After 19 Years, ?Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? Phenom
2008-05-22 07:00:00
CHICAGO ? After such a long respite from the beloved film progression, I was initially just as skittish about seeing Harrison Ford back in the Indy saddle as I was watching Sylvester Stallone back in the ring in ?Rocky Balboa? in his 2006 comeback and then again in 2008 in his ?Rambo? return. Ultimately, though, I had faith in director Steven Spielberg not to royally torpedo the monolithically anticipated ?Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,? which resurrects the Chicago-born, 65-year-old Harrison Ford as one of my favorite film characters of all time. Spielberg delivers. Thank the heavens. In grappling with Ford?s real-life age, David Koepp?s screenplay comically writes in subtle jabs to wrangle with the reality. Just like Stallone didn?t try to hide it in ?Rocky Balboa? and he instead decided to honestly portray it, so did Ford?s character grow older. ?The Witnesses? Bear the AIDS Burden of a Time Less Remembered
2008-05-20 06:22:00
CHICAGO ? While Paris, France in 1984 probably wasn?t as romantic as the Paris in several of its other lionized eras, it existed just the same. As portrayed in ?The Witnesses,? it was an age that may have been more uncertain than the others based on a melting pot of inhabitants who immigrated to the City of Lights in search for a new life. But it was also an age where the co-mingling of that particular generation produced some unintended consequences. The story of who survived and who didn?t defined our nature for several years to come. Read Patrick McDonald?s full review of ?The Witnesses? in our reviews section.View our full, high-resolution ?The Witnesses? image gallery. Portrayed by Emmanuelle Bart, Sarah is a writer of children?s books who has just had her first child. She is married to a police officer, Mehdi (Sami Bouajila), and has several loyal friends. One of her best friends is a gay, middle-aged doctor named Adrien (Michel Blanc). He?s thrilled to introduce her to h...

If you are like me, then you too probably enjoy some of the Horror movies that come out of Asia. Either it be China’s or Japan’s, they both usually put on a very creepy but entertaining flick. There is one that caught my eye and I would really like to see and it is called DeathNote. ...
Packed With Picturesque Majesty, ?The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian?
2008-05-16 20:51:00
CHICAGO ? For the life of me, I couldn?t exorcise it from my head. Amid all the splendor of such a picturesque film, this one question was like a gnat I couldn?t swat: ?Is this really rated ?PG??? Indeed, ?The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian? is rated ?PG?. But that didn?t come without great scrutiny and much editing. For starters, Walt Disney Pictures contractually required the filmmakers for the epic film to achieve a ?PG? rating. The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) granted it following a wide array of amendments. For example, director Andrew Adamson (who also directed ?The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe? in 2005, ?Shrek 2? in 2004 and ?Shrek? in 2001 and wrote ?Shrek the Third? in 2007) changed a scene with a fallen helmet to make certain it didn?t contain a decapitated head, according to the Los Angeles Times on May 4, 2008. Movie review Bhootnath, Bhootnath ready to shock viewers away from the thea
2008-05-15 21:02:00
Bhootnath is kiddish rather than being a movie for kids. If you want to watch Big B making faces, rather than emoting, watch Bhootnath. Bhootnath disappoints grossly and add one more to the disappointing flops that Bollywood has generated this year. The story: It is about a child’s encounter with the friendly ghost of the house. As you know it, the Bhoot is only visible by the child and the ghost is always there to help the kid in every scene except for one. The kid (Banku) has a doting mom in the form of Juhi Chawla and a dad in the form of SRK(who seems to have given just three odd days to shoot the movie). Shahrukh Khan works in a cruise liner and mostly interacts with the kid by phone. One comes to know about the ghost’s sad story which coincides with Baghban released some years ago. Mr. Bhootnath was a doting father whose son(Priyanshu) became busy with his career in the west and couldn’t call his parents on time. I fail to understand what is a cardinal sin if t...
Bollywood flops 2008-Bollywood Box office results, first quarter
2008-05-15 21:00:00
There is a close relationship between Bollywood and cricket, and I am not talking about the IPL matches. I am referring to the bad patches. Bollywood has been suffering from a bad patch for the past 4 and a half months. 2008 had a lot of expectations for Bollywood, but save for the super hit Race, every other movie released so far, has flopped miserably. Jodhaa Akbar can hold its head moderately high because it fared well as a semi hit.Tashan, Krazzy 4, Black and White, U, Me aur Hum, Halla Bol and Bhootnath had a lot of expectations and all of them have disappointed. Here are some of the reasons why such movies turned flops:Halla Bol: Bad music, some scenes looked fake and long-drawn?.(In fact, Halla Bol can be termed as an unfortunate flop, because it was one of the better movies of the year)Sunday: It was not funny ! We wished there was more of Ayesha Takia around who charmed the audience in the first half.Black & White: The title kept many viewers out of the theatre. Bad mov...

