What is at issue was the supposed "war crimes" that Staff Sergeant Wuterich and his team committed in the town of Haditha. The accusation was that in response to the death of one of their own, that they went out and shot down 24 innocent unarmed civilians in cold blood right out on the street. Now there was some reports (confidential criminal reports) that John Murtha simply took it upon himself to use as an example of the sort of thing that Marines are doing over in Iraq. He took the worst of the report and simply assumed it was true. That our marines randomly killed 24 innocent Iraqis to avenge the deaths of one of their own. He did so in spite of the fact that none of the Marines in question had been charged, stood trial, much less had been convicted.
