They are a nice young couple and it was fun to share their day.As I had to return to Cancun, I stayed to work at the lobby of the Grand Palladium Colonial and both Erin and Curtis took their time to see how I was doing and get me some drinks. As the Grand Palladium doesn't charge a day pass for an external photographer, good for the couple, it's harder for me to get a coke or a coffee. 2008-05-21 23:37:00 I'm in Cancun since yesterday and had the wedding of Donna and Salvatore this morning at The Royal Cancun, a nice place and both Donna and Sal were very kind to me, taking care I had enough Coke and food while I worked at the lobby after the wedding, post-processing the images. Somehow the minister was told the ceremony started at 6pm, whereas everybody else was set for 5:30pm, so after the ceremony we had to rush for the portrait session to have nice pictures in the very little time left. Anyway, I think I was able to capture nice memories for Diana and Jason. By the way, the Dreams Tulum is a nice and photogenic place for a wedding. You can see the gallery here. 2008-01-25 12:48:00 Ancient Mayan temple builders used lustrous pigments to make their buildings dazzle in the daylight, says a Queensland University of Technology researcher. Rosemary Goodall, a physical and chemical sciences PhD researcher, studied tiny shards of paint from the Mayan city of Copan. Based on her observations, Rosemary reckoned that mica would have made the buildings glitter when hit by the sun. She says that the mica was applied over the red paint of stucco masks on the corners of Copan's well-preserved Rosalila temple, found buried under another pyramid. "The Rosalila would have been one of the highest buildings of the valley in its time, built by the Maya ruler to exhibit his power and impress his subjects," she said. With My background as a cultural anthropology minor in college I decided to do some research into Mayan Civilization particularly from a cultural perspective. The first thing that struck me was how far back the Mayan Civilization goes. It is believed that they came to our part of the world in the 4th ice age via the Bering Strait. My research has led me to believe that they originally descended from Egypt migrated through Asia and then onto Siberia, Alaska and what we call North America. As the Ice melted they migrated south. Most researchers are split with the Egyptian theory. I find that many of the cultural practices including the building of pyramids and their hieroglyphic language closely mirrored the Egyptian culture at various points of pre-historic and historic history.