Banner: Vyjayanthi Movies Producer: Aswini DuttDirection/screenplay/dialog-ues: Meher RameshMusic: Mani Sharma Cast: Junior NTR, Hansika Motwani, Tanishaa, Kota Srinivas Rao, Prakash Raj, Mukesh Rushi, Sayaji Shinde, Brahmanandham, Ashish Vidyarthi, Sunil, Raghu Babu, Krishna Bhagvan and others.Positive Points: NRT Dance in Songs is really very good , you can watch movie just for songs. Ntr and hansika Lip kisses are shown 2 times in film. Comedy in First part is good. UnExpected twists in second half will surprise telugu people who dont watch bollywood /hollywood movies. 2 songs are highlite and remaining are avg. Negative Points: Kantri is combination of 4-5 movies together. Almost all movie including jokes are taken from some or the other movie.( Pokiri , Munna, (bluffmaster-hindi) and hollywood movies.) NTR too thin in movie and looks kid in big action scenes. Most of action part is same as pokiri. Tanisha is wasted in movie no proper role in movie , atleast no much skin show. R...

Bhoothnath Movie Review
2008-05-09 13:26:00
Bhootnath failed to live up to the expectations according to most movie critics.  Here are some excerpts from a review done by Buzz 18 and to read the entire review, we recommend you visiting the website.Review:Bhoothnath gets lost in the wilderness. It starts off as a perfect entertainer for kids. There is even a song sung by the kids Hum to Hain Aandhi dancing adult style, which borrows heavily from Westside Story the cult Hollywood film of the '60s. Banku (Aman) has just shifted with his parents (Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla) to this huge house in Goa. But the house is haunted by an angry ghost (Bhoothnath) whose sole aim in life is to rid the house of its inhabitants. And the ghost can be vengeful. After seeing My Brother Nikhil, Krazzy 4 and Bhoothnath one thing is quite obvious Juhi Chawla can’t act. She has one standard stilted expression throughout this film and most other films she is seen in. There was great scope for Juhi in this film especially the scene ...

?Speed Racer? Condemns Franchise Dignity, Delivers Sensorial Explosion
2008-05-09 08:45:00
CHICAGO ? While Hollywood slapped ?PG? on the hotly anticipated ?Speed Racer? to line its pocketbooks with the widest hodgepodge of people (ahem: kids) everywhere, those same kids will leave the theater with that lollipop nearly sucked to the stick but then yanked away with confusion. Rather than the ?go!? marketing hype, this is a stop-and-go proposition. Chicago brothers Larry Wachowski and Andy Wachowski are ultimately wrangling with a clear identity crisis of who this film is meant for. Is it the 1967 crowd who adored the American anime version following the Japanese manga creation? Is it for today?s children who didn?t grow up with the franchise but will magically identify with it from scratch because it?s on the big screen? Perhaps it?s for ?The Matrix? crowd who slobber over the Wachowski?s sensory orgy? Naruto Shippuuden the Movie Review
2008-05-08 22:00:00
The first Naruto movie which takes place in the Shippuuden timeline when Naruto has gotten older after training with Jiraiya for a while came out in theatres in Japan last year but was recently released on DVD and subbed. It's been a long wait for this movie and it ended in disappointment. The movie follows Naruto, Lee, Neji and Sakura as they are assigned by the fifth hokage Tsunade to protect a priestess from the demon country after a group of evil doers intentionally awake an ancient evil spirit who soon after awakening seek to restore it's full power by acquiring it's body sealed away in a temple far away and then (you guessed it) rule the world. The priestess being protected by the gang from Konoha is the only one that can defeat the demon and so she needs to be escorted to the temple to prevent the demon from reuniting with it's body. There are brief split second appearances from other characters in the Naruto universe. It my opinion this movie is bullshit held togethe...

