Mock Sarah Palin At Your Own Peril
2008-08-31 08:31:00
My fellow liberals may just mock Sarah Palin right into the White House, the gut reaction most liberal and moderate pundits expressed toward the Governor of Alaska, was the very emotion she used to get herself elected in the first place, John McCain’s gamble may just be hoping the Obama campaign will focus on her personality ...

2008 NBA Mock Draft
2008-05-26 23:29:00
1. Chicago Bulls - Derrick Rose (PG - Memphis)Really I think that Beasley is the best fit for the Bulls since then need a low-post scorer. However, Rose is simply the best player in the draft and the Bulls will take the best available. Plus he's a Chicago-native so he'll draw in a crowd.2. Miami Heat - Michael Beasley (PF - Kansas State)Wow, what a catch at #2! Who won't pack the house to see the high-flying trio of Marion, Beasley, and Wade! Beasley will no doubt bring the Heat back to the post-season in the East. However, don?t sleep on the possibility of Riles dealing the pick down for a couple of quality players.3. Minnesota Timberwolves - O.J. Mayo (PG - USC)Although some skeptics have him dropping as of late, we are still high on O.J. This cat has amazing size and athletic abilities for a point guard. He?s NBA ready. Although the Twolves currently have quite a few PGs he is more of a scoring PG and would suit big Al Jefferson's skill set perfectly!4. Seatle Supersonics - J...
NBA Mock Draft 1.0
2008-05-24 21:42:00
O.J. Mayo should stay in LA and play for the Clippers. This past week, the order for the NBA Draft was set during the draft lottery, where the Chicago Bulls received the number one overall pick. Although the playoffs are still going on, I though it would be fun to write the first mock draft. I
Optimus Popularis keyboard mock-up
2008-05-21 06:01:00
The folks at Art Lebedev are busy little elves. They are working on a new keyboard that carries the Optimus name, but this time it will be smaller as evidenced by the above pic. It’s going by the codename Popularis. There will be no OLED keys on this one, since it will be used on an entirely different principle although they did not mention what that might be. What we do know is that there will be 11 additional keys above the F-keys, and it will cost below $1,000. [Ubergizmo]
2008 NBA Mock Drafts
2008-05-19 22:43:00
On June 26th 2008, all those NBA teams who didn't get themselves into the playoffs are officially lottery-bound. Their hopes for successful team building and playoff opportunities rest on the way the ping pong balls bounce. One team will get the honor of pick #1, which could become a franchise player. Several websites offer NBA Mock Draft speculation. The Miami Heat, Seattle (or Oklahoma City) Sonics, and Minnesota Timberwolves are amongst one of the teams vying for the top pick, as they suffered a disappointing 2007-08 season.NBA Mock Draft 1) Chicago Bulls: Michael Beasley (PF 6-9 235 Kansas State)2) Miami Heat: Derrick Rose (PG 6-4 195 Memphis)3) Minnesota Timberwolves: Jerryd Bayless (PG 6-3 190 Arizona)4) Seattle Supersonics: Brook Lopez (C 7-0 245 Stanford)5) Memphis Grizzlies: O.J. Tomorrow and Sunday are two of my five favorite days of the year. I am like a kid at Christmas right now, waiting for the morning to come. The coffee is ready to brew, the cereal in the bowl (no milk yet) and the bag of chips at arms reach. It is also a great time for speculation, trades and

2008-04-25 18:27:00
Okay, so I'm playing it up a little. Well, a lot of a little. Anyway, it's high time I threw my hat in the proverbial mock draft ring. I've been meaning to do this mock for a while... but more imprtant things always seemed to come up. Like drinking. And sleeping. And, well, everything that came up. Mostly, a whole lotta nothing. Anyway, without further ado... I bring you the 2008 Hogs Haven Mock Draft. I should get a sponser... it always makes names seem more official. Anyways, the normal rules apply. I'm assuming no trades, though I fully expect a trade or seven on Saturday. 1. Miami - OT Jake Long, MICH - Everyone deserves a freebee in this thing. 2. St. Louis - DE Chris Long, UVA - Alongside last year's first rounder Adam Carriker and St. Louis has a defensive line that just won't quit. 3. Atlanta - DT Glenn Dorsey, LSU - Matt Ryan would make sense... but they need so much help everywhere. Best player theory says Dorsey. 4. Oakland - RB Darren McFadden, ARK - Al ...
Jared Sarney's 2008 NFL Mock Draft
2008-04-25 17:23:00
With the 2008 NFL Draft now under 24-hours away, Jared Sarney makes his debut on Greener on the Other Side. Yea...we know football too. Keep an eye out. Let's see if Jared will be in Kiper and McShay's company come tomorrow evening.1. Miami Dolphins Jake Long, OT, Michigan 2007-2008 Record: 1-15 | Draft Needs: QB, WR, OT, CB, OG Bill Parcells and the Miami Dolphins have a lot of needs following a 1-15 season. They started this draft off on the right foot on Tuesday by signing Jake Long to a 5-year deal, making him the leagues highest paid offensive lineman. The former Michigan Wolverine was chosen to anchor the Dolphins line, and eventually be the ultimate protector of whoever becomes Miami?s next ?franchise? QB. The Fins select again at No. 32, which is technically a 1st round pick, thanks to New England loosing theirs to ?Spygate,? penalties. I wouldn?t be shocked if Miami makes a trade, especially with the Jason Taylor situation, and find them selecting before No. 32. I see K...

