Adult jokes-'Mississippi Blonde'
2008-06-06 09:02:00
Two bored casino dealers are waiting at the crap table. A very attractive blonde woman from Mississippi arrived and bet twenty thousand dollars ($20,000)on a single roll of the dice. She said, 'I hope you don't mind, but I feel much luckier when I play topless.'With that, she stripped to the waist; rolled the dice and yelled, 'Come on, Southern Girl needs new clothes!'As the dice bounced and came to a stop, she jumped up-and- down and squealed'YES! YES! I WON! I WON!'She hugged each of the dealers...and then picked up her winnings, and her clothes and quickly departed. The dealers stared at each other dumfounded. Finally, one of them asked,'What did she roll?'The other answered, 'I don't know... I thought you were watching.'Moral of the story:(1) Not all Southerners are stupid.(2) Not all blondes are dumb.(3) But all men... are men
Mississippi Toyota Plant Pushed Back To 2010
2008-06-01 11:39:00
This is a recent photo of the new Toyota Plant in Blue Springs Mississippi. Rumors are that the plant opening has been pushed back to 2010 because top executives see a slow down in US Auto Sales.Car Sales in the US have changed in dynamics due to rising gas prices. Many factories are switching line workers from truck assembly plants to car assembly to meet increased demand in fuel effecient vehicles. The only way to lower fuel prices is to lower our consumption of oil. Many are urging drivers to car pool when possible, make one trip to post office-grocery store-etc., trade that gas guzzler if possible. Many are trying to trade their deisel's, big trucks, SUV's, and gas guzzling vehicles. But, are finding that nobody wants these vehicles right now and that has driven the price very low. The demand is down and so are the trade in values. You may find you owe way more than a dealer is willing to give you for the vehicle. In this case you have to figure is it worth trading or are you sp...

Reason.tv: Mississippi Drug War Blues - The Case of Cory Maye
2008-05-08 15:25:00
At 11p.m on December 26, 2001 police in Prentiss, Mississippi raided the residence of Cory Maye, a 21-year-old father who was at home with his 18-month-old daughter Ta’Corriana. The cops were looking for drugs and smashed through the back door. In the ensuing chaos, Maye hunkered down with his daughter in a bedroom and when the police broke down that door, he fired three bullets, one of which killed Officer Ron Jones. Maye testified in court that the police did not identify themselves until after they had entered his residence; indeed, he testified that they did not identify themselves until after he had fired his shots. Once they did, he said he put his weapon on the floor, slid it toward police, and surrendered. The police, who refused to talk with reason.tv, tell a different story. They claim that they identified themselves multiple times before entering Maye’s house and bedroom, and that there was no way Maye couldn’t have known who they were. A jury rejected M...

I am Pat Meyer with Coldwell Banker Alfonso Realty, Inc. Gulfport, MS. The coast is recovering from Katrina and I have seen the real estate market pick up in the last two weeks. We have many condo units being built along with casinos and other business. This is a great time to buy on the MS Gulf Coast as some people have made the decision not to come back. I lost everything in Katrina (I did have good insurance that did pay) and I love the MS Gulf Coast. Would not consider moving anywhere else.

Good news for Obama, now that the Mississippi secretary of state has certified the results of their primary. The final tally is: Obama - 265,502 Clinton - 159,221 That gives Obama a heads-up 62.512% victory, which WILL switch another state-wide at-large delegate to him (there are 4 statewide pledged PLEO’s in Mississippi, so 62.5% is the tipping point ...

Pelicans ?Just Visiting? Along the Mississippi Flyway

Pelicans were part of my lyric life in Northern California as Daniel and I paddled round the small peninsula on Clear Lake in our kayaks and there, they are! One Year in Mississippi
2008-03-28 16:54:00
Today is our one year anniversary of moving here to Mississippi. One year without getting on a single airplane, lovely. Our trip here from Misawa was a nightmare. We lived in a very small town in northern Japan and were traveling with a dog, a cat, a three year old, a 16 year old, and one ton of luggage. Here is what I blogged last year about our journey...Old black water, keep on rollingMississippi Moon wont ya Keep on shinning on me?We were listening to the radio and the song, began to play on the radio just as we were driving past the sign WELCOME TO MISSISSIPPI. We all sang along. We hadn?t planned on driving into Mississippi, but we missed our connection in Atlanta. We were put on stand by to get onto the next flight into Gulf Port, Mississippi but we did not make it on the plane. Our pets and luggage however did make it on the plane without us. They put us on standby for the next flight leaving four hours later. We had already been traveling at this point for 26 hours. Not...

