2009-04-08 16:47:00 I don’t want to jinx myself , so I’ll try to keep this post short and to the point. Today makes 6 full months that Ive been hospital free! May not sound like a big deal to some, but believe me, for me…it is! By comparison, last year I was hospitalized 5 times, (or appx once every 2.5 months) …a record even for me. The year before that wasn’t much better at 4 admissions. Even during a so called “good breathing” year, I usually end up in the pokey at least once or twice, so wouldn’t it be something if I could go an entire year with NO ADMISSIONS!!! Oh my god…..UCSFs Respiratory Dept would go out of business. I really don’t know what to attribute this success to. My disease hasn’t gotten any better, on the contrary…my PFTs are actually worse, but I think I’m getting a little better at quashing the minor flare-ups before they turn into big ones. It could also be that I’m doing a better ...

2008-10-01 07:44:00 Miss Turtle hit a milestone birthday this month. She entered the world of double digits. That is right. My baby is 10 years old. We had a huge party for her at the bowling alley with all of her family (which she has a lot of) and her friends. Silly girl went to blow out her candles and her tooth fell out. It was pretty funny but we were all just glad the tooth stayed in her mouth and didn't land on the cake.It is hard for me to believe that she is already 10. She has done so much and come so far. This Fall he will board the big school-bus each morning bound for kindergarten and travel down the next road in his education's journey.He has been in preschool for three years. He has a September birthday and we live in a public-school district with an August 1st cutoff. So when he started three-year old preschool in the fall of 2005 he was one of the youngest in the class. He was barely potty-trained and he clung to my like glue as I said good-bye the first few weeks. I was afraid he would never adjust and he would be attached to my hip until he was 18.Now, three years later, I drop him off and he barely looks back to say 'good-bye'. As I call him back to give him a kiss on the cheek he rolls his eyes as if to say, "MOM, PLEASE, not in front of my friends!"
