Bisping To Make Middleweight Debut In March
2007-12-20 22:03:00
Earlier this week, the UFC's Thomas Gerbasi announced that TUF 3 winner Michael Bisping would be dropping to his natural weight class following a less than stellar effort against Matt Hamill and a split decision loss to Rashad Evans.UFC's Middleweight class is well known for being the least deep while controlled by the sport's most dominant champion. These contrasting truths make this an interesting decision on Bisping's part. On one hand, he will most likely be considered a Top 5 fighter in the division whereas among the 205 pounders, he wasn't among the Top 10. On the other hand, once he climbs the short ladder to a title shot, he'll have his ass handed to him by the most dominant UFC champion since Chuck Liddell.Bisping elaborated on the move: ?Even though I?ve never fought at middleweight, I?ve gone back and forth with the decision to go down pretty much my whole career.  Even from my very first pro fight (April 2004), people were telling me that I was a little too smal...
Michael Bisping Moving Down to 185
2007-12-14 18:27:00
Prior to his fight with Rashad Evans back at UFC 78, Michael ?The Count? Bisping mentioned on a number of occasions that he would consider dropping down to 185 if he were to lose that fight. Bisping went on to lose the fight with Evans by a very close split decision and the idea of ...
Rashad Evans and Michael Bisping Post UFC 78 Interview Video
2007-11-21 13:54:00
Rashad Evans and Michael Bisping comment on their UFC 78 main event fight. Rashad states that Bisping was tough as hell and that their fight was one of Bisping’s best fights ever. Evans states that he didn’t preform as well as he wanted to. Bisping responded that he wants to get back to fighting ASAP. He agrees that he made a few mistakes and should have pushed the fight a bit more. Bisping also responds to how he was booed by the Newark NJ crowd and how that would not happen in England.
UFC 78 Validation Results - Rashad Evans vs Michael Bisping Who Won?
2007-11-18 16:58:00
Don’t laugh, we went to UFC 78 Validation last night at the new Prudential Center in Newark NJ. In another post, I’ll talk a bit about the atmosphere, the celebrities who showed up, the madness around the arena, but for now, here are the results of last night’s fights. Akihiro Gono defeated Tamdan McCrory in the Second Round with an Armbar Marcus Aurelio defeated Luke Caudillo with a TKO like a total badass in Round One. Joe Lauzon finished Jason Reinhardt like nothing in Round One with a rear naked choke. In a controversial ending Thiago Alves defeats Chris Lytle via doctor stoppage in Round Two - The fans were completely pissed off continuous “booing”. Frankie Edgar who received a ton of New Jersey support (he’s from Toms River New Jersey) dominated Spencer Fisher and won via an unanimous decision. Ed Herman defeated Joe Doerksen with a sick Knockout in Round Three.  Joe was hurt pretty good and needed assistance out of the octagon. Karo...

UFC 78 Winner of Rashad Evans vs Michael Bisping Gets a Title Shot Against
2007-10-20 15:38:00
According to Gareth Davies of the UK Telegraph, it appears as if the winner of the Michael Bisping vs Rashad Evans UFC 78 main event will get an opportunity for a light-heavyweight title shot against Quinton Rampage Jackson.  According to the Telegraph, “Dana White, the UFC President, says that the winner will gain an automatic world light-heavweight title shot. Bisping believes it is the chance of a lifetime.”.  At UFC 78, both fighters will put their undefeated records of 15 wins and no losses on the line and fight for an opportunity for the gold.  Bisping states, “Rashad’s the toughest opponent of my career, no doubt, and he seems to get better and better with each fight. But I want to test myself against the best fighters in the world and I think I’ve got the tools to beat Rashad in what I am sure will be a war.”  Expect a brawl folks.
Round Robin Leaves Hamill In The Dust
2007-10-10 07:32:00
With Michael Bisping booked against Tito Ortiz's expect opponent (Rashad Evans), and Ortiz being put up against Dan Henderson, Matt Hamill has been left out to dry, with no opponent and no rematch against the man whom he beat.Apparently, Dana White and Joe Silva are making a conscious effort to let the past be the past and have since booked Bisping and Evans in a match up of TUF winners. The winner will most likely get the UFC "future stamp of approval," setting them up to be the unofficial #2 or #3 contender.Rather than bother Ortiz with another fight against Evans, he'll face Dan Henderson, which will either resurrect his career...or end it. Similar to Liddell's potential bout with Silva, this is a chance for the two vets to put up or shut up. And for Hendo (and Silva) it's a chance to prove they belong in the world's premier fighting organization.Meanwhile, the man who actually won a fight in the last three months (something Bisping, Evans, and Ortiz can't say) is stuck ...
Around The Horn