A Date
2008-03-25 16:20:00
Jeff and I recently went on a date to celebrate the end of our diet and he wanted to thank me for all my hard work helping him to lose 10 lbs in two weeks. He got his waist down to 32 1/2, and all told he scored an excellent on his fitness test.I got to pick the restaurant and I picked a little hole in the wall in the downtown area. I had my very first Po'Boy sandwich, fried catfish no less. It was very good and reasonably priced. We then took a little walk down to the beach through the downtown. It is so much more fun to walk than to drive, we saw so many more details. We got ate alive by the gnats too. I never knew gnats bit until I moved here, they are the scourge of the earth. Lily and I spend a great deal of time outside and we both have a great deal of bites to prove it.After our walk we went to a smoothie place. Jeff and I make our own smoothies all the time but I have never had a commercially prepared smoothie. I think the smoothie craze must have started while we...

B.B. King is the new owner of a juke joint in his Mississippi Delta hometown. Mary Shepard has owned Club Ebony in Indianola for the past three decades. King and other artists have played there throughout the years. A Mississippi Delta Blues Trail Marker outside Club Ebony says Count Basie, Ray Charles, James Brown, Ike Turner are among the musicians who have played there since 1945. Shepard says she sold the club to the bluesman because she wants to relax and spend time with her family. Indianola is about halfway between Jackson and Memphis.SOURCE
Mississippi river and basement waterproofing
2008-03-23 18:12:00
Our homes are our castles.  We like them warm in the winter and cool in the summer. I have noticed all the flooding along the Mississippi river from rain and snow melting. The one thing we do not like in our homes is water. Thank goodness I do not live near the Mississippi river. If we find water seepage and/or drainage problems, those have to be fixed right away to prevent damage the foundation of your home.Basement foundation repair and waterproofing refers to techniques used to prevent water from entering your home's basement or a commercial building. Ground waterproofing will include both drainage and sealers.  Waterproofing is needed anytime a home structure is built at ground level or below ground level. Waterproofing and drainage considerations are especially needed in cases where ground water is likely to build up in the soil and raise the water table. Pressure from large amounts of water in the ground can cause major structural damage to your home's foundation w...
Natchez, Mississippi
2008-03-22 15:53:00
We finally took our trip to see the mansions in Natchez which were built before the civil war. My understanding is that most of the southern mansions built before the civil war were destroyed during the war and seeing older homes is rare and special. I enjoyed spending the day with my family and the opportunity to see Natchez was lovely, but I don't think I would make the trip again. There are many houses open, and available for touring. We saw three, it cost us about $75. I thought that was a little pricey. The first one was in poor repair, I am thinking if you are charging me to see your home a fresh coat of paint is not too much to ask. The second house was in perfect condition but run by very stern tour guides who insisted that you listen to hours of commentary and only look at the rooms in the order you are told and after listening to a detailed description of every single piece of furniture, what wood it is made of, who made it, etc. It got old. Jeff and Lily about los...

Mississippi bubble
2008-03-20 18:20:00

Barack Obama Cruises To Mississippi Primary Win In Racially Polarized Elect

Barack Obama easily beat Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary in Mississippi, in a racially polarized contest.
Obama wins Mississippi
2008-03-12 14:13:00
Obama continued his dominance in the southern states with a 61%-37% win over Hillary Clinton. With 99% reporting he added almost 100,000 votes to his popular vote lead and appears to have won 19 of the 33 delegates (which would net him 5 on Clinton). Those trying to figure out a way that Hillary can somehow declare a popular vote victory were not likely considering the possibility that she would lose a state like Mississippi by 100K. To put it in perspective, the vote from yesterdays state nearly wipes out her popular vote victory from the much larger state of Texas. This should show you that it isn't just about winning states, but also about winning states big. Obama has been able to win several states by wide margins, while Clinton has struggled to find big wins. I doubt we will hear much more talk about the Hillary Clinton momentum leading into Pennsylvania. Of course, it's another six weeks before anyone actually heads into a voting booth to vote in Pennsylvania. Lots can h...

Did Sen. Barack Obama Win Mississippi Because of Race?
2008-03-12 06:57:00
From my trusty and informative listserv: The MSM keeps pointing out that the Democratic party in MS divided along racial lines when voting yesterday.  Obama was already expected to win the state because of the state's racial make-up.  However, there are a few key points that need to be brought up:   1)  It has been reported that black voters makes up 50% of the democratic voting block in MS. 2)  Obama won 61% of the vote   Had Obama only won the state 50-55%, it would be fair to say that Obama won the state because of the demographics, but Obama won the state by more than 60%.  This speaks to the message of Hope and Change that Obama is spreading across the country.  People of all races and ethnicities are voting for Barack Obama because of what he stands for and what he will enable us to do for our country.
