2008-03-27 22:40:00 I love our new property. Most mornings, we have over 150 birds feeding at the 2 feeders or close by, and their sound filling the forest is wonderful. Â Renovations have started on both property and house, though, and seeing if we could get a mountain view without losing any privacy was high priority. This was the view from the breakfast nook 3 days ago. Â Â Another issue was that a tree had fallen against the barn, doing some minor damage, and a huge one that could do serious damage is leaning over the barn. Â Â Â I got the view cutline figured out, and the first major sweat has been cutting down trees the past couple of days. Today I’m resting - that’s tough work for an old man! Â This is the view looking back at the house from half way up the corral. Â Â Â Tah-dah! Here’s Golden Horn this morning. I LOVE mountains, and having this view has made a huge difference to both of us. Â Â Â

Duplex vs Condo in Sunnyvale or Mountain View

A decent 2 bedroom condo in Mountain View will run you $500,000 while a duplex in the same area could be $900,000. For the extra $400,000 you will receive approximately $1800 in rent which wil almost cover your additional debt. The benefits? How about not having to pay monthly homeowners dues, having a private garage, having a backyard, collecting rent, getting tax sheltering from the rental unit, paying less in income taxes, benefiting from a larger appreciation base or getting rent increases? There are many benefits to doing this. I also know that five years from now, you will have a vastly better financial picture than if you had bought a condo.

Mountain View Gets State OK
2007-03-24 15:10:00 Well, in the continuing saga of the Mountain View vs. The Town of Clarksburg, it looks as though the owners of the Mountain View have prevailed in their appeal to the Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission. The ABCC has ruled that the town must reinstate the liquor license and if it does not, the commission will use its power under state statute to issue a license to the owners of the Mountain View. The town had until March 21st to re-issue the license, but apparently the postman can deliver to the owners of the Mountain View, the Milazzo's house, but doesn't deliver to Town Hall in Clarksburg. They claim to not be in receipt of any letter from the ABCC yet, which Clarksburg Select Board voice Debra LeFave claims to have been sent by "Pony Express." So, the 21st has come and gone with no action from the board, which doesn't see the need to call an emergency meeting on the matter. Given its location in Mountain View right along the border of neighboring Sunnyvale, it's easy to see why. Even in the rain that day, it was a noticeably short walk to Verisign headquarters, Symantec (formerly Veritas headquarters), Vernier Networks, and KPMG. Though driving there from Bedford Square would make even the least green people in California feel guilty, Bedford Square is tucked away so that it doesn't feel like an extension of the office. 2007-03-01 12:47:00 The Town of Clarksburg had only two words for the owners of the Mountain View at their meeting Wednesday evening: "No Action." This mean that the owners will now re-appeal the town's (read: Debora Lefave's) decision to the Massachusetts ABCC, with a likely showdown in Superior Court. Get ready to open up your wallets at Town Meeting, rersidents of Clarksburg. The line item for town legal services is bound to be going up signifigantly. Clarksburg Loses Appeal Of Mountain View's License Denial
2007-02-22 01:59:00 The state Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission has ruled that the Town of Clarksburg was wrong in denying the renewal of the liquor license for the Mountain View Restaurant because the board believed it wasn't a restaurant any longer. In its official ruling, the ABCC ..."disapproves the action of the local board with the recommendation the local board renew the Mountain View license for 2007." Board Chairperson Deborah LeFave is quoted in the Transcript as saying "The commission can't make us do anything." Sounds like this board is going to be costing the residents of Clarksburg many more dollars in legal fees before this is over. Jennifer Huberdeau's story from the Transcript is found here.