Match booking was the name of the game this weekend, as some blockbusters (and equally spectacular surprises) were made official.FOXSports has the Nogueira-Kongo bout, first scheduled to take place at UFC 79, now happening in "early 2008," according to Dave Meltzer. This fantastic match (and potential #1 contender fight) should be one of the bigger wars we've seen in years. It features one of the true veterans of the sport against the HWs newest star. I know it seems as though the division has a new star every week (Gabriel who?), but Kongo is LEGIT.Matt Hammil is "in shock" (read: furious) with the Evans-Bisping booking at UFC 78. I can't really understand it either, considering that Rashad Evans-Tito Ortiz and Michael Bisping-Matt Hammil were probably the two most unresolved bouts of the year, but Joe Silva knows what he's doing. In my most disappointing moment of the weekend, the Kimbo-Tank fight, to be held at Cage Fury 6, has been canceled. I don't know quite what to ma...
Rashad Evans to fight Michael Bisping at UFC 78!
2007-10-04 04:34:00
It was just announced that Rashad Evans will NOT be fighting Tito Ortiz as many expected. However, he will be fighting Michael Bisping, who is coming off of a very controversial win, at UFC 78. Read here to see how this affects the card. This was a huge surprise to all people (including myself), not to mention Rashad. It will be the first time that two Ultimate Fighter winners will fight each other. This boosts up the UFC 78 card a great amount.Right as Sherdoggers started complaining about the lack of exciting fights on the UFC 78 card, Dana sets this fight. This is a GREAT move in my opinion, because while doing this, Dana sets up a Tito vs. Henderson fight.BOOM. UFC 78 would then have two great headliners, plus a Karo fight. This isn't even mentioning the great under card fights that UFC 78 will contain. This is a wonderful decision by Dana.Being a fan of "The Count", I have to give this one to Bisping. Due to Bisping having a lot to prove to everyone after his controversial "win...
Bisping Wants Hamill Rematch
2007-09-20 05:54:00
Not content to let the scorned Hamill request first, Michael Bisping has jumped the gun and asked for the rematch on his own. He cited constant critiques from the media as his reason to attempt to settle the controversy. He spoke to The Sun, and said this: "I?m getting so much shit. I got the decision, I went through the fight and I got the win ? it?s not like I went out there and got knocked out in 30 seconds. I think people need to realize that. It was a good, exciting fight and I think people are focusing on the negatives and not looking at the positives."Bisping admitted that Hamill was improved but also noted that he doesn't need any controversy surrounding his wins. He wants them to be unanimous and definitive. And so now it will be up to Hamill, the man who said Bisping's punches didn't connect during the famed second round, to either accept and make this a certainty or wait for Dana White to declare it on his own.It will be interesting to see whether or not this rematc...
Michael Bisping Wants a Rematch Against Matt Hamill
2007-09-19 05:11:00
According to UK’s the Sun, Michael Bisping wants a rematch of his UFC 75 fight against Matt Hamill.  Bisping stated to the Sun, “I thought it was a close fight, closer than I would have liked it to have been. But I’ve called the UFC and asked for a rematch because I feel I could do a lot better.”  Bisping continues, “I want a rematch as soon as possible – I don’t want to waste too much of my career on Matt Hamill.” Bisping admitted that he was surprised by Hamill’s improved stand up, but feels that he won the fight fair and square. “…it’s not like I went out there and got knocked out in 30 seconds. I think people need to realize that”. Read the full article on the Sun’s website.

So maybe it wasn't the explosive card most expected, but it provided enough big hits, big submissions, and controversy to classify it as a quality event.Houston Alexander vs. Alessio SakaraAlexander continued his post-Jardine KO rise to the top with another dominating performance, this time over more-than-competent Sakara. He should start to get some legitimate contenders in his sights if he continues this run.Marcus Davis vs. Paul TaylorI'm going to go ahead and call this the most exciting fight of the night. The Irish Hand Grenade (Davis) took an early lead only to barely get knocked out later in the first round. He fought hard from the Brits guard, eventually ceasing the pounding and ending the fight with what later won "Submission of the night."Cheick Kongo vs. Mirko FilipovicKongo flat out dominated Cro Cop in this three round decision. When striking, Kongo didn't let himself get in CC's range while delivering inside leg kick after inside leg kick. On the ground, where...
Please Stop Whining About Bisping
2007-09-11 04:12:00
I don't want to hear that Hamill was cheated out of a win, or the judges were paid, or the UFC has pre-determined decisions. Let's be real here...Bisping won...it's in the past. And just for those of you who make ridiculous claims like "UFC is corrupt!"...Dana White has already announced a rematch...is everyone happy?I personally feel that although Bisping fought a horrible fight, he should've won. Here's a little excerpt that I found that everyone should read. It is Jeff Mullen (one of the judges for the fight) explaining why he scored Bisping as the winner:"I am only going to tell you why I judged the fight the way I did. Watch the fight again and turn off the sound. Commentary can color what you see. No doubt Hamill dominated the 1st. He hurt Bisping with a right hand right off the bat and again near the end of the round. He out scored Bisping and busted him up. It was a very impressive round for Hamill but still a 10-9 round. Not dominant enough for 10-8. Watch the beginnin...

