From Autoblog: If you happen to call the East Coast home, there's a good chance you recently woke up to plenty of winter weather. Given that we're facing down a few long months of snow and ice ahead, we thought we'd take the time to explore one of the more interesting innovations in snow
Missouri AFP Fall Conference
2011-11-12 12:48:00
Thanks to the Missouri Academy of Family Physicians for the invitation to speak at the 19th Annual Fall Conference at Big Cedar Resort in Ridgedale, Missouri. I've been asked to do two sessions: Why Family Medicine Needs Social Media and Practical Steps In Social Media & Family Medicine. The slide sets are below and I hope to put up the video here when I'm able to edit it. This is my last speaking opportunity for 2011. If you told me at the beginning fo this year that I was going to be in 4-5 different states talking about social media, I would have told you that you're nuts. If you told me that I would be presenting at a national meeting about social media, I would have laughed out loud. It has been quite a ride this year. I hope to write a more comprehensive post later. This has such been a good time, and I hope that this experience continues in 2012!   Why Family Medicine Needs Social Media View more presentations from Mike Sevilla       Family Medici...
Iowa Floods, Joplin Missouri and Southeast Destruction Begs For Answers
2011-06-13 11:35:00
Iowa Floods, Joplin Missouri and Southeast Destruction Begs For Answers I received an email from an old friend that has awakened my senses and made me think. However, I have decided not to offer an opinion at his time, rather I will solicit your views on the recent disasters which have left thousands homeless, hundreds dead and an enormous task ahead for those affected. I will say this, though, there are some very valid questions contained in internet email and should illustrate some of the thinking that exists within our society today. Is it right or is it wrong?

Missouri Grade School: Singing 'Happy Birthday' Song is 'Ins
2010-08-26 15:00:00
-By Warner Todd Huston Fox News Radio's Todd Sterns reported that a Missouri elementary school tried to ban the singing of "Happy Birthday To You" in order to be "sensitive" about those students that might find singing in public to be "offensive." In a letter sent home to parents, school Principal Jodi Davidson (pictured) explained that the ban on the venerable song was because, "singing is not permitted due to the sensitivity of all student beliefs." As soon as outraged parents began to complain, our supersensitive principal reversed course and on August 23 sent a letter rescinding the ban. Catch this lie being told by Principal Davidson to cover for her original politically correct decision:...

Missouri Moves to Make Secret Ballot Required by Law
2009-01-03 19:22:00
-By Warner Todd Huston The misnamed Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) will take away the secret ballot for potential union members and force them to openly declare their preferences for or against a union, causing that worker to be easily open to intimidation by union thugs. This is a law currently in the table in Congress, ...

Signs Point to an Obama Blowout
2008-10-07 05:50:00
Note: This post contains recent polls and analysis for New Hampshire, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Ohio, Colorado, Colorado and Missouri. This election is starting to look like a serious blowout. Some pretty incredible polls have been rolling in lately.First we had three straight polls out New Hampshire giving Obama a double digit lead, the most recent one giving him a 13 point lead in New Hampshire, the previous ones at 10 and 12 point leads. This state has been tied forever. Those poll results are just incredible.Next we have three polls, all released today, from Virginia. One gives Obama a 10 point lead and another gives him a 12 point lead and Rasmussen gives Obama an 2 point lead. That almost impossible to believe, but apparently it's true. It's inconceivable that a Black Democrat could be 8 points ahead in Virginia. There are some dramatic differences between rural and urban voters in the state - the rural areas are much more Republican. However, a huge number o...
October 3 Election Analysis
2008-10-04 01:49:00
Updated October 4:Obama is really starting to pull away now. McPalin better do something and fast. They've got nothing to lose at this point, and I expect the full bore of 527's with Revered Wright, William Ayers and anything else they can dredge up. I figure things are going to get awful dirty real fast. To be honest, it's probably McCain's only hope at this point.Pennsylvania looks like it is pulling away for Obama now. Biden is a big hit here. It's a funny state. There's Democratic Philly and Pittsburgh and Pennsyltucky, Pennsylsippi and Pennsylbama in between. A bunch of rural, racist Whites, often Democrats, who love to hunt and ain't voting for no nigger.Still, recent polls are giving Obama up to a 12 point lead. The state has a 1 million Democratic registration advantage so it's really a trap for McCain. The plot was that as long as it was close enough, McCain would be forced to spend a lot of time and money in Pennsylvania, and he'd probably end up losing.McCain's ...

Rock Port, Missouri - First City in the U.S. to be 100% wind powered!
2008-05-22 21:48:00
Rock Port, a small town in Missouri, has become the first city in the U.S. to be 100% wind powered. Supposedly, their electric bills will freeze for the next 20 years. Rock Port, MO 2/6/08. Rock Port Missouri is the first 100% wind powered community in the United States. To celebrate this tremendous achievement, a Green Switch Celebration will be held on Friday, April 18, 2008. Rock Port’s 100% wind power status is due to four wind turbines located on agricultural lands within the city limits of Rock Port. The city of Rock Port uses approximately 13 million kilowatt hours of electricity each year. It is predicted that these four turbines will produce 16 million kilowatt hours each year. Excess wind generated electricity not used by Rock Port homes and businesses will move onto the transmission lines to be purchased by the Missouri Joint Municipal Utilities for use in other areas. This makes Rock Port, Missouri the first community in America capable of meeting its entire annual ele...
