Secondhand Serenade Maybe
2008-02-20 14:09:00 Secondhand Serenade Maybe Lyrics Didn’t you want to hear the sound of all the places we could go Do you fear the expressions on the faces we don’t know It’s a cold hard road when you wake up and I don’t think that I Have the strength to let you go Maybe it’s just me, Couldn’t you believe that everything I said and ...

?Definitely, Maybe? Borrows From Successful Romantic Comedies, Adds Fresh H
2008-02-14 23:12:00 CHICAGO ? The makers of ?Love Actually? and ?Notting Hill? know how to do romantic comedy that doesn?t somehow fall into the trap of a formulaic chick flick like ?27 Dresses?. ?Definitely, Maybe,? which is their latest effort, on the other hand isn?t particularly original and really isn?t very funny. That said, the picture still feels fresh and doesn?t do anything overly cutesy that will elicit groans from the reluctant boyfriends who will be dragged to the film this weekend. So long as you pick a comfortable seat, you?ll have an enjoyable two hours. Ryan Reynolds plays Will Hayes: the quintessential Manhattan advertising executive. His hectic life gets a little crazier when he?s served with divorce papers. Click here to read Dustin Levell?s full reviewof ?Definitely, Maybe? in our reviews section! It?s tough at the top (or maybe just too damn frustrating)
2007-04-25 02:46:00 It?s not been a good year for captaincy. England was a case in point last autumn, with the job apparently hinged on how much of a tantrum the ?lead? bowler would throw if his mate wasn?t given it. In November, Chris Adams decided to take on more responsibility at Yorkshire, and seemed to get ...
Maybe I have Seasonal Affective Disorder in Reverse
2007-04-21 18:21:00 Whenever the sun is shining I tend to stay indoors, and when the weather is crap I go out. The weather here in Britain has been lovely this week, and as usual the British public has done its best to enjoy it to the utmost. (All except me of course.) My parents went out and left me alone at home today, so I just ended up rearranging and tidying things in my room. The books which can't fit into my bookcase were getting in my way so I've moved them all behind my bedroom door. The first two columns from the left are my to read piles (apart from a few dvds), and the third column is made up of books I've read. You might notice that I've found that book that I had misplaced last week...Ahmed asked me to go to that Asian gay club again last night, but I declined because I was still feeling a bit rough. My monthly feminine penance revisited me this week, and with the cold that I've been fighting off I felt I probably wouldn't be up for a wild night of fighting off my adoring fans.

The Future Of Audio Formats, Maybe It?s Just More Of The Same
2007-04-21 05:39:00 Excerpt About This Great Article From MUSicTECHnology.Net "I was intrigued by a well written article by Jack Scofield in the Guardian Unlimited. In it, he writes about the future of audio formats and what is to come, in particulary he talks about MP3, WMA and AAC formats and their advantages and disadvantages. I?m a fan of lossless, uncompressed audio with no DRM, it sounds better and it?s easier to use. There has been a lot of debate about DRM in the media lately, especially since a number of distributers have proposed dropping it altogether (EMI, etc). Whether or not DRM survives or thrives, the question about which audio format will succeed or conceed is an intersting topic to consider. With the advent of rapidly reduced costs and increased production of mega drives like the Hitachi terabyte hard drive, new possible considerations begin to arise." [MORE] at MUSTECH.NET! Getting ready to travel, yes, got an agent, maybe :)
2007-04-18 06:27:00 I've been looking around recently for my trip to florida as you might remember from earlier this month i mentioned, and since then i've been looking all over trying to find a good agent and network to manage my trip. Well recently I came across and interesting little network that apparently does some outstanding travel fulfillment, United Vacation Network. From what I can tell so far they're a smaller company and give alot more personal assistance to their individual clients. Whats more intersting is the latest suggestion of a bed and breakfast that I might be able to get into in florida rather than a hotel, but i'm still not sure if i'm more a B&B person or a hotel kinda guy. They're a complete travel design company, beyond just the location where i'm going to be staying, they've given me the option to travel by air or even to take a customized cruise (maybe it's time for me to reward myself for 5 years of nonstop work :) ) Their staff are all trained professionals a...