2008-05-07 17:54:00
Offensive is never necessarily funny. Just because you might be baiting the Pharisees does not mean that you are going to be hilarious. Some television shows are able to do that quite well. "Last Tango In Paris" movie review by Ben Kenber
2008-05-07 08:32:00
This is both a brilliant and baffling movie. I spent much time after this movie trying to figure out what it was all about. This is not one of the movies that is easy to explain or understand initially. But for those who are not easily offended, it is worth a viewing to discover brave artists working at the peak of their talents, Marlon Brando and Bernardo Bertolucci. Their collaboration

Comic Book Movie Review: Iron Man
2008-05-06 19:09:00
The Revolution finally got over to the movie theater and saw Iron Man. Needless to say, I absolutely loved the movie. Of course, I knew that I would like this movie. What has stunned me is the impressive opening that Iron Man had last weekend and the overwhelming number of positive reviews from all the movie critics.Iron Man hauled in a remarkable $104 million in its opening weekend. That is the second highest opening ever for a non-sequel and the tenth highest opening of all-time. Overseas, Iron Man pulled in $96.8 million giving Iron Man a grand total of $201 million in its opening weekend. The reported production costs for Iron Man have varied between $140 million and $180 million. So, it appears that Marvel will be netting a nice profit off of Iron Man.Marvel will certainly be happy with Iron Man?s opening weekend seeing that Iron Man is the first movie that is fully financed and produced film by the newly formed Marvel Studios. Paramount Pictures handled the distribution of Iro...

Movie Review: Iron Man (Ironman): Step aside Transformers
2008-05-03 19:47:00
For most of Iron Man's 126 minutes, I was confident that it would overtake Spiderman as the best film adaptation of a superhero comic book. I'm still undecided after a slight intensity and creativity dip towards its end, but I'm certain that anybody with the slightest interest in this genre will find Iron Man as thrilling as a ride underneath an F-22. Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is a hard-partying, frivolous genius- more Mark Cuban than Bill Gates- who applies his considerable smarts towards the world's second oldest profession- making weapons. Militants attack Stark's convoy during a business trip to Afghanistan and take him captive. Another prisoner, Dr. Yinsen (Shaun Toub), saves Stark's life by rigging a car battery to Stark's shrapnel-filled heart. Stark initially refuses to build a “Jericho” missile for the terrorists, but accepts the project after some water-boarding (one of the allusions to current controversies; Blackwater-type guards are another.)....

