2009-09-21 20:24:00 I was once a huge advocate of the Mets acquiring Milton Bradley, I was willing to accept the 50lbs. of baggage he brought with him for the talent he would provide.Since 2003 he has hit .267 or better every year and four of those years he hit over .300 with a lifetime Slg. pct. .450 and OBP .371. In 2008 he was selected to the All-Star team and received League MVP votes (17). He is an injury risk but nothing significant over the past five seasons he averaged 132 gms. per season with his high point being 141 in 2004 and low 75 gms in 2005. In 2007 Bradley was signed by the A's, during the season he was injured and the team asked him to slow his rehab to get a look at a youngster, when he refused he was DFA. Padres Acquire Milton Bradley
2007-06-29 22:55:00 According to Tom Krasovic of the San Diego Union-Tribune, the Padres have acquired Milton Bradley from the A's for 26 year-old reliever Andrew Brown. Krasovic says Bradley would play left field for the Padres if healthy. The Padres got Brown from the Indians in the Josh Barfield deal. Oddly, the Indians got Brown from the Dodgers before that for Milton Bradley. Brown throws in the mid-90s, even touching 99 at times. He could make a useful reliever for Oakland. Bradley and Michael Barrett look like a couple of low-risk, decent reward acquisitions for Kevin Towers. He's really a smart GM. He's definitely added some fire to the clubhouse with these trades. And don't forget Paul DePodesta, who definitely had a hand in this. Ken Rosenthal believes the Bradley acquisition takes the Padres off the market for big-name sluggers like Adam Dunn and Jermaine Dye. 2007-06-29 19:05:00 The Padres have acquired disaffected outfielder Milton Bradley from the Oakland A's in exchange for a low level pitching prospect - if the reports of the alledged deal are to be believed. This deal, along with RF Brian Giles' activation from the DL, basically clears-up the rag-tag outfield situation that had centerfielder Mike Cameron flanked by various combinations of Jose Cruz Jr, Terrmel Sledge, Russell Branyan and Hiram Boccachica for the past month or so. As long as Bradley remains healthy, the Padres are an improved team. With a team AVG .244, however, the bar is not very high. If he could hit just .270, he will have the third highest AVG amongst the starting eight right behind 1B Adrian Gonzalez' .282 and Brian Giles' .276. This is bad enough, but the Padres do not have any players with OBPs much better. Part-time OF/3B Russell Branyan has the highest OBP of .359 which is followed closely by Gonzalez' .352 and Giles' .349. Milton Brad...
