A peace offering - Methi-Dahi Bhindi
2008-04-28 05:12:00
Ever make one of those commitments that make perfect sense, when you are doing this, but come few weeks later when you are ready to actually go to the event, you wonder - "What was I thinking?" Well last Saturday was one of those instances for me.I had offered to help with organizing a local cultural event, which at time made a lot of sense, it would be a fun thing to do with the kids. Well, my son had the sniffles, I did try on Friday to bail out, but when I call the organizers I recieved a sob story on how much more needed to be done, so I was stuck. I was out most of the day, when I returned home, I recieved these, "How could you looks from my husband." In general I managed to make some peace by cooking bindi. Yes, my family could probably eat bhindi for an entire week without the slightest complaint.Methi-Dahi BhindiServes 4Ingredients1 lbs. bhindi cut lengthwise8 tbsp olive oil1 tsp turmeric1 tsp salt1 tsp cumin seeds1/2 tsp mustard seeds1 small onion, very finely chopped1 tsp ...

But some herbs like Fenugreek(Methi),Cilantro, Mint, and Basil are known for their distinct flavor, and can carry a dish entirely by themselves. Methi Pakodas(Fenugreek Fritters), aslo known as "Methi na Gota" in Gujarat, are one such fried food that is sure to please your palate. Fenugreek ( Methi ) Seeds - Top Heart Attack Fighters
2008-02-23 09:21:00
Fenugreek ( Methi ) Seeds Top Heart Attack Fighters - Fenugreek ( Methi ) SeedsThe high fibre and saponin content of fenugreek (methi) have a cholesterol lowering effect. Soluble fibre absorbs water, swells, and binds the bad cholesterol, helping to remove it from the body. An easy way to incorporate methi seeds in your diet is to add them to dals (while tempering) or vegetables, or sprout them and add to a regular vegetable salad. Alternatively, eat six to eight soaked methi seeds on an empty stomach on a regular basis to lower your blood cholesterol levels.Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) is a plant in the Family Fabaceae. It is commonly known as menthya (Kannada), Venthayam (Tamil), menthulu (Telugu) or Methi (Bangla, Hindi, Marathi). Fenugreek is used both as a herb (the leaves) and as a spice (the seed). Methi Malai Mutter Curry (Fenugreek and Peas Curry)
2007-09-23 23:37:00
"Methi" or Fenugreek is a wonderful green leafy vegetable full of antioxidants, vitamins and fiber. It helps cleanse your system, improve your eyesight and increase resistance and immunity level of your body against toxins. And though it is packed with nutrients, there's only one thing which could possibly draw you away from it, and that is it's slightly-bitter taste. I myself had tantrums about eating Methi when I was in my teens, until I discovered the world of methi parathas, methi bhajiyas (gotas) and very recently, Methi-Malai-Matar Gravy. It tastes amazing, not bitter at all, and goes perfectly well with rice or parathas. So here's sharing with you another healthy and tasty recipe!!Ingredients3 cups methi (fenugreek) leaves - washed and chopped1 cup boiled green peas1/2 onion - chopped finely2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste1 cup fresh cream3 large tbsp cashews1/2 cup milk1 tbsp green chilli paste2 tbsp ghee or butter1 tsp cumin seeds3 tbsp lemon juicesalt - to taste1 tbsp sugar (...
Instant Mushroom Methi Curry with Onion Rice

Last week we had a pre-Independence day party at home. The night before the party, since I was already busy with all preparations, I was in no mood for any elaborate cooking. We generally do not have rice on a week night, because we both prefer to have rotis or pasta / noodles. Rice comes to rescue when I want to get out of the kitchen in 15 minutes and my tiny Hawkins pressure cooker helps me

A very big Hi !!!! after a very long time to all my friends out there. I am sure by now you guys think that I have stopped blogging for good and also wondering why . But that's not the case the dears. I am very much still into blogging but its only the fact that I have had no broadband connection now for almost a month and a half that has stopped me. Other wise wild horses couldn't keep me away from my blog. I would also like to thank-you all for the wonderful comments you left on my photograph that got published in the newspaper. Well here I am back on my blog and feeling great about it. A couple of weeks ago we went on a picnic . It was a group of 5 families and we had a ball. We all took loads of stuff to eat and the kids really enjoyed the day out. The weather is certainly smiling on England these days and we did make the most of one such glorious Saturday. My contribution to the picnic was this simple to make but all-time favourite snack of Methi Theplas.--------------------...-