Cheapest way to find a great car? Maybe
2007-04-17 20:31:00 I drive a 1998 Hyundai Accent, and lets just say it's been around the block. Recently i discovered my car had decided to accumulate 3 gallons of water in the gas tank because of a rusted fuel pipe. So I began hunting for a new car, and low and behold I got an email to review a site, that just happened to be a car forum. What makes it really great is the fact it has just about everything when it comes to variety, Ford F150s, Dodge Chargers and Even some wicked Chevy Corvettes, yes it's for Used Cars, but considering new cars these days are priced mostly for the rich, i find it best to find a great deal on a nice used car. You get a car to get you from Point A to Point B and 10/10 times if you research on forums like carforums, you'll discover you can get some amazing deals on even moderately Used Cars. So the question comes down to is what car should I get to replace my aged hyundai accent? Anyone got any suggestions, My #1 priority is WICKED good gas mileage! Source: Car...

Maybe we want to look like aliens?
2007-04-16 19:56:00 The article 2007: A Face Odyssey in NY Times did a very interesting and thorough analysis on our socieity's ever-evolving standard of beauty and our extreme pro-youth anti-aging obsession, and our love affair with the uber-technology and our increasing desire to treat our bodies as an instrument to be modified to look humanoid rather than human."The faces I?m referring to seem to have arrived here by spaceship from some silent lunar landscape, rather than by the bawling and bloody process by which ordinary mortals enter the world. The Platonic ideal of beauty is now as it never was: more humanoid than human, more the product of an art director?s digitalized pastiche of desirable features than a naturally occurring phenomenon. The reasons for this include our increasingly sophisticated techniques for airbrushing flaws or imperfections out of the picture; our fascination with self-invention and technosexuality (also referred to as robot fetishism); our ever more phobic attitude towar...

Fidel Castro kinda, sorta, like, maybe better
2007-04-14 17:06:00 How come every couple of weeks or so we get another “Fidel Castro is kinda, sorta, maybe feeling a little better” story? Why not wait until he’s COMPLETELY recovered before reporting anything? Methinks that’s because of the propaganda value, both to the world and to Cuba’s citizens yearning to be free, of keeping Castro what ...

NO WANDERLEI, BUT MAYBE A SURPRISE OR TWO
2007-04-08 02:16:00 In a very emotional press conference in Japan for Dream Stage Entertainment's final Pride event – the promotion was recently purchased by Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta, the owners of the Ultimate Fighting Championship and World Extreme Cagefighting – DSE president Nobuyuki Sakikabara announced a proposed fight for Wanderlei Silva will not take place. On just a few hours notice, Pride was able to secure Akira Shoji to take on Gilbert Yvel. A visibly moved Shoji was proud to be able to participate on DSE's final Pride event. Yvel originally was scheduled to face Bazigit Atajev, but he had to withdraw due to an "internal disease."Sakikabara didn't stop there though. In his final moments as head of Pride, he announced that his final fight card may not yet be finished, "I am still working on surprises for [the] show. We have the official announcement of eight matches, but I am still working on giving you one more or maybe two more fights because that is the last thing that I can give ...

Congressional Diplomacy Better Than None At All, Maybe
2007-04-05 19:48:00 Today’s Washington Post Editorial, PRATFALL IN DAMASCUS is a fairly strong condemnation of House Speaker Nancy Pelosie’s Middle East “Tour.” Ms. Pelosi was criticized by President Bush for visiting Damascus at a time when the administration — rightly or wrongly — has frozen high-level contacts with Syria. Mr. Bush said that thanks to the speaker’s ...

Wal-Mart gives up on Manhattan, maybe NYC
2007-03-29 14:47:00 Wal-Mart, embattled by failed attempts to open stores in Queens and Staten Island, may be giving up on New York, or at the very least Manhattan. In an interview with The New York Times, published Wednesday, Lee Scott, Wal-Mart, chief executive and chairman, said that trying to conduct business in New York was so expensive that ?I don?t think it is worth the effort. I don?t care if we are ever here,? he told The New York Times at a meeting with editors and reporters on Tuesday. But Wal-Mart officials quickly clarified that Scott, who in the interview made repeated references to ?New York,? was referring to Manhattan, and not the entire city.

