“Monday Morphosis” Jesus gave us peace at Christmas and He want
2007-12-17 22:15:00 Jesus Christ was born during this Christmas season, so that we could have peace with God. He wants use to take that same peace and share it with someone else. It doesn’t matter if it’s in a line at the store, driving in rush hour traffic trying to get that perfect Christmas gift for that perfect someone, or just wishing life would slow down. I would encourage you this Christmas to find some time know matter where you are at in life and experience peace for yourself by sharing it with others.  Sharing peace with someone else can be as simple as a smile or as profound as providing gifts for a family of six and don’t forget about everything in between. Their are lots of ways to show peace all year long. We just have to show a little initiative and dare to make a difference. So find a “little peace and quiet” this Christmas and please share that peace with someone else. Click the link below to check out a video story of making a great moment t...
“Monday Morphosis” 3 Ways That We As Children’s Ministers
2007-12-11 01:19:00 Today I was getting my haircut at my favorite place SportClips. In the waiting area I observed a very random mom with two kids. Her son was being a normal boy and running around like crazy, nothing out of the norm. Except the fact that she kept telling her son (estimated age of 4) not to do something and he just chose not to listen to her and did whatever he wanted to do anyway. This happened at least 5 or 6 times and to my surprise there were no consequences for his obvious defiant behavior to his mom’s frustrated requests. Finally she got so frustrated with her son not listening to her that she grabbed him by his sweater and pulled him into a seat (this was on the 7th or 8th time). It took everything within me not to intervene and have a good talk with this boy and more so his mom.  Lately I have gotten more requests from parents for me to meet with them and give them advice on what they can do with their kids, who are obviously running right over them and just not...
“Monday Morphosis” 6 daily habits that will change your body fo
2007-12-04 01:05:00  Back on October 1 I blogged about Doctor Oz and today on my day off I saw him again on TV. I have been thinking a lot lately about my physical body and the fact that I am not getting any younger. The question came to my mind, what are some simple things that I can do on a daily basis to change my body for the better? I found this list on Dr. Oz’s website and thought this is simple, pratical and I could really probably do this stuff over the long term. So here is the list and I hope it will be an encouragement to you as it was to me and make it a great week. 6 everyday basics to do . . . uh, every day If you do nothing else, make these life-lengthening habits part of your daily routine: 1. Walk for 30 minutes. You can hoof it all at once, or break it into two 15-minute or three 10-minute sessions . . . just get your body moving and your heart rate going! Aim to take 10,000 steps a day — a pedometer will help you track your steps. 2. Floss and brush the teeth you ...
“Monday Morphosis” Don’t Be Afraid To Shake It Up!
2007-11-26 20:52:00 I am always about change and I have realized lately that I need to shake up my children’s ministry a bit in order for it to be even more effective and have even more energy, excitement and enthusiasm for the families in the community that I serve. I use a lot of technology in my children’s ministry starting with our computerized self check-in process all the way to our video dramas. I have kind of let technology take over even when I speak to the kids on a Sunday morning. I have realized that I need to get back to some of what I call the basics of children’s ministry (object lessons, puppets etc…) that are still very effective in today’s technologically minded society. I did an experiment this last Sunday in which I did a basic object lesson without the use of technology. What I found was that the kids (K-5) loved it. I normally use videos or video stills on the big screen with the use of sound effects while I speak to the kids, but the overwhe...
“Monday Morphosis” Change your family and the families in your
2007-11-20 06:00:00 I really like the show journey man on NBC on Monday nights. As I am watching it and seeing the main character travel through time, he is spending less and less time with his family. He keeps talking about how he needs to help more people through his travels and all the time he is loosing the people that need his help the most, his family. I started thinking about my own life and ministry and wondering am I helping the people that need me the most, my family? Now before I go any further with this post, please don’t misunderstand what I am saying, I totally believe in balance and I am not saying that we shouldn’t help those families in our ministries. I do believe we in full-time ministry have a real tendency to put the ministry before our biggest ministry of all, our families. I know as well as anyone that the ministry is not a 9 to 5 job and at times it can be very demanding and I am ok with that. The Barna Group said that in 2005 44% of adults say that having a satisf...
“Monday Morphosis” 7 ways to improve your children’s mini
2007-11-12 21:45:00 Our RCC Promiseland services last Sunday ended up great, but they didn’t start out that way. So as I am reflecting on last Sunday I thought, what would be a basic list of seven things that could be done to make anyones children’s- ministry services run more smoothly. 1. Don’t run your children’s ministry in a vacuum.  Many children’s ministries focus too heavily on very specific role based information. We only give the information to the people working solely in that position. I will admit this really takes a total paradigm shift in our thinking as a ministry. But we need to give more broad information to everyone in our ministries so that the regular attenders and guests can be helped by everyone that they may come into contact with, during services. 2. Determine exactly how you want your volunteers to give ”Cu-stomer Service” to those attending your services. Looking back on past children’s ministry services, I see that we...