Bucs Buzz: Lito Shephard Trade, Madden Cover, Defensive Ends, and Mock Draf
2008-04-25 02:23:00
There's rumors flying around the net about the Eagles and Bucs possibly getting together (yesterday) in order to put CB Lito Sheppard in Red and Pewter.. The RUMOR has been confirmed as truth by FoxSports Jay Glazer, "FOXSports.com has learned that Sheppard was in Tampa on Wednesday to visit with the Buccaneers, who have emerged as the frontrunner for the two-time Pro Bowler, and is likely to be traded by Saturday. It appears it will take a second-round pick plus and additional pick or player to get the deal done." - Jay Glazer of Fox Sports Well there you have it.. With Buchanon, Sheppard, and Wilson it would eliminate the Bucs need to draft a CB.. hmm My guess is that will never happen. #1 the Eagles have offered Lito to the Cardinals for Anquan Boldin, do you see any Boldin caliber athletes on our squad? I didnt think so. #2 Lito hasnt been the healthiest Cornerback over his 6 year NFL career. That's one of the main reasons Brian Kelly was allowed to find greener pastures.....

Alan's Mock "Stuff" Draft
2008-04-24 22:48:00
By Alan GableWith the NFL Draft (which honestly is the only draft worth airing on a national media scale) bearing down on us with great pomp and circumstance, I submit my mock draft of some random stuff I like. We'll go with ten because I like the Metric system.10. Metric System - The antiquated English measurement system is nonsensical from both mathematical and functional standpoints. We should do away with it. The basic framework of the metric system working in multiples of 10 instead of 12 is the main component of its awesomeness and deals a devastating blow to its Anglican step-brother.9. Golf - This is the most frustrating game ever devised by any dude. However, there is only one player on Earth good enough to get angry when he hits a bad shot. His name is Tiger Woods, and there will never be anyone like him. Everyone else should reserve themselves to the idea that poor shots happen. Golf is the only major sport where the average fan can still play on a regular basis...

As you may have noticed, I love blogging. When something prevents me from engaging in my (almost) daily trio of cooking, eating, and writing about it, I feel a bit deprived. The strangest triggers will spark a barrage of blogging ideas, and then I’m off.  One of the greatest side effects of blogging is that it encourages you to try new recipes. After all, how can you blog about a novel, interesting dish every few days if you eat the selfsame foods day after day? Still, there’s a certain built-in sense of loss in this pattern.  Often, I’ll find a recipe that’s simply spectacular, and the HH and I will devour it with great gusto and appreciation.  Then I’ll be struck with a sense of melancholy at the knowledge that I’ll likely never cook that dish again, because I must move on to the next one on my ever-expanding list.  It’s somewhat akin to taking a long, boring flight on a business trip and experiencing the serendipitous joy...

Over the entire week leading into the draft, the four authors of Rumblings have unveiled the second version of their Authors Mock, in which each author makes Bills selections for all seven rounds of the NFL Draft. Rounds 1-5 have already been unveiled (see below for picks); here's how each author sees the closing rounds of the draft shaking out for the Bills: Brian Galliford's Picks 6-179: Todd Blythe, WR, Iowa State - I chose Blythe in Version One of this mock draft, and here he'll remain. I like Blythe's size and red zone production, and the Bills reportedly do as well. He's got growth potential and could eventually ...

