2007-10-08 22:03:00 How can it be over 85 degrees in early October? It took me over three hours to sleep last night. Parts of my body that I didn't know were capable of sweating were indeed excreting sweat. Despite having two fans blowing on me with only a pair of shorts on I successfully soaked my whole bed which I believe is a Guinness World Record. But this morning was the worst. When I woke up, I was still completely drenched and flustered like a drunken man after finishing a bowl of peanuts who was still hungry for me. I was trying to get down the ladder next to my loft but for some reason I couldn't move. Little did I know, my body was stuck to the fitted sheet which is attached to the mattress. Therefore, I was carrying my mattress like a backpack when I realized I was in trouble. I couldn't get the mattress off me, it was stuck so I had to ask my roommate for help. I'm already scoping out clubs like the Ad Association and MSU AAF called Cedar Banks.The campus is quite nice, but I have my complaints- check out Beyond Madison Avenue (soon) to see what I'm talking about. It seems like time travels much faster up here. The bulk of my classes are on Monday and Wednesday. On Tuesday and Thursday I only have one and it still seems like I'm struggling to find time for anything. I'm trying to make a "creative bundle" and this venture has taken over a month. Dry camp mix, sleeping bag, fishing equipment, tarp, clothes, matches, and a few utensils were all that was needed for a stay in the local woods. If this is your first time, here's a Camping Checklist. Don't forget a comfortable collapse-able chair. (For those also "living large" I personally recommend the MaxxDaddy chair.)After meeting my wife, a tent, sleeping pad, and many more "essentials" were added. With each child, our camping practices slowly evolved to staying only in modern campsites. Modern is defined by my wife as having modern restrooms with hot showers and electricity at the campsite. 2007-07-14 02:21:00 June 30th was my first visit to J.W. Wells State Park in Cedar River Michigan. Cedar River is located about 30 miles south of Escanaba in the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan. From Oakland County, the trip was around nine hours including stops and no construction. US 2 follows the southern UP shoreline for many miles before turning inland. Big and Little Bay De Noc's are some of the best fishing sites in the Upper Peninsula. There were about a hundred boats visible on June 30th. The city has most chain stores and excellent shopping.J.W. Wells State Park has very wide spaces. The park was almost full Saturday but only 50 percent full Sunday night. Facilities are very modern and appeared to have been recently renovated. We were able to get a site with a spectacular view of Green Bay. Lake Michigan's shoreline was very rocky and with the lake level being approximately a foot low, several species of plants and trees were growing between the campsite and Lake Michigan.Fi...
