Milton Bradley Accused of Hitting Wife With Glass Table Top
2011-03-04 18:38:00 Ex-Cubs outfielder Milton Bradley could be in some big trouble. This time, RadarOnline reports that Bradley has been accused of hitting his wife with the top of a glass coffee table, according to court documents they obtained. His wife, Monique, is now seeking a divorce and requested a restraining order on January 24. The Bradley's already have a March 9th hearing related to making threats against his wife in January. Here's what Monique Bradley said about the incident: "Milton cursed and yelled at me for approximately five minutes and then he grabbed a glass from off the coffee table and threw it directly at my head from across the room. The glass shattered on my head and I started to bleed....

2010-10-11 17:31:00 Donovan Receives Milton Friedman Fiscal Conservative Award from State of Georgia Tea Party Suwanee (October 11, 2010) – U.S. Senate hopeful Chuck Donovan, L-GA., is being honored as a fiscal conservative by the State of Georgia Tea Party, LLC for his strong stand on cutting the growth of government and out of control spending. The award is given to members and prospective members of State and Federal office that commit themselves to lower taxes and reduce federal spending. “I am very proud to receive this honor from the State of Georgia Tea Party, LLC, because I fully support a limited government - the inspiration of our Founding Fathers. The citizens of Georgia and small businesses are being strangled by excessive government taxation, regulation, and spending.” Donovan said. “ I recognize that the way the government is operating is not only unsustainable, it is a recipe for disaster and failure.” Donovan said. Donovan received an “A++” rating for h...
Open Letter To Milton Bradley
2010-05-20 23:05:00 Dear Milton, Now that Cub Nation and the rest of the world has had time to really let your all too long stay in Chicago sink in. Every good sound argument is made when time is given to reflect upon the happenings in question. Before we dig into some of your more current bone headed moves, lets take a look back:Acquired by the Indians in 2000 you only lasted one year there, a theme that would be consistent through your career. The year after you were traded to the Indians and got into an argument with then Indians manager Eric Wedge then shipped to the Dodgers, there, you got into an altercation with a fan in right field and took...
Milton Bradley Up To His Antics Again
2010-05-05 20:08:00 A report out of Seattle is that former Cubs failure, I mean outfielder, Milton Bradley is up to the same garbage again. After striking out in the sixth inning last night - his second strikeout of the night - Bradley mouthed off at the umpire. Seattle media reports that Bradley continued to yell at the ump despite Mariners' manager Don Wakamatsu telling him to shut up. Bradley reportedly told Wakamatsu where to put it, and left the stadium in the middle of the game. Color me shocked. Bradley claimed when he left Chicago that he's never had a problem anywhere. And yet here he is, getting yet another "fresh start" in baseball, making his manager's life miserable. Perhaps this...

2010-03-23 03:49:00 I was wondering last night what the DePaul head coaching job was akin to in the entertainment industry. Then it hit me. DePaul is the Kristie Alley of college basketball jobs. Once they were really hot (1978-1989). Then, they had some serious weight problems (1992-1998). Then, it was followed with some ups and downs (1999-2007). Now? Total rock bottom (2008-2010).
Colleen Dominguez Feeds the Milton Bradley Monster
2010-03-11 01:51:00 By this point you have all heard the idiotic words of Milton Bradley as told to ESPN's Collen Dominguez this afternoon. I will get to how cowardly Bradley's comments are in a moment, but what I find to be an even greater injustice is how Dominguez fished for particular answers during the interview. Isn't here position at ESPN a reporter? Does this not mean that she should enter an interview with the goal of getting certain information across for both sides? Here are a selection of the questions Dominguez asked:Other African American players such as LaTroy Hawkins received hate mail while playing in Chicago, do you think Chicago is a hard place for African Americans to play? Do you think the hate mail...