WE HAVE A TRADE!!! The Jacksonville Jaguars, represented by MHR Favorite Claaaaas has made a trade with Jon Tollerud and the Minnesota Vikings. The details are below -- Minnesota Gets - #26 Overall Jacksonville Gets - #47, #113, #142 and #173 Claaaaas breaks it down this way - Our board was hit hard by the last couple of picks, so i don't see value enough among the currently available players. Receivers has to be extremely good for us to take him as we have invested a lot of money on the position in reloadingseason (Williamson, Porter). I don't see any pass rusher-value or corner value(Merling's injury-problems scare us a bit). DT is also a need (departure of Stroud), but i have 3 on my board, and at least one of the three will be available when we pick again. Rumblings Authors Mock, V2.0: Round Three Picks
2008-04-22 14:24:00
After unveiling our first and second round picks over the last two days, the authors of Buffalo Rumblings are now ready to unveil the ultra-important third round of our Authors Mock Draft. Through two rounds (eight selections total), the four of us have predicted a whopping seven players will be the newest Buffalo Bills come this weekend (Oklahoma WR Malcolm Kelly is the only repeat pick). Here's how we chose in round three: Brian Galliford's Pick 3-72: Tyvon Branch, CB, Connecticut - I have Branch rated as the #8 corner on my board, which leaves out players who would struggle in Buffalo's preferred style of defense. Branch has outstanding straight-line speed (4.31), is tough and competitive, has excellent leadership qualities and works his tail off. He's talented enough to start in a Cover 2 defense in this league, plus he can return kicks. He'd be a great fit as a dime back to start (while upgrading the team's special teams units), and has enough talent and potent...

Rumblings Authors Mock, V2.0: Round Two Picks
2008-04-21 14:36:00
With round one of the second go-round of the Buffalo Rumblings Authors Mock unveiled yesterday, it's naturally time to move on to round two. For anyone who missed it, each author here is predicting all ten Buffalo Bills picks; the real selections, of course, will be made this coming weekend. Round two is coming at you right now; round three, rounds four and five, and rounds six and seven will all be posted on successive days, ending this project on Thursday. Without further ado, here are the authors' second-round picks: Brian Galliford's Pick 2-41: John Carlson, TE, Notre Dame - I'm of the mind that the Bills need to find a starting tight end in this draft, relegating Robert Royal back to his more suitable #2 TE role. I've been a big advocate of Texas A&M's Martellus Bennett, and still have him as the top tight end available this year, but he could very well be gone by the time the Bills pick in the second round. Carlson is not quite as quick but is tougher afte...

No. 52 Presented by Buc'Em Red Bryant Defensive Tackle Texas A&M With the 52nd overall selection in the 2008 SB Nation NFL Mock Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have selected Texas A&M defensive tackle Red Bryant.  Here's my rationale below:   We gambled on taking a WR/PR with that first round draft pick in Cal's DeSean Jackson and have really got a not-so-spectacular group of corners left to choose from thanks to Dave and those pesky Falcon fans who chose CB Tracy Porter with their 48th pick.  With that said we've decided to go with Texas A&M's Defensive Tackle Joseph "Red" Bryant.  The Bucs have been rumored to like Red and he's certainly a better value at this point than any cornerback we could have potentially pursued. Red is a monster at 6'5" and 320+ pounds. He's got a great presence, ideal physique, and a mean streak the fan base will grow to love (ask OT Chris Williams about those haymakers he received during a Se...

With The 25th Pick In The MHR Community Mock Draft....
2008-04-20 18:20:00
The Seattle Seahawks, represented by longtime MHR Member WABronco, select.... BRIAN BROHM, QB - LOUISVILLEG.M. - WABronco -- Seattle GM Tim Ruskell justifies this pick with the following:a) Clear case of Best Player Available.  Brohm was a consensus top prospect last season and going into this season, and getting him at the end of the first makes a lot of sense.b) Making this pick gives Seattle valuable depth behind the second of their two most important players, the first being Walter Jones.  This allows them to remain competitive for longer than their present, perceived window. Also, this gives Jim Mora Jr. a young QB to mold under once his tenure begins after the following season.c) He's a good fit in the WCO.  Smart, extremely accurate pocket passer.d) WR such as Devin Thomas and Desean Jackson, as well as DE's like Calais Campbell were strong considerations here but Brohm's value wins out.  Seattle has young players at both WR and DE, and they have proven...
Rumblings Authors Mock, V2.0: Round One Picks
2008-04-20 14:34:00
Just a hair over a month ago, the authors of Buffalo Rumblings brought you the first version of our Authors Mock Draft. In that exercise - the first installment viewable here - each author predicted the Buffalo Bills' picks in all seven rounds of the upcoming draft. Since that time, several things have changed, most importantly of all that the Bills now have more picks. So, in the week leading up to the draft, we are now going to publish Version 2 of our Authors Mock Draft. Once again, we are not going to predict trades, and we will make picks based on selections the Bills currently have. All seven rounds will air this week; it will be a chance for us to discuss prospects and strategies one last time leading into the draft. Without further ado, here are the Round One picks: Brian Galliford's Pick 1-11: Devin Thomas, WR, Michigan State - Buffalo needs a starting wide receiver, Thomas is the consensus #1 receiver in the draft, he fits Buffalo's offense and has outstandi...

