I had a great weekend that started out thinking I would breeze through having our 17 month old niece spend the night Friday. The title is appropriate: a story of a man who's a great lawyer, not such a good friend, and an unsuccessful family man. There's a little of The Firm, Civic Action and Erin Brokovich - a crusade of individual against an evil corporation, but for the most part the focus of the movies is drama of human beings who just happen to be lawyers.

The film finds Clooney playing a corporate lawyer who's kind of the undertaker of the law firm. He's the one who "cleans up the mess" and takes care of the dirty work that the other lawyers don't want to be responsible for. The film examines his work and his crumbling personal life and shows that even lawyers can have a soul. Ha! Yeah right. The interesting thing about this movie is that this is the directorial debut for Tony Gilroy of the 'Bourne' series fame.