Godspeed, Milton Bradley, we'll miss you!
2009-12-19 06:57:00 The Bald TruthNow that Milton Bradley - a.k.a. I bear the responsibility." - Jim HendryAw, come on, Jim. Sort of. It's not much of a miracle when we pick up a crappy pitcher with his own huge contract. But the good news is, Milton Bradley is gone. Now we've got SilvaOne of baseball's worst pitchersWho's owed lots of dough Carlos Silva stinks it up at the World Baseball Classic - this picture was taken after he gave up 5 runs in the first inning pitching for Venezuela against Korea. ...
Milton Bradley Traded!! Yes!! For Carlos Silva? Eh?
2009-12-18 20:22:00 The Cubs have traded troubled outfielder Milton Bradley to Seattle for pitcher Carlos Silva and some cash. Here's the terms according to Jon Heyman of SI.Com The Mariners and Cubs reached agreement on a deal that would send outfielder Milton Bradley to Seattle in exchange for pitcher Carlos Silva and $6 million, SI.com has learned. The money, which will be paid out over two years, is to offset the difference in salaries (Bradley is owed $21 million over the next two years and Silva is due $25 million over the same period) and to make up for Silva's poor performance. The correct reaction for this trade should not be: "Thank God Milton is gone!" The correct reaction for this...
It's 6:39 am. . . Milton Bradley is still a Cub
2009-12-12 13:39:00 What's that? You're sick of hearing about Milton Bradley? Well so am I, but it's the lot we've been cast in life. Read and discuss. I have to go say something stupid on the radio. Paul Sullivan: The Rays, their most likely trading partner, refuse to budge, hoping to force the Cubs to pay the bulk of Bradley's $13 million salary in 2010.And when the Rays acquired closer Rafael Soriano and his $7.25 million salary Friday from the Braves, executive vice president Andrew Friedman suggested they were done spending."Our focus is on continuing to try to make this 2010 team better," he told the St. Petersburg Times. "It's going to take a little bit more creativity, but our...
Cubs Suspend Milton Bradley
2009-09-23 15:53:00 WEDNESDAY, 1:53pm: Paul Sullivan notes that the Cubs have yet to file paperwork regarding Bradley's suspension and the MLB Players Association can't file a grievance until they do. At this point, it's basically an agreement between the club and Bradley that he won't return this season.SUNDAY: According to Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune, the Cubs have suspended disgruntled outfielder Milton Bradley for the rest of the season.Bradley, who signed a three-year, $30MM contract last winter, took shots at the Cubs organization during an interview with the Arlington Heights Daily Herald on Saturday, and has battled with fans on the North Side of Chicago for much of the season. GM Jim Hendry is expected to seek out a trade partner for the 31-year-old right fielder this offseason. "The last few days became too much for me to tolerate," Hendry said Sunday, fed up with the player's attitude toward the fans and media in Chicago. "I'm certainly not going to let our great fans become e...

Thoughts on Milton Bradley rumors...
2009-09-21 20:24:00 I was once a huge advocate of the Mets acquiring Milton Bradley, I was willing to accept the 50lbs. of baggage he brought with him for the talent he would provide.Since 2003 he has hit .267 or better every year and four of those years he hit over .300 with a lifetime Slg. pct. .450 and OBP .371. In 2008 he was selected to the All-Star team and received League MVP votes (17). He is an injury risk but nothing significant over the past five seasons he averaged 132 gms. per season with his high point being 141 in 2004 and low 75 gms in 2005. In 2007 Bradley was signed by the A's, during the season he was injured and the team asked him to slow his rehab to get a look at a youngster, when he refused he was DFA. The Royals ended up picking him up but it was rumored that the Mets loosely kept an eye on his situation. Now I admit when I'm wrong, as I said before I was a big advocate of the Mets acquiring Bradley and not just in 2007 but again in 2008. One of the most convincing aspects tha...

More On Milton Bradley
2009-09-21 08:02:00 After the Cubs suspended Milton Bradley for the remainder of the season several members of the 2009 Chicago Cubs spoke out about how Milton never really fit in with the ball club. Ryan Dempster, who is one of the leaders in the clubhouse had some very interesting things to say when he was questioned about Bradley's suspension. "At the end of the day, he was provided a great opportunity to be part of a really great organization with a lot of really good guys," Dempster said. "It just didn't seem to make him happy -- anything. Hopefully this is a little bit of a wake-up call for him, and he'll realize how good of a gig you have."It probably became...