Nick Lachey and Vanessa M-Something Move in Together
2007-04-23 15:29:00
Yes, folks, this is still going on. In the latest installment of mildly interesting celebrity relationship news updates, we would like to report that Nick Lachey and his MTV sweetie, Vanessa Minnillo, are moving in together after being an item for a year. The two moved into their two-bedroom condo in Manhattan amid stormy weather, in stark contrast to the sunny outlook of their relationship. (Too much? Sorry, I'm in a weird mood...) So, yeah, I guess things are pretty serious between these two. Also, Vanessa's made it no secret that she's looking forward to motherhood. Last month, the TRL host told PEOPLE she couldn't wait to be a mom one day. "I want to bring three boys up to be good men in this world and then one little girl." She said. "I always say I want three boys and a girl but at the end of the day I just want healthy kids." I know what you mean, Vanessa. I say that I really want a boy and a girl, but at the end of the day, as long as they display super powers ...
And now for something different Ringtones
2007-04-23 10:32:00
I have tried lots of different ringtones over the years, currently I use some rumba music. I have had a fascination of why people buy ringtones. Could be individualism, to stand out, not sure about that, I try to keep my phone not know to others. Well, anyway I have several friends that spend money on the latest ringtones from artists like Chris Brown,Taylor Hicks, Gym Class Heroes, Rich Boy, Mike Jones, Lil Jon, James Blunt, Hinder, Fall Out Boy, Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley, Chris Daughtry, Regina Spektor, Mims, HELLOGOODBYE, The Feeling, Beyonce, Rodney Atkins, Fergie, Nelly Furtado, Christina Aguilera, Young Jeezy, Mika, Unk, and Jim Jones.  It really get kind of funny when several phone go off at one time with all the different music or sounds coming out of the cell phones.I like music, I listen to music, I am not sure it I want my ringtones to play music, now I like to download and play the music.  I am in the minority here.I guess music just happens.Cheers ...

Something better than froogle? Apparently they do exist
2007-04-21 15:40:00
Don't get me wrong I love froogle, but it's become so over ridden with people dumping stuff on it that 99% of the shops are illigitimate or atleast in my opinion "questionable" and I hate having to sort through the entire listing just to find what I want, considering 9 times out of 10 things like search for zune returns a bunch of stuff that has nothing to do with the actual audio / video item that i'm looking for, not to mention when it comes to searching for computer parts it always left much to the wishlist. Well I don't have to deal with that anymore from the looks of twenga, it's primarily for the UK but given how wicked fedex is does it really matter where sites are made for anymore :) Twenga takes just about every product under the sun, including those i linked to above, and even going into the complete opposite end of the spectrum from electronics by fully covering products like fashion and even the more riskay adult zone as they call it, and you can imagine th...

Layton A Hypocrite About Deal, May SaysFrom the Nova Scotia Chronicle Herald article by Stephen Maher:"There?s something wrong with Jack Layton if he?d rather open up discussions with the Taliban than the Green party," Ms. May said. The NDP has angrily denounced Ms. May and Liberal Leader Stephane Dion for agreeing not to run candidates in each other?s ridings. Ms. May says she has tried many times to persuade Mr. Layton to discuss similar co-operation, but he refuses to talk with her. It?s strange, given that Mr. Layton is happy to meet with Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Ms. May said."We know that Mr. Layton meets regularly with Stephen Harper," she said. "As a matter of fact Stephen Harper has praised Jack Layton as the leader of the opposition with whom he meets most often and finds the most co-operative."But Karl Belanger, Mr. Layton?s spokesman, brushed aside her comments."If, and that is a big if, she ever gets elected to Parliament, we might answer her silly attacks," he said....

A Kiss Is Just A Kiss, But Chocolate Is Something Special
2007-04-20 10:33:00
It's no secret that I love chocolate. But this might explain why there's been little, er, action at my house lately... (full text below)---------------------------------------------Chocolate boosts brain activity and increases heart rate more effectively than kissing, according to British researchers. The study, led by neurophysiologist Dr David Lewis, tested a group of six couples in their twenties and discovered volunteers reacted more strongly to chocolate than their partner's kiss.Heartbeats per minute more than doubled in some cases - increasing from a resting rate of 60 to 140. In addition, the buzz from the taste of chocolate produced a more sustained reaction with volunteers feeling the effects up to four times longer than those generated by a kiss.Participants tasted a piece of dark chocolate>, provided by confectionery giant Cadbury, and the surprising response was noted equally in men and women.Chocolate's feel good factor is widely recognised by consumers and the prod...

Why is it that everything the neo-conservative movement has done has become riddled with corruption? I do not wish this to be a polemic. Politics is, after all, part graft. Something to change the world you can do today - Climate Change Bill
2007-04-18 15:53:00
Message from Friends of the EarthThe Government has published a consultation on its Climate Change Bill. This Bill, if passed, will make emission reduction targets legally binding. This is great news and a campaign victory for Friends of the Earth’s ‘The Big Ask’ campaign. However, the Bill is not perfect and needs to be improved. In particular, the Bill does not include rapidly growing emissions from international aviation and shipping. Research has shown that, without tackling emissions from aviation, the Government’s climate targets could be impossible to meet. Please take action and tell the Government that the Bill must include aviation and shipping. Click here and put your views into the consultation.

In Memory Of : Eddie Cochran - Something Else (1959)
2007-04-17 21:54:00
Eddie Cochran died after a car accident on this day (April 17th) in 1960. Therefore this track as a special tribute, in memory of.Somehow, time has not accorded Eddie Cochran quite the same respect as other early rockabilly pioneers like Buddy Holly, or even Ricky Nelson or Gene Vincent. This is partially attributable to his very brief lifespan as a star: he only had a couple of big hits before dying in a car crash during a British tour in 1960. He was in the same league as the best rockabilly stars, though, with a brash, fat guitar sound that helped lay the groundwork for the power chord. He was also a good songwriter and singer, celebrating the joys of teenage life -- the parties, the music, the adolescent rebellion -- with an economic wit that bore some similarities to Chuck Berry. Cochran was more lighthearted and less ironic than Berry, though, and if his work was less consistent and not as penetrating, it was almost always exuberant.Cochran's mid-'50s beginnings in the recor...
