Onmobile introduces audio ads on mobile platform: IS it too intrusive?
2008-07-10 02:58:00 Mobile VAS company OnMobile launched an audio advertising platform for mobile operators. Filipino mobile platform, anyone?
2008-05-12 15:55:00 I agree with one of my favorite tech news sources (TechCrunch.com) that the next technology war will be fought in the realm of mobile platforms. In the dawn of OS-agnostic and Web-deployed applications, the old operating-systems war seems to be finally fizzling out. (A rather anticlimactic denouement, if you ask me.) Microsoft and Apple have ...

kwiry Viral Mobile Platform to Drive Offline Audiences Online
2007-12-15 20:33:00 Here's an interesting service from kwiry: the company announced the launch of kwiry.com, a viral platform for advertisers, TV/radio networks and others to use text messages to drive traffic from mobile phones to their websites. Once you respond to a partner's ad, kwiry can reach you when you are back online. The platform essentially turns each text message into a potential page view from the kwiry user community. For example, GamePro Magazine uses kwiry to drive its print readers to GamePro.com. Companies can also avoid the use of confusing URLs to drive people to specific content on their website. Other useful services offered by kwiry include the kwiry reminder service where your text messages are converted into reminders that can be retrieved online. Viral marketing. Oh, well.

Avaya Expands Mobile Platform Coverage
2007-11-19 11:15:00 Client software available for more devices and coming soon for the iPhone.Robert Poe on November 15, 2007Whether under the banner of unified communications or FMC (Fixed- Mobile Convergence), the big thing in enterprise telephony these days is making the cell phone an extension of the in-house PBX. Doing so lets users make, receive and transfer calls on their wireless handsets just like they would from their desk phones, as well as access all kinds of wonderful PBX features no matter where they are. The goal is nothing less than to erase the line between office and mobile phones, and vendors are racing to do it first or best.Avaya Inc. made its latest move on November 12, 2007, becoming the first major manufacturer to extend enterprise telephony to the iPhone. Actually, the company hasn?t done so yet, but it promised it will by early 2008. However, Avaya did extend enterprise telephony functionality to a bunch of other handsets, effective immediately. The requisite client software i...
Mobile platform pitches at UTR: getting media to your pocket
2007-11-16 01:48:00 Wrapping up today's pitch sessions at the Under the Radar Mobility conference are four companies focusing on the platform, also known as "how to get things on your phone." It's one of the deepest levels of the mobile space, and also one of the most nebulous and hard to explain. mPortico (whose name is not to be confused with a pizza place near CNET's San Francisco headquarters) creates the technology for branded memory cards people can stick in their mobile phone that has embedded games, applications, and video content. These cards end up on retail store shelves that anyone can buy and plug in without having to deal with navigating to Web sites or download huge files while on the go. To help save the content from being shared openly, the company has employed a proprietary DRM system. To get cards to the shelves, mPortico has partnered with Kingston, Universal, and I-Play mobile gaming. Kingston actually makes the memory cards, while mPortico takes care of the rest. The judge...

One more reason - The trends ahead & Google's Open Source Mobile Platform
2007-11-06 14:30:00 One more reason my belief the two big emerging technologies Greenbush can leverage most to our advantage are mobile media and virtual environments: Google's Open Source Mobile Platform Via http://wwwslashdot.org As expected, today Google took the wraps off of the gPhone (as the media have for months been referring to the rumored project). Google is "leading a broad industry alliance to transform mobile phones into powerful mobile computers," and will be licensing its software to all comers on an open source basis under the Apache license. (The Wall Street Journal's Ben Worthen demonstrates a miserable grasp of what "open source" means.) Via: http://www.news.com It should come as little surprise that Martin would support the alliance. Earlier this year, he made open devices a requirement in the rules for the upcoming 700MHz spectrum auction, which are expected to get under way in January 2008. Essentially, the rules will require winners of the spec...
