He was sued by one woman, Eloisa Tamez, a property owner. He threatened her that he was going to seize her small piece of land along the banks of the Rio Grande. With the help of Peter Schey of the Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law, Chertoff ultimately lost that law suit, which set a precedent for other victims of Chertoff. This story out of the Washington Times with a shocking claim--a Mexican national named Amado Isidro Armendariz Amaya, who was infected with a highly contagious form of TB crossed our border 76 times this year and took multiple flights within the US. According to the story, Customs was warned on April 16th but Homeland Security didn't issue an alert until six weeks later.SIX WEEKS!!!!The CDC reports that the airlines are only notified if the infected person was on a flight for eight hours or more! This story is a perfect example of conflicted emotions for the left. They have been clamoring for the resignation of embattled DOJ chief Alberto Gonzalez but are now likely to get the equally despised head of DHS, Michael Chertoff, taking his place. I can hear the gnashing of lib teeth already. Alberto Gonzalez was obviously out of his depth at DOJ and it is now rumored that he is finally bowing to pressure to leave. Michael Chertoff, the head of the DHS, is probably one of the most pretentious would-be law enforcement leaders to date, and if you saw his vicious smear of conservatives and proponents of immigration enforcement, you'll see just how awful he really is. He's also been undermining the war on terror by refusing to discuss if Islam is a motivation behind a lot of terrorist attacks and plots.