Without further ado, here are the Round One picks: Brian Galliford's Pick 1-11: Devin Thomas, WR, Michigan State - Buffalo needs a starting wide receiver, Thomas is the consensus #1 receiver in the draft, he fits Buffalo's offense and has outstanding potential...
Sport Crack Mock Draft Round 2: The Whole Damn Thing!
2008-04-19 22:30:00
I know that there are some people who dislike Round 1 Mock Draft?s, seeing as how most of it can be (and most often is) incorrect. Get one pick wrong and your entire Mock Draft can go down the tubes. Never mind that a Round 2 mock draft is basically like predicting which Bengals players will be
Mock Draft 3.0

First off, let me just say one thing.  The media is already all over this "slip up" in which GM Jeff Ireland may or may not have inadvertently shown Miami's hand.  The south Florida papers, especially, are already beating this story into the ground.  But in reality, who really has any idea at all what it means?  If the Dolphins were looking to go defense, then why (with 8 days left until the draft) have the Dolphins only opened up contract talks with one player, an offensive tackle at that?  At this point, nobody has any idea what Miami's plans are or if Ireland's "slip up" was actually a mistake or if it was planned.  Granted, it didn't seem too planned when watching it.  But maybe Jeff's just a very good actor.  Just don't blow this story out of proportion. Moving on, since it's Friday and there isn't anything really new to discuss, I thought I'd just throw up my latest mock draft and then get some thoughts from you guys.  Also...

Mock Draft round 2: Hogs Haven needs YOU

TexSkins thinks we're going to be picking in the SB Nation Mock Draft sometime around Saturday, so it's time to start thinking about who we should select. He produced this list of possible moves: I think we need to go DL, OL, or WR.  That's pretty obvious.  Some names I've got: DL  Ellis (DE) (Va Tech) Jackson (DE) (USC) Bryant (DT) (A&M) Okam (DT) (UT) OL Rachal (G) (USC) Schuening (G) (Oregon St.) WR Hardy (Indiana) Add your own in the comments section, with justifications. A somewhat current list of the players taken thus far is on the left hand sidebar of Mocking the Draft. I really feel like holding out for Jordy Nelson in the 3rd round, though in a phone conversation TexSkins suggested the idea of taking Nelson early just to make sure, and I wasn't totally against it. Hardy would make a fine receiver, too. I like anyone high on the O-Line list and though I'm personally more inclined to take a DE than a DT, word is that Greg Blache really wants an inter...

The Tennessee Titans, being handled by Arctic Bronco, select... MARIO MANNINGHAM, WR - MICHIGAN G.M. - Arctic Bronco -- Mario Manningham, 6'0" 185 lb. speedster from the University of  Michigan will help the Titans as they build their team around their QB of the future, Vince Young.  He is described by Pro Football Weekly as a sleek, gliding, quick-twitch athlete.  Manningham is particularly suitable for VY as he was rated by the major draft publications as having excellent hands and the ability to reach out and pluck the ball out of the air due to his top notch body control.  His route running is also rated as excellent, that is a major need for a young QB and should also help limit the interceptions.  He definitely grades out as a potential #1 receiver.     There have been concerns about his mouth and the possible impact in the locker room, but VY definitely has the leadership to keep Manningham or any other receiver from becoming a distrac...

The Pittsburgh Steelers, represented by PABroncoFan, select.... JEFF OTAH, OT - PITTSBURGH G.M. - PABroncoFan -- Offensive Line is the Steeler's #1 need. I was thinking about Godser Cherilus here, but I realized that nobody took Otah. He has been generally rated higher than Cherilus, and has more of a chance in the future to play LT when Marvel Smith leaves or retires. I was looking at WR here, but when Sweed was picked, I turned to OT because Devin Thomas and DeSean Jackson are not the type of big 6'3' or taller guy Big Ben is looking for. James Hardy also was an option, but I am going to gamble that he is still there in the second round or possibly trade up or take a flyer on Adarius Bowman in the third or fourth. The Draft So Far -- #1 - Miami Dolphins - DE Chris Long, Virginia #2 - St. Louis Rams - OT Jake Long, Michigan #3 - Atlanta Falcons - DT Glen Dorsey, LSU #4 - Oakland Raiders - RB Darren McFadden, Arkansas #5 - Philadelphia Eagles(via Trade w/ K.C. Chiefs) ...