On board the ship Lasker found another traveler who was analyzing a chess position. The fellow, not knowing who Lasker was, offered to play him, giving Lasker queen odds. Lasker conveniently lost

Ann Coulter Has a New Book (Maybe She'll Tell Us How She Really Feels)
2007-03-20 12:53:00 Uh-oh. Someone let Ann Coulter near a computer long enough for her to reguritate a new book. From the title alone, If Democrats Had Any Brains, They'd Be Republicans you can pretty much guess what it will be about. Yep, more of the same: Democrats hate America, true Republicans are the warm, fuzzy example of how to lead prefectly virtuous lives while calling the opposition every bigoted name their god-fearing minds can conjure up. Classy stuff.Seriously, why would people keep buying her books? She repeats the same unfounded nonsense over and over. Of course, I guess she did branch out into evolution in her last book, but the ignorance she displayed there might actually be the answer to the repetitivness of her books. She doesn't know how to do anything except come up with creative ways to call people she doesn't agree with derogatory names. It's actually kind of sad. Ann Coulter's only real skill in life is to be a name-caller. What a trite and meaningless existence.U...

Maybe A-Rod just needs his mommy
2007-03-15 15:14:00 Has there ever been a superstar quite like Alex Rodriguez? I don't think I can ever remember an elite athlete who craves affection and reassurance the way A-Rod does.Michael Jordan? No way. Barry Bonds? Ha-ha. Rodriguez is generally regarded as baseball's most talented player, but he's still like a child constantly tugging at his mother's pants leg to feel safe. He is, quite possibly, the most fragile, high-maintenance superstar in sports history. If you've been paying attention you know that Rodriguez went on WFAN with hosts Mike and the Mad Dog a couple of days ago and said, basically, that if he leaves New York after this season it will be the fans' fault. It won't be his choice. It won't be because he wants more money. It won't be because he is simply not comfortable in Derek Jeter's shadow. It will be because THE FANS DON'T LOVE HIM ENOUGH!"Either New York is going to kick me out of New York this year, say, 'I've had enough of this guy, get him the hell out of here,'...

Sen. Arlen Specter: ?One day there will be a new attorney general, maybe so
2007-03-10 15:19:01 from the Washington Post by Paul Kane and Dan Eggen Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales agreed yesterday to change the way U.S. attorneys can be replaced, a reversal in administration policy that came after he was browbeaten by members of the Senate Judiciary Committee still angry over the controversial firings of eight federal prosecutors…. ….the administration has been battered by mounting allegations that several of the fired prosecutors — six of whom testified before Congress on Tuesday — had been the subject of intimidation, including improper telephone calls from GOP lawmakers or their aides, and alleged threats of retaliation by Justice Department officials. One prosecutor told lawmakers this week that he felt “leaned on” by a senior Republican senator, and Senate Democrats have readied subpoenas for five key members of Gonzales’ inner circle of advisers…. Maybe This Guy Can Kick on Dirt
2007-03-08 23:18:01 If there is one thing I have always disliked about Olindo Mare, it’s his constant bitching about the infield dirt at Dolphin stadium and using it as an excuse for his kicking woes the last few seasons. His consistency left something to be desired but his touchbacks were more valuable then we will ever know. It looks like the Olindo Mare era in Miami has finally come to an end. Arthur Staple reports in his Newsday column… Jay Feely wanted to stay with the Giants, but the Giants decided kicker wasn’t a position on which they needed to spend extra money. So they chose not to make a competitive offer and Feely agreed to a three-year, $6-million deal with the Dolphins last night, with roughly $2.5 million guaranteed, according to a person with knowledge of the contract details. Feely made 84 percent (58 of 69) of his field-goal attempts in two seasons with the Giants, though two of his most memorable games for Giants fans were unpleasant for him: The three missed kic...