Kongo and Hamill look to defy Crocop and Bisping at UFC 75
2007-09-07 16:54:00
With UFC 75 being polished for delivery, it is easy to forget the historic Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Dan Henderson title unification bout is not the only fight on the card. Mirko Crocop looks to use Cheick Kongo as a Gabriel Gonzaga stand in, while Matt Hamill sets out to prove he would have won season 3 of The Ultimate Fighter. Get in-depth now!Quinton Jackson battles Dan Henderson to unify the UFC and Pride 205 titles on September 8, 2007 in London, England. The magnetism of what could be mixed martial arts? most important fight in history is well deserved. There is, however, an undercard that requires attention.Mirko Crocop was once known as MMA?s stand-up fighting version of fear. After capturing Pride?s 2006 Open Weight Grand Prix Champion, the Croatian left behind Japan?s honored war zone for the rabid arenas of the UFC.The structural change of the fighting arena, which Crocop failed to train for, caught up with him in the form of severe underdog and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ch...
Does Bisping Deserve Better?
2007-08-23 09:05:00
TUF 3 winner Michael Bisping, who is now set to take on Matt Hamill at UFC 75, has routinely expressed his displeasure with this opponent, citing that he should be facing only the best in his climb to the top. The undefeated Brit had this to say on the topic: ?And if he?s hoping that I?m gonna cut corners in training he?ll be very upset when he reads this ? because I?m going to Big Bear to train for a month with Rampage Jackson. That?s how keen I am to put on the performance of my life and smash this arrogant egomaniac to bits. I?ve done a complete 180 ? I?ve never been so excited and motivated for a fight in my career because I am fighting a guy I can?t stand personally. No way am I losing to this egomaniac ? and I am really excited to go to California to train with a fighter of the level of Rampage.?Bisping also mentioned that he considers it a step backwards since he won The Ultimate Fighter and Hamill did not. Some have called this brash, but I've got to agree...for a number of...

UFC 75 to Air FREE on Spike TV!
2007-07-17 05:11:00
So it looks like UFC president Dana White isn't as Satanic as he makes himself seem, he can do us some good deeds from time to time. UPDATE: Shamrock v. Bisping
2007-06-21 23:51:00
Last Monday rumors of Ken Shamrock facing Michael Bisping were floating around the Internet, claiming Shamrock to be Matt Hamill's replacement for UFC 75.Despite the rumors about Shamrock and Bisping, former opponent Matt Hamill is still set to face Michael Bisping on September 8th's UFC 75 event.Matt Hamill (3-0) was a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter 3 television series and currently trains under Tito Ortiz. Hamill's most recent win was at UFC 68: The Uprising, where he pulled the victory against Rex Holman via TKO (due to strikes), just four minutes into the first round.Looks like Ken Shamrock is going to have to join the audience and sit this one out.Last Monday's article can be found here. The Lianger
UFC 75: Bisping vs. Shammy?
2007-06-18 20:02:00
The rumors claim yet another addition to UFC 75's card. According to The Fight Network, The Ultimate Fighter 3 light heavyweight winner Michael Bisping (13-0) will go toe-to-toe with UFC Hall of Famer Ken Shamrock (26-12-2), in place of Matt Hamill, at UFC 75 in London, England on Sept. 8.Shamrock suffered a loss to Franklin, Sakuraba, and Ortiz twice, all by way of TKO in his most recent MMA matches. With Shamrock's string of bad luck upon his return, who knows what Bisping, who is undefeated in the Octagon, has in store for good ol' Shammy. Bisping's three wins in the Octagon have all been way of TKO.This would be the 43-year-old Shamrock's chance to pull a "Randy Couture" and come out with a victory.Stay classy,The Lianger
Michael Bisping vs. Ken Shamrock at UFC 75
2007-06-18 16:21:00
Ken Shamrock, front, having his ass stared at by Dana WhiteThe Ultimate Fighter 3 light heavyweight winner Michael Bisping (13-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) will fight UFC Hall of Famer Ken Shamrock (26-12-2 MMA, 7-6-2 UFC) — not Matt Hamill — at UFC 75 in London, England on Sept. 8. That’s the report from The Fight Network. Bisping was originally expected to face his former castmate Matt Hamill. Ticketmaster released an event description last week that included the matchup. Instead, though, Loretta Hunt says that Shamrock will come out of retirement to face Bipsing at the event, which takes place at the 02 Arena. After topping Josh Haynes in The Ultimate Fighter 3 Finale, Bisping defeated Eric Schafer with a first-round TKO at UFC 66. Then, in front of a Manchester crowd at April’s UFC 70 event, he scored a second-round TKO of Elvis Sinosic. Shamrock has been fighting professionally for nearly 14 years and competed in the very first UFC event. The submission specialist left the UFC for s...
