The bird imagery, the use of light and dark to highlight the character of each of the players- they all add up to a masterpiece of observation and persuasion. Her Pulitzer Prize winning novel To Kill a Mockingbird (1960) and the film adaptation (1962) starring Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch had a great impact on me as both a reader and a writer.