Milton Bradley Suspended
2009-09-20 23:52:00 The Chicago Cubs have suspended outfielder Milton Bradley for the remainder of the season probably ending his disappointing stay on the north side of Chicago. Bradley has been a moody and problematic presence in the Cubs clubhouse all season long but not until he unloaded his feelings in an interview with the Daily Herald yesterday did the Cubs finally take action.Milton Bradley and Jim Hendry in happier times when he signed with the Cubs. Hendry suspended the outfielder for the remainder of the season today. It is obvious that Bradley won't be returning to the Cubs next season but by suspending him the Cubs have essentially made it even more difficult to deal him this off season. This action should not...

Can it Be? Are the Tigers After Milton Bradley?
2009-07-25 19:44:00 Two very solid baseball sources confirmed for me just moments ago that the Detroit Tigers are interested in Cubs RF Milton Bradley. They believe that Bradley would be a much better fit as a DH than as a right fielder and that he would mesh well with Tigers manager Jim Leyland. Both sources say that the Tigers have scouted Bradley and are interested depending on how much of his contract the Cubs are willing to eat. Here is the remaining money left on Bradley's deal which depending on certain clauses has two more years left on it.Milton Bradley has had a very frustrating season so far in a Cubs uniform. Could he be wearing a Tigers jersey soon?I believe that Bradley...
Get to Know Your Cubs: Milton Bradley
2009-05-25 20:00:00 Name: Milton Obelle Bradley, Jr. Date of Birth: April 15, 1978 Hometown: Harbor City, CA Position: Right Field Hotness Factor: 6.3 Disclaimer: There's been a lot of discussion on the personal merits of Milton Bradley around here this season. There are personal situations that he's gone through in the past that we're all aware of. However, GTKYC is only going to present those issues that have relevance to the game of baseball. As to the other stuff, we believe that you can make up your own mind about it. While we have our own opinions, they do not belong here. For the purposes of this diary, we are Switzerland. Milton Bradley was born in California in 1978 and is named after his father, Milton Bradley, Sr., who filled out the birth certificate form without his wife's permission. As Milton's mother says of his father, "He wanted a Junior, and made damn sure he got one." Junior, who shares a name with a popular board game pioneer, has always been tea...

Milton Banana - O Ritmo e o Som da Bossa Nova (1963)
2009-03-29 07:14:00 Hello, good evening! I had a day with some surprises, good and bad surprises. Evaluating these ups and downs, I think the balance was not very good, and the best thing to do on these days is to sleep early and wake up on a better shape. However, I'm very happy with the sequel of albums made available at Loronix. Take a look at the last five or eight posts and you should agree with me. We had excellent albums and most of them never had a chance of being reissued on CD.I believe I made the right choice postponing my sleep time for a few hours. I'm feeling much better right now, especially remembering this album, which is one of the first made available at Loronix and a very important Brazilian instrumental music album featuring Milton Banana, the creator of Bossa Nova drumming style, backed by another legend of the movement, Oscar Castro Neves and Conjunto. This is a required update that you cannot miss. Let's see. This is Milton Banana e Conjunto de Oscar Castro Neves - O Ritmo e O...