About 78 days ago, I said “I’m waitting for The Forbidden Kingdom, it must be a great movie I believe”. And today, I watched it in my computer. ?Iron Man? Sits Indisputably in Club of Highest-Rated Superhero Movies Ever
2008-05-02 18:53:00
CHICAGO ? Move over, Superman. This lush, high-octane playboy never tasted so good. Robert Downey Jr. fittingly opens ?Iron Man? with a cocktail in hand and all the arrogance in the world. As the story goes, his conceit is indeed respected as Earth is his oyster both for the playing and for the taking. With the American marketing machine in full effect for 2008?s first summer blockbuster, the inaugural one lives up to the buildup. ?Iron Man? has already not only etched itself the mark of the first indisputable blockbuster of 2008 and one of the best-reviewed films so far in 2008 but also one of the highest-rated superhero movies of all time ? yes, of all time. The film deserves every million it makes. Read Adam Fendelman?s full review of ?Iron Man? in our reviews section.View our massive, high-resolution ?Iron Man? image gallery. Iron Man: Movie Review
2008-05-02 03:00:00
Iron Man, played by Robert Downy Jr and opened to theaters April 30th (May 2 on some parts of the Globe) is the Marvel-related offering from Paramount Pictures. I must say. I’m terribly impressed by the movie as a whole as well as to the minor details. Erm.. I haven’t done a movie review in a LONG while so please bare with me as I touch only the essential stuff and don’t go in depth with the background of the story. I’m not even THAT familiar with Iron Man’s back story. On with the review I was swooned over to the filmed versions of Marvel Comics classics ever since Spiderman entered the stage and set the standards (it’s up to you whether that’s a good thing or bad, it’s hollywood after all) for the 2D superheroes into the silver screen. Sure we’ve all seen Batman (who hasn’t there’s so many “beginnings” that I’m wondering if there’ll be multiple “endings” too) but he’s ...

Movie Review: Resident Evil Extinction
2008-04-29 02:06:00
Having never been a fan of the game franchise (I think they're rather stupid myself, but that's because I like FPS games instead), I have always loved the film adaptations. Why? Because I love zombie movies, even ones like 28 Days Later where the "zombies" aren't really zombies (and actually all those Romero incarnations aren't truly zombie movies either--look it up...try Haiti). Regardless of what you might think about the games, the first Resident Evil flick was darn good. It managed to terrify the crap out of us with those zombie dogs and the truly frightening zombified people. We were able to forgive the makers for the poor CGI too, since those weird mutation things were sort of bad, but didn't take up the screen much. Then came Resident Evil 2 and those of us who liked the first movie were screaming "yes", right up until we saw and we were screaming "no". It seems that awesome cliff-hanger ending in the first film was turned into another relatively interesting idea th...
Arai Yenn 305 il kadavul - tamil movie review
2008-04-28 07:27:00
I heard about this movie in the evening and watched it a couple of hours back. Till date, I've seen movies I loved, movies that were boring and movies that were OK but this is the first time I'm confused so much between the goods and bads in a movie. There were scenes that kept me spell bound and even before I could recover from the impact of the messages there'll be the silliest scene I could imagine, coming up. But despite all the oddities I should say the movie is a pretty decent entertainer.Shankar has proven that he is a smart producer investing minimally and producing a good movie. Somehow he doesn't turn out to be an economical director and his budget never stays within 30 crores (300 million). The movie is a mix of philosophies, fantasies, absurdities, science and realities but the only problem is that all these don't form a homogeneous mixture. The director is confused by too many things and at one point, I could sense the movie's screenplay going out of control. Imag...

TASHAN - MOVIE REVIEW
2008-04-27 23:33:00
Apun Ka Choice: The plot of Tashan is thinner than the waistline of Kareena Kapoor! Once in a while comes a film that offers itself openly for slaughter by critics. Tashan is one such. Towered by a colorful cast comprising the ever-dependable Akshay Kumar, the super-svelte Kareena Kapoor, the mustachioed Saif Ali Khan and the scraggy Anil Kapoor, Tashan is like a package, that is beautifully wrapped to conceal its crappy content. CNN-IBN: There are films that kill you softly, and then there’s Tashan, a film that kills you with excess! The sight of Kareena Kapoor in a two-piece bikini is about the only thing, that wakes you up from your sleep, while watching Tashan! DNA India: The illogicalities of Tashan definitely rest on a filmmaker’s favourite explanation for a bad script – you are supposed to keep your brains back at home for this one. But as Tashan unfolds, you realise the makers probably expected every viewer to have the IQ of an imbecile and fathom every hard-t...
