, mild microenvironment conditions (e.g., normoxia, homogeneous matrix) allow clones with similar aggressive traits to coexist with less aggressi...
