Sony sued in Meat Loaf logo row
2007-11-27 20:52:00 Sony Music must pay $5m (£2.4m) to a small record company for missing its logo off Meat Loaf's Bat Out of Hell album, a US court has ruled. The decision comes after a court settlement in 1998 decided Sony should include the Cleveland International logo on future copies of the record. But Sony failed to add the logo for more than a year afterwards. Cleveland founder Steve Popovich said: "I worked too hard for them and made them too much money to get robbed now."

2007-11-27 08:30:00 2 lb Ground beef; or mixture of beef/pork/veal1 sm Onion; chopped2 Eggs1 c Soft white bread crumbs1/2 c Parsley; chopped1/2 c Dry red Burgundy1 tb Basil; fresh1 1/2 ts Salt1/4 ts Pepper5 sl Bacon1 Bay leaf8 oz Tomato sauce with mushrooms, heatedCombine ground meat, onion, eggs, bread crumbs, parsley, wine, basil, salt and pepper in a large bowl; mix. Crisscross 3 bacon slices on a 12-inch square of aluminum foil; shape meatloaf mixture into a 6-inch round on top of bacon. Top with remaining bacon slices, halved, and bay leaf. Lift foil with loaf into slow cooker; cover. Cook on high 1 hour; turn heat control to low; cook 4 hours longer, or until meatloaf is well-done. Remove loaf from slow cooker by lifting the foil, tilting fat back into the slow cooker. Discard bacon and bay leaf. Serve on heated platter and spoon part of the heated tomato sauce over.

2007-11-23 07:47:00 Sony Music has been ordered to pay Steve Popovich $5 million for failing to put his company's logo on the reissue copies of Meat Loaf's Bat Out of Hell.The singer originally signed with Popovich's Cleveland International label in 1977 and had the Bat Out of Hell album released on it via Epic Records. When Sony bought CBS Records, of which Epic was a subsidiary, Popovich had to bring a lawsuit to obtain $6.7 million in back royalties. Part of the settlement was that the Cleveland International logo would appear on all future Meat Loaf albums.A number of years ago, a reissue was released by Sony that failed to include the logo. Popovich brought the new suit and won in 2005. The 60-year-old scrapped two gigs this week on doctor's orders, and was due to perform at Wembley Arena later. Meat Loaf said: "It really breaks my heart not to be able to perform these shows." He added: "I will be back." Speculation has surrounded the tour since Meat Loaf cut short a gig in Newcastle last week, calling it "the last show I may ever do in my life".
