Minor League Team Drops Michael Vick Promotion
2008-04-19 07:00:00
The Kansas City T-Bones probably made a wise decision in deciding not to have a ‘Welcome to the Neighborhood’ promotional night at the park for Michael Vick that they had already been promoting.  MV7 is serving his 23-month prison sentence in nearby Leavenworth, Kansas. The Kansas City T-Bones of the Northern League had planned to have a Michael Vick “Welcome to the Neighborhood” night May 28, complete with prison uniforms, spotlights and escape sirens. Other events promoting caring for animals also were planned. Vick was sentenced back in December for financing and participating in an illegal dogfighting ring.

SOHH Sports: Michael Vick Sentenced to 23 Months in Prison - Fair or Not Fa
2007-12-11 17:44:00
By now y'all should all know that Michael Vick was sentenced to 23 months in prison yesterday for running his dogfighting operation. Vick actually got a longer sentence than his two co-defendants because the judge deemed that he lied about his involvement with the whole thing. Basically, with good behavior, Vick should be released in 18 months or the summer of 2009. That means dude will be 29 when he's released. And if the NFL allows him back, we'll see what kind of shape he's in and if any team hollers at him. I'm sure some team will, but I don't want to bring football up here. My question to y'all is simple: Is the sentence fair or not? Listen having dogs fight till their death is wrong. Point blank. But to keep it funky, Vick has been made the face of dogfighting. They want to make an example out of dude to say something to the effect of, 'If you participate in dogfighting...this will happen to you.' That's the part that bothers me about it, but I understand...

Michael Vick Sentenced To Prison
2007-12-11 16:00:00
NFL Star, Michael Vick was sentenced yesterday to 23 months in a federal penitentiary for his personal role in the execution of seven dogs in April 2007. With good behavior, he will be eligible for release in May 2009. According ESPN, if Vick, who filed a guilty plea Aug. 24, had cooperated with FBI agents and probation officials, the sentence could easily have been between 12 and 18 months.SHAMELESS OPINION:This is a sad day in football! One of the best talents in the game has been put in the pen. Sometimes you have to learn your lesson the hard way. I can understand the hood sport of fighting dogs, but some people should stay out of it when they hit a certain level of fame and success! You can take the man out of the hood, but you can't take the hood out of the man.
