MOSHE READS AN ARAB NEWSPAPER
2008-05-12 15:29:00 A story is told of a Jewish man who was riding on the subway reading an Arab newspaper. A friend of his, who happened to be riding in the same subway car, noticed this strange phenomenom. Very upset, he approached the newspaper reader. “Moshe, have you lost your mind? Why are you reading an Arab newspaper?” Moshe replied, ...
"Peace in the Middle East -- An impossibility," quoth Moshe Sharon
2008-02-10 21:18:00 Professor Moshe Sharon has clearly asserted the impossibility of peace in the Middle East. I would amend this to say that under present and foreseeable circumstances peace between the Arabs and Israel is impossible. As Sharon points out the main obstacle to peace is the Arab-Muslim attitude toward non-believers, especially the Jews whom they have oppressed as dhimmis for more than a thousand years. Their religion commands the Arabs/Muslims to make perpetual war against non-Muslim states --with truces allowed when this is for the ultimate benefit of the Muslim war machine, to give it time to rearm and regroup-- until the whole world is brought under the rule of Islam. The name that Muslims give to war for conquering the lands of non-believers [kuffar] is jihad. When non-believers are overwhelmingly militarily superior to the Muslims and are perceived by the Muslims as willing and able and ready to use that military superiority against them, then the Muslims can be very peaceful.Sharo...

Moshe Leiser : Yiddish Songs: Tenderness and Madness Passion
2007-12-10 12:43:00 This album of popular yidish songs is the logical result of a series of encounters. First, there was the encounter of three artists whose friendship grew while making this record. The second was their common approach to the music. The third was the blending of each musician's sensitivity and artistry. The adventure began during an evening shared among friends. Spontaneously, a person took his
Moshe Yaalon designates four errors of the policy of peace in the Near East
2007-09-04 12:01:00 The former general staff boss of Israel Moshe Yaalon published an open letter at Tony Blair in the Israeli newspaper Maariv. Printed to 26.8 a shortened version of the text into the lot of fishing Time (left), the version in more detail is attainable with Ynet or on the private side of the general. After several months, years of the tired lukewarm sayings here a hard formulated analysis, which places itself against Sharons politics, actually already appears against which current government of the country and - which also particularly importantly actual better argued than it knows Netanjahu. A good discussion collecting main in any case.Four errors (left):Primary among thesis is the amounted that solving the Israeli Palestinian conflict is A prerequisite for stability the Middle East. This view might common into the west and even in Israel, but it is entirely fallacious. [

Haim Ramon's act is worse than Moshe Katsav's supposed act
2007-07-17 14:57:00 The Supreme Court president said the following:Supreme Court President Dorit Beinisch said on Tuesday that the charge sheet against Vice Premier Haim Ramon was worse than the one against former president Moshe Katsav.Beinisch made the statement during a High Court discussion of petitions against a plea bargain signed by Attorney-General Menahem Mazuz, which erased Katsav's more serious charges in exchange for the former president admitting to sexual harassment and performing indecent acts. The problem with this here is that I cannot tell whether she said it for good reasons or not. But Ramon is certainly much more guilty of committing an indecent act than Katsav supposedly is.

R' Moshe Cordovero Yarzheit
2007-07-09 04:52:00 Today is the anniversary of the death of one of the greatest kabbalists before the Arizal. R' Moshe Cordovero (RaMaK) wrote extensively on the Zohar attempting to resolve apparent contradictions in this text. After the Arizal brought his new methodology and kabbalistic insights, the RaMaK's writings became less popular (apparently the Arizal said of his writings that they were 'olam he tohu' - 'world of confusion'). However Tomer Devorah (Palm Tree of Devorah) is still learnt today, as one of the basic mussar seforim, and the pardes is still studied by those trying to come to a deeper understanding of the Zohar and kabbalistic worlds. This biography is from ascent.orgAmong the great luminaries of Kabbalah, Rabbi Moshe Cordovero holds a particularly important place as one of the most prolific and systematic exponents of the teachings of the Zohar as well as the writings of almost all the early Kabbalists.Moshe Cordovero - or Ramak (an acronym taken from the first letters of his t...
Yehudit Collins says that allegations against Moshe Katsav make little sens
2007-07-03 06:00:00 Jerusalem Post columnist Yehudit Collins writes about the rape charges that have been brought against former president Moshe Katsav and says that they make very little sense, if at all. Now, if these really are trumped up accusations for the sake of demonizing a politician simply because he may be "right-wing", then all I can say is that the plaintiff is doing a grave disservice to real victims of rape cases, as are any political feminists who take the whole case seriously. One of the most interesting things here is - how and why could this anonymous woman put up with any crap she might've gone through just for the sake of the benefits available in a job like this? I saw a report on TV, and you know what? I didn't believe a word of it. She didn't act like a woman who'd been raped, and she is doing a grave disservice to those who were.Go read the rest and decide for yourself about this.

2007-01-26 06:44:01 Israeli papers Haaretz, Yediot Aharonot and Hatzofeh papers discuss various aspects of the controversy surrounding President Moshe Katsav: Yediot Aharonot believes that the President could have spared both himself and the country much anguish if he had resigned months ago. Book Review - the Potent Self by Moshe Feldenkrais
2007-01-23 00:00:00 Moshe Feldenkrais was born at the beginning of the last century in Russia. At the age of 14 he moved to Palestine and worked as a labourer, going on to study engineering. He then moved to France, escaping to Britain on the eve of the second world war, where he worked on Sonar resarch in Scotland. Moshe was not only an engineer, but also a martial artist - practising Jujutsu and then Judo with it's founder Jigoro Kano. The combination of his martial and scientific background, along with an injured knee lead him to develop a method of bodywork which is gaining in popularity today. Feldenkrais wrote the Potent Self in the 1940's - though it was not published until the 1980's for various reasons. As I read it in 2006 I was amazed at how well the book stands the test of time. There are some details that research has shown to be not completely accurate, but the overall theme of the book and it's style holds true. But what is the theme? Feldenkrais talks about the development of the in... |
