Here is the second part of my top 20 albums of 2007. 10. Moving Units - Hexes For ExesLabel: Metropolis Released: 09/10/2007- In terms of production I think this is one of the most impressive releases of the year. Its an indie electronica crossover album by a band who seem to have really found themselves. Highly recommended. MORE9. The Wombats - A Guide To Love, Loss, And DesperationLabel: Warners Released: 05/11/2007- The darlings of NME, Radio 1, and the like, The Wombats have been huge in 2007. This album is full of catchy poppy punk rock songs that you find hard to resist. Its fun. MORE8. The Enemy - We'll Live And Die In These TownsLabel: Warners Released: 09/07/2007- Impressive debut album from the Coventry trio. The relevance of the lyrics is as equally important as the excellent rock songs . And tracks such as 40 Days And 40 Nights are real foot stompers. MORE7. Chimaira - ResurrectionLabel: Nuclear Blast Released: 09/03/2007- One of the forerunners of heavy metal, Chimaira...

Back in 2004, Moving Units had a widely acclaimed record, ‘Dangerous Dreams’, that had the great misfortune to have been released only four weeks after the much more successful ‘Wet From Birth’ by The Faint. Good, solid songs were taken as pale imitations that only the clarifying lens of time and distance could reclaim. Well, ...

Moving Units: Hexes for ExesThe sophomore effort for Los Angeles dance punk band, Moving Units is not stylistically different from their debut three years ago.Moving Units take a holy-than-art-thou attitude to their music. They refer to it as "inspired music in an uninspired music scene". Anyone with a trained ear can make immediate comparisons however. Their sound is very much like the Faint, Rapture, or Shiny Toy Guns. So where do they get off saying they're so inspired? There is a certain luster to Moving Units though. For all those fans of the Faint who thought they really dropped off in quality after Dance Macabre, Moving Units seems to give you a healthy alternative.Hexes for Exes utilizes programmed beats and is heavy of synthesizers.Really only one song on the album features the guitar as the main instrument and that is "Wrong Again" Easily one of the best tracks on the album, it's hook is impeccable and it breaks up the drone of synthesizers that by that point in the...

The people at Magnum PR have kindly given me an advance copy of the new Moving Units album entitled "Hexex For Exes", which is released 9th October on Metropolis Records. Background: Moving Units formed in 2001, and come from Los Angeles. They have released a self-titled E.P in 2002, and followed that up with their debut full length album in 2004 called "Dangerous Dreams". They have toured with many notable bands, such as The Pixies, Blur, and most recently Nine Inch Nails. Review: Moving Units return in 2007 with their second album called "Hexes For Exes". And what an album it is. I previously hadn't heard of the band before, but instantly became a fan while listening to opening track and first single "Pink Thoughts". This first song sets the tone for the album, a strong drum beat, quirky guitars, synths, and dark revealing vocals. It is a sonic mix of Indie undertones crossed with Electronica. For me what really stands out and sets the band apart is the production on this record. ...
