MTNL Launches IPTV In Delhi & 3G In Mumbai
2009-05-18 06:42:00
MTNL has launched Television over IP (IPTV)  in Delhi after three years of soft launch in October 2006. IPTV is a service using which people can watch TV over broadband using Intenet Protocol(IP). This feature is generally useful by users who has already subscribed for broadband and don’t want to pay huge fees for the television service over conventional cable or using DTH. In this service the television channels are encoded in IP format delivered using a set top box. IPTV services offer many other features like video on demand, replay on demand , play / pause channels at any moment of time etc. With the launch of IPTV,  MTNL jumped into the triple play bandwagon started by Airtel in January 2009. Now MTNL is offering telephone service, broadband service and IPTV using a single connection.MTNL is offering 150 channels over IPTV including movies on demand  and interactive search. Addition of  IPTV in MTNL bouquet seems a nice addition but the success of this service is hig...

Film: Slumdog MillionaireCast: Dev Patel, Anil Kapoor, Irfan Khan, Freida PintoDirector: Danny Boyle/Lovleen TandonWritten By: Simon Beaufoy/ Vikas SwarupRating: ***Well, well, well, something's gone terribly right for this film that calls itself 'Slumdog Millionaire' which stars a new comer English Babu, Desi boy, Dev Patel along with some not-so-big-names from our good ole' Bollywood, namely, Anil Kapoor, Irfan Khan, Shaurabh Shukla, Freida Pinto, etc, etc. Let me get this straight in the beginning that I liked the film-the English Version of it but... and there's a big BUT. I did not like the hype surrounding this film at all. I mean winning the Golden Globes and all, getting 10 Oscar nominations- Aw! come on!... puhlease...I think this film, though shot entirely in Mumbai is not a film for the people of Mumbai or any part of India. It is a film for the west and the people from the west who have a certain image of India and who have certain biases about the city which is con...

I am writing this response to the lively discussion that is going on in our shoutbox about terrorism. My response to comments from cvrk and others...What we see in most of the Middle East and North Africa, no doubt is terrorism, but of a civil war variety, barring what goes on in Palestine/Israel, which is pure civil war cum terrorism going hand in hand. The issue is not whether or not there is terrorism in those places. The issue on the table is: Is the rule of law prevailing there, to be dismissed as regressive? When heinous crimes are committed, would it not be time to take a re-look at our humanitarian outlook of the rule of law? I think a time has come for the entire humanity to reconsider the definition of rule of law. Remember the fate meted out to William Wallace in the hands of the law of Longshanks? So heroically played out by Mel Gibson in Braveheart? Or remember Judge Dredd played by Sylvester Stallone? I wonder whether or not it is time we have such judges? Tell...
