Today, I watched New York City’s Mayor, Mike Bloomberg, introduce Barack Obama as he made his economy speech at Union Station. Give It Up For Mike Bloomberg?
2008-03-27 14:30:00
He certainly knows how to keep his name in the news, as he is introducing Barack Obama today for an economic speech in NYC. I’m not expecting him to formally endorse, but he’d probably consider it if he were otherwise going to get ignored. Mike Bloomberg will not run for president (in 2008)
2008-02-29 03:09:00

Bloomberg: Cast A Giant Shadow
2008-02-28 15:03:00
Chickaboomer to NYC Mayor Bloomberg: Shut the eff up. After months of dangling a possible independent presidential run, Bloomberg loftily proclaims himself a non-candidate in a NYT op-ed today. NYT Whaddijathinkwuzgonnahappen? Cable Tee Vee's making a big deal of Bloomberg's BS - playing right into the narcissistic megalomaniac's hands. Bloomberg's ego is terrified he won't be a playa: "In the weeks and months ahead, I will continue to work to steer the national conversation away from partisanship and toward unity; away from ideology and toward common sense; away from sound bites and toward substance. And while I have always said I am not running for president, the race is too important to sit on the sidelines, and so I have changed my mind in one area. If a candidate takes an independent, nonpartisan approach ? and embraces practical solutions that challenge party orthodoxy ? I?ll join others in helping that candidate win the White House."More from the NYT & NYDNAn aside: ...
Dick Morris: Will NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg Run?
2008-01-13 16:03:00
Received via email WILL NYC MAYOR MIKE BLOOMBERG RUN?Mike BloombergBy DICK MORRIS & EILEEN MCGANNPublished on FoxNews.com on January 11, 2008.While Obama and Clinton wrestle and the four Republican candidates face one another, New York City Mayor Michael BloombergÂ’s shadow increasingly falls over their playing field. Armed with as much money as he could possibly need to run, this Democrat-turned-Republican could throw the entire race into chaos.Bloomberg can wait and watch the primaries unfold before making his move. A byproduct of the front loading of the primaries in both parties is that the nominees will probably be chosen with plenty of time for a third party candidate to enter the field. The New York City mayor could either get himself nominated by the Green Party, formerly the vehicle for gadfly Ralph Nader, or set up his own party by petition in the 50 states. His massive financial resources make it possible for him to wait until early Spring before he has to begin colle...
Mike Bloomberg Lacks Enough Experience To Be President
2008-01-10 12:51:00
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who's reported to be "exploring" a run for president, simply lacks enough experience to be President of The Unted States in my view. Bloomberg may have built a company in his name and ran for Mayor of New York and won, but he's never had to deal with the complex politics of Congress and getting a bill through the process in Washington. I don't know what's going on, but what's it with these New York mayors who think they can run the freaking country? Look, I love New York. I've got great friends there. But America's not that city and thus it's not the perfect testing ground for a presidential candidate. Mike? Look. Be an effective leader. Back Barack Obama!
Mike Bloomberg Researching Presidential Run
2008-01-10 04:25:00
After a bipartisan gathering in Oklahoma, word has it Mayor Mike Bloomberg has begun research efforts into a possible third party run for President.According to the AP, data collection began months ago and has yet to be analyzed. This includes polling from every state in the Union, voter trends and level of support. With an estimated worth of $11.5 billion, Bloomberg is known for going after things that are achievable and winnable. He spent $155 million in his run for Mayor in 2001 and 2005 and has become possibly more popular than former Mayor Rudy Giuliani. While this shows serious consideration from Bloomberg and his team, it is not definite if he will announce a third party contention. In a system made for two parties, it becomes very difficult for a third party candidate to achieve a single electoral vote. Ross Perot who ran in 1992 and 1996, achieved over 19% of the popular vote in his first presidential run, but did not win any electoral votes. In fact, the last third party ca...

Martin To Critics: Drop Dead
2007-12-18 20:48:00
Barack Obama assails the FCC for backing Goliath v David. B & C The bane of FCC head trip Kevin Martin's existence, Democratic FCC commish Michael Copps called today's vote to relax media ownership rules a "shiny gift for big media and a lump of coal for the rest." Media Access Project's Andrew Schwartzman on his nemesis Martin: "He caved in to lobbying from the media giants, giving a pass to them so that they can retain TV and radio stations they were supposed to have divested months and years ago. And he is even giving Rupert Murdoch a new crack at keeping two huge TV stations in New York despite his acquisition of The Wall Street Journal."NYT Even the Murdoch-pimping paper weighed in. NYPMAP to Kevin: See ya in court! Bloomberg reported yesterday that 25 senators sent Martin a letter urging him to delay the vote or else! Portfolio's Jeff Bercovici: "It wasn't pretty but Kevin Martin got the job done."
The ad that Hillary, Rudy, or Mike Bloomberg won?t make

[From: Inside Long Island Politics - Spin Cycle] Once in a while New York’s political players can use a reminder that the rest of the country marches to, well, a different rythm. Mike Bloomberg Buying 2008 Election Related Google Adwords
2007-10-28 02:13:00
Just saying is all… I noticed today that Mike Bloomberg has purchased Google Adwords, some of which must be related to the 2008 election, since they are popping up with other election related links on election related stories. I don’t think this means anything other than an attempt to drive some traffic to his website, ...
Breaking News: Steam Pipe Explosion in Manhattan
2007-07-19 03:40:00
A five alarm situation has been called in Manhattan after a major steam pipe exploded at 38th and Lexington Ave. in midtown New York City about an hour ago. Geysers continue to erupt in massive amounts, shooting up at least ten stories. Initial reports had it that buildings began to vibrate before the explosion, which has injured 11 people. Two of the injured are listed as being in critical condition considering the extreme heat and ability to burn skin that comes with such a steam pipe. Witnesses say that the initial eruption sent geysers as high, if not higher than the apartment buildings that line the surrounding blocks (20+ stories). The area is currently being quarantined as fears over possible asbestos issues related to the explosion are dealt with. All available offices and departments are on the scene trying to stop the extreme flow of super-heated steam emerging from the manhole. An explanation for the explosion has yet to be given but officials are quick to state that this...

Giuliani: Stop Copying Me!
2007-06-22 22:42:00
If Mike Bloomberg runs for President, it would only be to destroy Rudy Giuliani's chances. How can Rudy run on his record as mayor if Bloomberg did everything he did, but better? So Rudy is defending himself, trying to paint Bloomberg as a copycat and himself as the original;"I think I started that. I think I created that revolution, and I think Mayor Bloomberg has continued it, and I admire him very much for doing that. I will always admire him, whether he becomes a Democrat, an independent or whether he becomes a Republican again."Yes, you started it, Bloomberg continued it, and he did it better. So if you're qualified to be President, so is Mike, except he'll do it better.Hey Rudy...checkmate
