Hardtimes Lessons: ?Moonlighting,? story and poem by William T. Dawson
2008-05-27 14:45:00 William T. Dawson’s poem “Moonlighting” is a poem of an event from the 1980s (when some of us remember the recession). Dawson’s poem speaks to our times as hard times cycle back around. I asked William to tell us a bit about the context surrounding writing his poem. This is what he said: I write primarily ...
Moonlighting in Barcelona
2008-01-21 06:22:00 Madrid and Barcelona, IMO, are two of the most romantic cities in the world. I was so fortunate to visit the latter during the 1992 summer Olympics. It was a magnificent city, with polite and hospitable citizenry. Watching the Olympics live was exhilarating. Equally, and in fact it was a bonus, it is a joy to visit the great popular sites there. But what I really enjoyed most was the night life in Barcelona. Here you will find the famous La Rambla -the World famous boulevard of Barcelona that spans all the way from the Harbour to La Placa Catalunya running through the Ciutat Vella. La Rambla is full of tourists, and at night, the locals come out for the nightclub scene. It was a romantic and marvelous experience. During the day, take a stroll and watch street performers, hop from flower and pet stalls to another, or just sit relax and mingle with the people of Barcelona passing by. If you decide to visit Madrid or Barcelona do reserve your accommodations on any of the following:...

Perfect Stranger - Dir: James Foley
2007-10-05 11:01:00 This is an interesting one. Halle Berry and Bruce Willis are always watchable if they have the right material. It seems here that they just about do. Halle Berry plays a journalist that is trying to snair the killer of one of her friends. The main suspect is Bruce Willis' ad agency head character who is known to have met her online and subsequently had an affair. It's a slow burner but not in a boring way, more in a purring Halle Berry way, which is ironic considering the terrible Cat Woman movie she was in. Bruce Willis is also okay and reminds us how before he was John Maclane, he was the romantic guy in the TV series Moonlighting. It has a great ending. This is a JM RECOMMENDS.

2007-08-25 16:12:00 In the Operation Family Secrets mob trial today, a Chicago Police officer admitted that he had a year's-long relationship with top ranking members of the Chicago outfit. 2007-04-27 05:00:00 Quicker than I had realized, I?ve basically taken on two full time jobs of late. The first is my day job?which I?ll just leave at that. The second is my tennis journalism gig, which extends beyond the world of Gasquet & Racquet (although [G/R] is the most important, and the most time consuming). All of my tennis ventures require research. This can mean any number of things: going to a live match, watching a match on TV, reading online content, etc. Not surprisingly, it can be rather time consuming, so I conscientiously have to plan my days around tennis. Take last week for example. When Monte Carlo was being shown on The Tennis Channel, even though the live feed was coming through while I was at work, I can assure you that my hours before work (4 a.m. ? 7:30 a.m.) and hours after work (when tape delayed feeds were shown) were planned down to the minute in relation to the tennis on TV. Even when I traveled to New York City to see my beloved New York Rangers in the Stanley Cup p... |
