He achieved this success in his 116 test match against England in Kandy. He has now taken 709 wickets from 116 test matches which are one than the previous record of 708 held by Australian star bowler Shane Keith Warne. Muralitharan is only nine wickets away from surpassing retired Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne's world record of 708 to become the most successful bowler ever in the game.