“Monday Morphosis” Remaking Yourself and Your Ministry!
2007-11-05 17:01:00 How do you remake yourself and your ministry? This is a question that is in my head today as I look around my family, my life and my ministry. My first thought on this subject was none of this is mine anyway. So I think the right question should be how does God want to remake us? Wow, what a powerful question! First of all, are we even open to letting God take hold of our lives so powerfully that we are never the same? When I think about this I am reminded of that road to Damascus (Acts 9) experience where God really took a hold of Saul’s life in a very powerful way and he was never the same.  So here is that question again are we willing to let God do whatever he needs to do to remake us? This is a powerful and sobering question. I am as guilty as anyone of getting caught up in the busyness of ministry or life in general. In reality I need to be stopping long enough to spend time with the God who created me and loves me more than anyone. So how do we let God remak...
“Monday Morphosis” It’s All About The Relationship!
2007-10-29 21:47:00  I have come to realize over the years that ministry is truly all about relationships. Whether it is adults, kids or other ministers, relationship is key. You see God designed us to be a people of relationship and without it we would go pretty cazy. In fact it all started with God himself, He created us to first of all have a relationship with Him. Then we are to follow His example and have relationships with others around us as well. Now I am going to say something that will sound contrary to the very blogosphere, but it is not. I don’t belive that most of our relationships should be online. God’s example for us is very personal and so It should be the same with us. Relationships are meant to be in person and personal, this shows the other person or person’s that they are important to us as individual’s. So how does this apply to a ministry or organiztion? I am glad you asked. Think for a minute about all the volunteers and staff that are in your pa...
“Monday Morphosis” Change how do we do it, I mean really?
2007-10-22 19:21:00 Websters dictionary says the definition of change is to make radically different, to replace with another, or to become different.  I am setting in my recliner this evening and this is the question in my head. Change how do we do it, I mean really? I have talked to a lot of people in my time and when this question comes up in conversation I am usually walking away saying, oh really (in my mind of course, not out loud)? I am not trying to cut anyone down, I just have this question in my head. How do we really see long term change in our own lives, our families and our ministries? As I am writing this post, my wife(http://www.rebeccascrazyli-fe.blogspot.com/) chimed in and said “It has to start small”. You know she is right, a lot of people especially those in ministry try to change a huge amount in a short amount of time. They all of a sudden realize maybe I bit off more than I can chew, begin to drop the ball and wonder why is this so hard and not really working for m...

Myth and Metamorphosis. Picasso?s Classical Prints of the 1930s
2007-03-02 03:08:01 Price–$6 To BUY choose or click any of the following: 1- 2-Moneybookers Email: service@bestnichebooks.com Previous studies of Picasso’s involvement with the classical have tended to concentrate on the period immediately following the First World War, and to attribute that involvement to both the rise of political conservatism in France and the domesticating influence of the artist’s marriage to Olga Koklova. Focusing instead on the later, classicizing prints of the 1930s, this book offers a radically different view of Picasso and the “classical”–a- view that aligns his work much more closely with Surrealist, and specifically Bataillean, revisions of antiquity. The book’s argument is built around detailed analyses of several separate print series: Picasso’s illustrations for Ovid’s Metamorphoses, the etchings of the Vollard Suite, and The Minotauromachy. Common to all of them, the book shows, is a strong engagement not only with t...

Metamorphosis
2006-12-03 03:24:06 There's a sense of change coming, needing only a kick-start from me -- so naturally this week I've done virtually nothing, delaying it as long as I can. Whatever happens likely won't be a bad change, and in fact it's greatly needed, but there's a certain comfort in the status quo that breeds reluctance.A week of doing nothing (pressed for achievements... I made enchiladas. That's about it) kind of explains my silence here -- I'd rather sum up nothingness in one post rather than spreading it out over a week of dull posts. One thing I did do: back when I dumped all my comic books, I did keep some of the higher-quality stuff that was collected into trade paperbacks. Among those few, the fairly well-known "Sandman" series. Over this past week, I re-read all of them -- and was surprised at how well they hold up.When the series first started -- back in, I think, the late '80s -- I was kind of intrigued by it, but it was a bit too intricate and not superheroic enough for my tastes. ... |
