Navigating the ?Mommy Doldrums?
2008-05-14 19:34:00
Doldrums: A period of stagnation or slump. A period of depression or unhappy listlessness. A region of the ocean near the equator, characterized by calms, light winds, or squalls. The weather conditions characteristic of these regions of the ocean. I am sailing the doldrums of motherhood today.  Am I the only one who occasionally wonders what happened to my life?  ...

The Most Beautiful Woman In The World
2008-05-11 14:29:00
When she clicks the link to my blog today and sees that photo up there, she’ll make a face and groan. Because she doesn’t like looking at herself. She’d much rather look at a photo of her grandchildren. The funny thing is, when I look at my girls, I can’t help but ...

Down With The Sickness
2008-05-10 18:29:00
It all started with Julia catching a cold. I’m not sure how she caught it - kids catch colds, yo - but I’d been trying to convince her that it was because she picks her nose so much. Cure the cold, cure the nosepicking. Two birds, one stone. That’s what I was ...
Pajama Mommy Write Up
2008-05-08 15:30:00
I thought I would share with all of you a post from Pajama Mommy----------------------I was just at one of my sister-in-law’s house the other day and she set up a chore chart. I find those to be remarkable useful. Heck, I set up one for myself and I’m a grown up :. Really these are amazing tools we’ve been using the original idea of them “to do list” but someone finally stepped up and mass produced them for families. I think these are awesome. Currently for my to-do list for myself I use my momAgenda, but what about for the entire family? I don’t want someone man-handling my personal organizer. Well I wanted something that is great and I can just print out in a snap for the next week or even month. Granted, I am computer savvy but I’m not a designer. I have people who design for me but I don’t always want to pay them to do every little thing so I decided I wanted some for free. As everyone here knows my motto is: “Cheap, Free, and Easy” well what about combining...

Beware The Sleep Deprived Mom
2008-05-06 06:59:00
I’d been through it before, but somehow I had forgotten how overwhelming the lack of sleep is with a new baby. I can remember sitting on the floor of Julia’s dimly lit nursery during the 3 a.m. hour, holding her in my arms, rocking my body and singing, Julia, Julia where shall we go? The ...

"That was a good run Mommy!"
2008-05-03 06:48:00
That's exactly what the toddler said to me when I walked in the door from a 30 minute run today. He looked so genuinely excited and interested in the run that I had a tear in my eye (I told you, a sap!). It was just so darn cute and I love the fact that I'm teaching him to be active and that exercise is fun. He watches me from the window and cheers me on and I love it! Other news today, let's see... I've been spending a lot of time getting my new home office set up. Now that may sound sooo official, but it's just a new desk in my extra bedroom. But a desk I desperately need. Every night I work on my laptop in the living room. I have tripods and cameras all over the kitchen and more power cords then I can count on the couch next to me. I think I finally need my own space to work on my sites and my other projects. Speaking of projects I'm working on a bunch of fun web site, which really, is my favorite thing to do. My semester is wrapping up soon and I'm counting the days, p...

Hey Kids! I'm Having a Mommy Makeover!
2008-04-21 18:19:00
Now this is something I've never thought about, but it's good, I guess, that someone has.... A way to tell your kids that you're going to the doctor and coming home with new boobs, a flat tummy, and (why not?) a new nose. These three cosmetic surgery procedures are so common in post-childbirth women, they have their own marketing package -- mommy makeovers. My Beautiful Mommy
2008-04-19 07:13:00
My Beautiful Mommy is the title of a new book that just came out.  And no, this is not a book about celebrating the natural beauty of mothers, just in time for Mother's Day. While it looks as innocuous as Dora the Explorer, the children's television series about Dora and her adventures that has garnered a cult following and a whole series of books, this is no Dora the Explorer.  This is a book for mothers that need a vehicle to explain to a children why her nose looks different and her face is bandaged.

Mommy Time !!!
2008-04-18 04:20:00
It is Thursday night!!! Which means just one thing? This time tomorrow I?ll be enjoying a glass of wine at my Moms Beach Getaway! Our yearly trip is finally here! As much as I?ll miss my family, I will admit I am looking forward to this mini holiday. The weather out here (Pacific Northwest) is a little crazy right now. After a gorgeous weekend the rain returned. However they are predicting possible snow a long the coast this weekend. That is just crazy! Especially for the month of April. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us Friday afternoon when we are all driving up to the beach house. The last thing we want to do is drive in heavy rain, or worse yet SNOW. Once we get there the weather can be as crazy as it wants to be. Except for a little shopping in the tourist shops on Saturday, we usually just hang out at the beach house. It is a weekend of wearing comfortable clothes, and no make-up. We?ve been known to play a few board games, but usually we just sit around wit...

Review: An Unlikely Mommy
2008-04-15 02:19:00
An Unlikely Mommyby Tanya Michaels As Joyous, Tennessee's only female mechanic, Ronnie Carter is more used to fixing carburetors than dressing for a date. So when Jason McDeere asks her out, she's thrown into a panic! Not only is the handsome high school teacher Ronnie's secret crush, he's the single father of an adorable toddler...who wants a mommy.A tomboy in overalls isn't the role model Jason had in mind for his young daughter. But the better he gets to know her, the more he's convinced that Ronnie's exactly what he's looking for. He has no doubt she'd make the ideal mother for Emily. But is he the perfect family man...for her?Tanya Michaels, one of my favorite Harlequin authors, has created a family to love. Ronnie Carter is the only girl in a family of men: her widowed father and overprotective brothers...who have made it their goal in life to protect her from the wrong kind of men. Unfortunately for Ronnie, that has meant every man she's ever met. That is, until she...

I get at least one e-mail a day for penis enhancement products. Normally, they have subject lines that are pretty graphic and gross: Penetrate her so deep she barfs up your penis! I feel such sadness and fear for the person who sees that and thinks, “This is exactly what I need!” and starts ...
Certified Mommy Blogger
2008-04-13 09:20:00
Both kids are on a sleep over at a friend's house. Hubby is asleep. And what am I doing? You guessed it - I'm blogging! yes, BLOGGING. Oh I just love blogging. Some non-blogger have a hard time understanding this, but a certified mommy blogger like me knows exactly what I mean when I say that blogging is such a cool thing! The title of this post is kind of deceptive. I am not really going to talk about what it means to be a certified mommy blogger. I just thought that title is cool. The truth is this is going to be another one of those "random post on a lot a stuff in random". Because it's 10 o'clock at night, and my brain does not do coherent at 10PM. A Break for Mommy: Spa Week in Silver Spring & all over the country
2008-04-13 00:14:00
My friend Kristin has a hilarious blog called Mommy Needs a Cocktail and an online shop called Baby Brewing, and with my last order of fabulous tees and baby gifts she tucked in a darling little magnet with a retro design that proclaimed "Mommy Needs A Break." (She also sent the same magnet in her baby gift to Angelina Jolie, see here.)My point, and I do have one: Have truer words ever been printed thanMommy Needs a Break? Well, select spas and salons can provide you with one for a reduced price with Spa Week April 14-20. The below locations are offering deluxe treatments for the dramatically reduced price of $50. This deal means that a 50 minute rubdown will cost about the same as a 20 minute one, and you'll get cool things like hot lava rocks on your back, champagne with your pedi and other diva magic. Here is the list of spas all over country that are participating, such as Elizabeth Arden Red Door salons and other fancy places. For my Silver Spring sisters (OK, brothers too)...
