Matthew Vaughn No Longer Directing Thor
2008-05-08 22:28:00 What is with Matthew Vaughn signing up to direct Marvel movies and then dropping out (or being dropped). As some of you remember, Matthew Vaughn (who did an amazing job directing ?Stardust?, probably the single most over looked movie from last year) was originally supposed to direct the last X-Men film but then he backed out at the last minute to then be replaced by Brett Ratner. It was with great joy that we then heard Vaughn was brought on to direct the new Marvel film ?Thor?. This was great news for the god of thunder. However, it appears that yet again, Matthew Vaughn is off a marvel film he was supposed to do. The good folks over at IGN give us this: ?Matthew Vaughn no longer is attached to direct the project because his holding deal expired December.? Marvel Studios is currently waiting for I Am Legend screenwriter Mark Protosevich to turn in a script polish. ?It?s very much a Marvel superhero story but against the backdrop of nothing you?ve seen before,? Marvel Studios pres...

Exclusive: Matthew Vaughn Talks Thor
2008-03-10 22:26:00 Exclusive: Matthew Vaughn Talks ThorWill the comic book movie happen? Judging by his win at the Sony Ericsson Empire Awards, Stardust director Matthew Vaughn is pretty adept at the whole fantasy thing, so why the hell isn?t he hard at work at his long-mooted adaptation of Marvel?s none-more-Norse superhero, Thor? The answer, it seems, lays in the laps of the comic book gods.?We?re in a holding pattern at the moment,? he said. ?It?s up to Marvel, they have to decide if they want to make the movie and then we take it from there.??Holding pattern? may well be a cleverly masked way of describing ?development hell? but Vaughn, it seems, still has big ideas for Odin?s hammer-wielding son.?Well, the main role is going to be played by someone totally unknown,? he said. ?It can?t be a star, it?s got to be someone totally unknown.?Thor the comic book is well known for his overly lyrical dialogue and slightly ridiculous garb, which works well on the pag...