On Blake and the Bible (and Milton)
2008-12-10 22:31:00 A post by Kim Fabricius (This was Kim’s “vote of thanks” after Christopher Rowland’s lecture yesterday for the Theological Society in Swansea. Rowland spoke on “William Blake and the Bible” – if you’re interested, you can download the lecture as a PowerPoint presentation from the Oxford website.)William Blake was my first true literary love. (Before Blake I’d merely slept around.) We met when I majored in English. I still have my copy of Northrop Frye’s magnificent study of Blake, Fearful Symmetry. And after I’d graduated and hit the road to Europe and Asia in 1971, along with Shakespeare the only other book I carried in my rucksack was a one-volume collection of the works of Blake and John Donne. (And if that seems an unlikely pairing, you obviously don’t see the connection between the two most interesting things in life: God – and sex!)And then, homeless and broke in London a few years later, crashing and sponging at a friend’s flat in Pimlico, I used t...
Celebrating Milton's birthday: on Milton and politics
2008-12-09 22:40:00 Four hundred years ago today, England’s great poet was born: John Milton. I celebrated privately this morning by solemnly reciting the opening 50 or 60 lines of Paradise Lost. So why don’t you pause for a moment to read it as well. To read this poem is to participate in a miracle.By way of celebration, the New Zealand journal, The Turnbull Library Record has devoted a special issue to Milton, including the public lecture which I presented in Wellington earlier this year: “Milton and the Theology of Secular Politics,” The Turnbull Library Record 41 (2008), 3-15. The article discusses Milton’s political thought in the context of contemporary political theory (with special reference to Rowan Williams’ lecture on sharia law). Here’s an excerpt:“If Milton’s work discloses contradictions inherent in rights-based political doctrines, it would be a complete misunderstanding to imagine that we could somehow “fix” these contradictions simply by being still more tolerant ...
Happy 400th Birthday, John Milton!
2008-12-09 09:57:00 It is not miserable to be blind; it is miserable to be incapable of enduring blindness.-John MiltonWe read not that Christ ever exercised force but once; and that was to drive profane ones out of his Temple, not to force them in. - John Milton (1608-1674)Tomorrow to fresh woods, and pastures new. - John MiltonAntichrist is Mammon's son. - JOHN MILTONHe that can apprehend and consider vice with all her baits and seeming pleasures, and yet abstain and yet distinguish, and yet prefer that which is truly better, he is the true wayfaring Christian. I cannot praise a fugitive and cloistered virtue, unexercised and unbreathed, that never sallies out and sees her adversary, but slinks out of the race, where that immortal garland is to be run for, not without dust and heat. Assuredly we bring not innocence into the world, we bring impurity much rather; that which purifies us is trial, and trial is by what is contrary. - Milton , AreopagiticaCromwell, -, who through a cloud,Not of war only, ...

Milton Bradley, Another Ranger Worth Knowing
2008-06-06 16:12:00 Milton Bradley is certainly on par for a career season. On Thursday, the talented outfielder slammed his 13th homeruns of the season, while adding 3 hits, 2 runs, 2 RBI, and his second steal of the season. Boasting a .337 average, Bradley is 16 points above teammate Josh Hamilton. Though he has never hit 20 homeruns in his career, there are few questions to the outstanding talent that Bradley possesses....

Free Agent Stock Watch: Milton Bradley
2008-05-12 23:51:00 In December, Milton Bradley signed a one-year deal with the Rangers for $5.25MM guaranteed. He can earn up to $2.75MM more based on playing time incentives. The Padres didn't offer him arbitration; they were afraid of a possible award nearing $10MM. Bradley was available at an affordable price and term mainly because of his injury history - he hasn't played 100 games in a season since 2004. His '07 season ended with an ACL tear in a bizarre incident (his manager tackled him to keep him away from an umpire who had provoked him). That Bradley was ready for Opening Day was remarkable. Since Bradley was traded to the Padres on June 29th of last year, he's been an elite hitter: a .981 OPS in 263 at-bats. In that period his OBP ranks 7th in the game (.419) and his SLG ranks 15th (.563). Bradley could be called the Rich Harden of hitters - oft-injured, but elite when he plays. Bradley might be a hot trade commodity this July. He wo...

Milton Market Activity
2008-04-04 15:36:00 Message In listening to all of the doom and gloom about the real estate market in the GTA on the radio today, where reports are that the market activity in the GTA is down 22% over 1st Quarter 2007, I decided to see how the Milton market fared Q1 2008 over Q1 2007. What I saw from the numbers was that our market numbers are also down significantly, with unit sales in 2008 being 289, compared to 352 units in 2007. However, the average sale price is up from $318,868 in 2007 to $342,404 in 2008. The time to sell remains almost identical going down from 30 days in 2007 to 28 days in 2008. Where did this increase in the average sale price come from? It can be attributed to a general rising of prices overall (7% across the market), which is more noticable in some house types than others. The prime example of this is in the older condo townhouses in Milton, which enjoyed an average price increase of 16.5% over this time period year-to-year. Being ...
