Biking to Malacañang from Mindanao
2008-04-29 05:24:00
He is the priest who biked his way to Malacañang from Mindanao if only to send a message through a letter to Gloria Arroyo: Father Amado Picardal. The “biking priest’s” sojourns hinted at preaching the “good news of life and peace in a land where the culture of death, violence, and corruption prevails.” Read more
Danger Zone: Mindanao Avenue corner Road 20
2008-04-24 02:18:00
I don't like posting about negative stuff in this blog, because it an opportunity to talk about and promote the wonderful things you'll find in Quezon City, but every time I pass by Mindanao Avenue corner Road 20, it really bothers me to see this:The street post has been broken and dangerously entangled with electric wires for a couple of weeks now. Doesn't anyone see it at all?! What's the barangay doing about it?! The MMDA? Everyone seems to be turning a blind eye to this horrible sight. Do they really think they can let it be and that we can live with it? Sooner or later, somebody's gonna get hurt because of it. It's a double threat! Do we really want to wait until that happens before we do something about it?!And while we're on the topic of Mindanao Avenue and Road 20, another concern needs to be brought up: a pedestrian overpass urgently needs to be constructed in that intersection. It's very dangerous to cross Mindanao Avenue from Road 20 to Pluto Street, especially d...

Mindanao Republic: Yes or No?
2008-01-24 13:17:00
Mindanao had long been neglected. The center of gravity of the Republic has always been Luzon ever since the Spanish regime. All activities from political, financial, educational and even industrial have been in the Greater Manila area. The rest of the islands had been neglected.

The Top 100 Mindanao Blogs
2007-12-31 02:53:00
Several bloggers in Manila have published their own versions of the top blogs in the Philippines. Most of them are using blog juice as a basis for ranking the blogs. While talking over coffee with Ate Ria (riajose.com) and Kuya Blogie (robilloblog.com), we came up with the idea of making a list for Mindanao bloggers. Since we have a reliable source of registered blogs in Mindanao, we thought of using it as reference in determining whose blogs are qualified for the list.Yesterday, I started working on the idea on how to rank the blogs.Use Blog Juice - the idea seems to be good since TLA has this application which can calculate the blog's blog juice. The bottom line, you have to input each blog url and set its category in order to get its blog juice.Use Ratified Rank - Ratified.org uses PR, Technorati and Feedburner data to rank the top 100 blogs in the Philippines. Ratified.org is updated everyday and keeps a fresh record of the blog's statistics. The catch, not all mindanao ...

Mindanao Bloggers Summit!: A Sakses!
2007-10-29 07:05:00
Hahahaha! Even If I'm not around during the first Mindanao Bloggers Summit, I still feel that I'm present during said event. From the live feeds in my mobile, to a live speaker through kuya Blogie! Hahaha! Why a live speaker? It's because he reads my messages aloud! :P It's like that I'm just with them during the party, all of my text messages are read to everyone who was nearby kuya blogie, and I also received replies from them during the summit. :P How I wish I could join the 2nd Mindanao Bloggers Summit! Hopefully, next year! Because there's a first summit, obviously, there would really be a second summit! :P I know the Usual Suspects are planning to have MBS2 right now. Nah.. It's just an intuition. But, I think.. I really really think that MBS2 will be a reality. Then, MBS3, followed by MBS4, and so on.. :PThanks to all who joined the summit, specially to my friends who won a domain and web hosting package from the summit! Congratulations to Isis Lahora, Mark Aethen Agan...

Inside the Mindanao Bloggers Summit (part 2)

The start of the program was signaled by a voice over welcoming everyone to the event. The Lupang Hinirang was played. The organizers opted not to have a prayer/invocation. Books For Less branch in Mindanao Avenue
2007-10-24 05:45:00
When it comes to shopping, there isn't much to see along Mindanao Avenue as most businesses there are composed of auto shops and banks. That's why the Books for Less branch along Mindanao Avenue stands out. It's nice to have a Books for Less branch in Mindanao Avenue because pre-owned bookstores usually have titles that mainstream bookstores like National (which has a branch along Congressional) don't have. You'll find it at the second level of the MedExpress building, where Padi's Point used to stand, near the Congressional-Mindanao intersection and right before KFC. There are a few parking spaces that they share with MedExpress. But whenever I pass by there, I don't see a lot of cars parked especially since the drugstore has a drive-thru sevices, which is so convenient.I've never been to a Books for Less store, but I do know that they sell pre-owned books, thanks to the big flashy signs in the Mindanao Branch. Once you go upstairs you'll see nothing but tarps on sale promo...
