Money Talks, But Why Isn't It Speaking For The Libertarians?
2008-06-02 18:08:00
I bring this up because while Barr might've been excused for donating to Larry Craig's campaign prior to his arrest, there can be little justification for his defense of Craig once his proclivities became public knowledge -other than being an ass blanket for the GOP Hypocritical Pervert Brigade. It only makes sense that those people you deem worthy of donations would also be deemed worthy of supporting- I can't think of a single, solitary person who donates their hard-earned money to politicians that have diametrically opposing views. read more

Memo to America: MONEY TALKS (Cinco de B.O.!)
2008-04-28 16:09:00
Memo to the Media:Follow the money!Nearly 1,500,000 Obama supporters have given to his campaign for the nomination of the Democratic party. The established media spins the question of "whether Obama is electable" because of his "loss" in PA though he closed the gap (which had been huge.) Let's note: Clinton's campaign is in serious debt while Obama's supporters continue to send in small donations - like the "$5 on 5/5, Cinco de Mayo, Cinco de B.O." concept.Obama's Grassroots Fundraisers are hard at work, and money is coming from individual donors in small amounts - people who never donated before are stepping into the game. The unprecedented numbers tell the tale: more people are actively supporting this candidate than any other in history.Memo to Obama: they get it.learn more about Obama * follow the money * digg story
Stopping Plastic Shopping Bags - Money Talks
2008-02-05 21:33:00
This seems like a sensible plan to dramatically reduce plastic bag use.In 2002, Ireland passed a tax on plastic bags; customers who want them must now pay 33 cents per bag at the register. There was an advertising awareness campaign. And then something happened that was bigger than the sum of these parts.Within weeks, plastic bag use dropped 94 percent. Within a year, nearly everyone had bought reusable cloth bags, keeping them in offices and in the backs of cars. Plastic bags were not outlawed, but carrying them became socially unacceptable ? on a par with wearing a fur coat or not cleaning up after one?s dog. I have always felt that gentle persuasion is not enough to get people to stop using plastic grocery bags. I am the worst offender. We have plenty recyclable bags and I even have them in the car, but I am lazy. Retailers here make it easy in the sense that they are readily available when you check out, but you have to pay, a powerful disincentive. Punishing lazy behaviour with...

Money 'talks" (intro)"Money, Money, Money - it must be funny in a rich man's world.." Amelia remembered the lyrics of some songs by Abba quite well (when she was a kid, it was her favorite band), the other tune which she liked singing while taking a bath, came back from a different country and was performed by Pink Floyd, it was "Another Brick in the Wall" She hated being another anonymous part of the social structure governed by those who have power. Amelia understood the meaning of the songs very well, and her interpretation seemed to be deep and very moving. for this young woman, the world of the rich and powerful was strange - she cared for money and her position in the society, but didn't need to have everything at any price. She preferred her idealism, though she felt that most of the newly rich despise her and treat her as a hopeless and helpless creature. What Amelia despised in them, was the greed for money and need for power, they wanted to manipulate others.. and posse...
Money Talks - Putin
2008-01-14 21:36:00
We at Secret Teachings wondered why Putin was named man of the year, we now know - money talks. The cash starved population in Russia will be happy to know the ex chief FSB (KGB) now President of Russian Federation is looking after it for them. Stanislav Belkovski, Russian political analyst, estimated Putin's capital to be about $40 billion. In an interview to the German magazine Die Welt he claimed that Vladimir Putin is a major businessman in Russia, as he is the holder of 37% "Surgutneftgaz" stocks, which is estimated to be worth $20 billion. In addition, the Russian President also holds 4.5% of "Gazprom" stocks and 50% of the oil trading company "Gunvor", which had an $8 billion income last year and $40 billion turnover. Mr. Belkovski also mentioned that Mr. Putin's representative in "Gunvor" is a close friend of him - Gennady Timchenko.Putins father was not overheard to say, 'I?m pleased for the lad? he started networking on his Sunday Morning paper round and I guess it paid ...

I have created a  Blog to give all the information about the Game of Foreign Exchange, although, its not a game but it should be played very seriously. I have seen many people, going man about it. I had a friend who just made living with this kind of money. Watching him putting so less effort in it, another friend of mine quit his job and started trading, by opening an account and thinking he will be a millionaire in few months. But you know what happened to him? He did not become a millionaire, but he now has got everything. And by everything, I mean every damn thing, See, this is why it is becoming the interest of many youngsters, who want to make it big. Its good if you are doing any kind of job, but you know yourself that you can’t make it big by working for any XYZ business, until you do things for your own. In Forex, you risk your own money and there is a possibility of loss, you get the most benefit out of it,

Money Talks
2007-09-21 11:15:00
The Halifax Daily News ran an article today with an interesting opening paragraph. It read :"A student-funded think-tank is calling for greater student representation on university boards in Atlantic Canada."So a think-tank, which is funded by student, wants students to be better represented in universities? Good proof that money can buy you almost anything. In this case it is a 40 page report calling for changes which would benefit the people in class. The point being made is valid however. The report will claim that since students are now the major fund generator for universities, they should be highly visible in the board meetings. The think-tank will also call for all agreements between schools and private companies be made public so the agreement remains fair for students.Just like a company that has gone public on the stock market and must answer to their share holders, universities should have to answer to the students. They are the ones which keep the institution up and runni...

Investors have been presented the golden opportunity to build more wealth by investing in silver and gold bullion. A little snippet from last week's Glossop Chronicle:Store signs may be here to stayTesco looks like keeping the signs it erected without advertisement consent at their Glossop store. High peak Development Control Committee is poised to let the supermarket giants keep them.If the company gets the go ahead however, it will be a blow to Councillor Ivan Bell. The Old Glossop Independent claims they on the edge of a conservation area and "out of keeping". The two red, white and blue gantry signs, double sided and externally illuminated, are next to the petrol station and adjacent to the Wren Nest Road store's car park.Council officials say they are not on listed buildings or in the conservation area. And as such are signs normally expected at a large supermarket and are not out of keeping with the general street scene. Do we really need a point-by-point rebuttal? Words fail me (and Ivan Bell contradicts himself again).

Money Talks. Paris Hilton Walks?
2007-05-10 14:28:00
NY Daily News: Why should Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger give a moment's thought to Paris Hilton's plea that he reduce her jail sentence? The Hilton family might feel the Gov owes them. Our review of campaign contributions shows that her grandpa, W. Barron Hilton, and Hilton Hotels gave a total of $59,600 to Arnold's campaigns between Sept. 3, 2003, and May 9, 2006. Schwarzenegger's press secretary, Aaron McLear, tells us: "The governor makes decisions on what he believes is in the best interest of the people of California," not the Hiltons. But McLear says they have made no formal petition to Arnold, adding, "There are legal remedies for her to pursue before the governor would become involved in this." Money talks
2007-02-17 07:15:02
During the 1987 film, 'Wall Street,' I recall when Gordeon Gekko says, "Money talks."  He has his own opinion when he says candidly that "every dream has it's price."  We must find a way to clarify our dream before we can decide what sacrifices we're willing to take to make it possible. Wall Street reveals how a young and impatient stockbroker is willing to do anything to rise in status to the top, including trade on illegal 'inside' information. He's ready to make unethical decisions which jeopardize his career.  He does it all for him future and as an effort to earn the respect of a ruthless and greedy corporate raider whom takes the youth under his wing. When we think of choices we make to better our own lives, we realize compomises and sacrifices will need to be made. We aren't physically able to be in every place at once.  We reduce time spent with loved ones if we're away somewhere working....
