2008-04-01 15:16:00 Lippies with SPF... a necessity now that the sun is finally starting to shine again!Matahari Plumping Lip Gloss with SPF 15 - I've loved this product FOREVER... I used to get it at my tanning salon. It's glossy but not gooey and it totally plumps the pout. It's clear so it can be worn over virtually any colored lippy... AND it smells like vanilla! YUM!C.O. Bigelow's Lip Formula with SPF 15 - Sweet almond and cotton seed oil lend to all-day moisture. This has a waxier consistency so it's great for sun burned and wind burned lips. It's still glossy - just a bit more subdued... AND it protects against UVA and UVB rays... must-have lippy for the beach bag!Cherriflip Super Balm with SPF 15 - This is a great, simple gloss that truly stays on. Again, it's clear so you can wear it alone for a juicy pout, or over a colored lippy. To be honest, I have absolutely no idea where to buy this product but if anyone out there does, please let me know!Kiehl's Lip Balm with SPF 15 in Hue N...

My Favorite Things
2008-02-14 16:00:00 Happy Valentine's Day! Since I know you were all wondering what makes my heart flutter here's a partial list of my favorite things. Even one of these little guys is enough to make my day.1. Fresh sheets. Slipping my feet into fresh, crisp sheets makes me go "Ahhhhhh!" every time. It's one of the high points of my Friday evening (Friday is my cleaning day where I change all the sheets). If the sheets have been dried on my clothesline it's even better. If the sheets have been changed by my own personal maid that's how I know I've died and gone to heaven.2. Pasta. Any kind, any style, any shape. Well no, I take that back. One time Andrew and I went out to dinner at The Marx Brothers' Cafe and noticed squid ink pasta on the menu. What?? I was tempted to pester the waiter with questions like "What on earth would squid ink pasta look like? Are we talking black noodles here?" but I thought that would be too, too gauche and I refrained. Anyone have experience with thi...

2008-01-31 19:39:00 Marvis Jasmine Mint Toothpaste - This is NOT your ordinary toothpaste... It's like a holiday for your mouth.... delicious and delectable! "A sweet and cool touch of mint with the surprising charm of the floral note of jasmin." Other flavors include ginger, aquatic mint, and classic mint. PRICE TAG: $8.95Sweet Body Moisture Cleanser with Avocado - A fresh and creamy body wash from famed Korea beauty destination, The Face Shop. It suds like soap but doesn't over dry skin. And the scent is very calming... dare I say, clean. "Ultra hydrating body line formulated with Avocado that supplies extra emollient texture and skin-benefiting nutrients with subtlely sweet scent." PRICE TAG: N/AChanel Vitalumiere Satin Smoothing Fluid Makeup with SPF 15 - Similar to the Beauty Banter favorite, Laura Mercier's oil free tinted moisturizer, this foundation offers both coverage and moisture. 2008-01-17 00:21:00 I never used to get super excited about bath and body products for some strange reason. I'd buy tons of "different" shower gels but would never use them...the basic simple stuff would do. But for my birthday last August one of my friends (Nina... shout out!), bought me body scrubs and soap from The Body Shop. I figured "what the heck". Needless to say... it was gone in about a week flat and I am in love. So much in love that I ended up buying an entire gift set... for myself. :) So much in love that I buy individual Almond Body Butters for my desk at work so I'm never without it. The Almond Body Scrub is perfect. It makes your skin so smooth... kind of like if you rub sand on your arms and legs at the beach... (because yes, I do this when I'm at the beach!)I'm also in love with "Buffy the Backside Slayer" from LUSH. It's another product that leaves your skin beachy soft! (It makes your shower kind of slippery though... so... hold on tight... it's worth it!)All this talk about ...
I Like Some of My Favorite Things in Life
2008-01-15 01:49:00 Beautiful jewelry that look like diamonds of all colors but do not have to be a real diamond to make me happy. Yellow roses are the type of rose I like best something about a yellow rose is so lovely to me. Lying in bed while hearing it rain that makes me think about sweet sexy moments. I like taking a long hot shower that warms my spirit. Painting pictures that look like sunset on gorgeous summer night. Beautiful palomino colored horses with a golden body with a blaze and four white socks. I like being kissed outside while it snows a beautiful glitter of white. Camping while sitting at a campfire watching shooting stars. I like being surprised by moments in life. Something happening I didn?t expect to happen is so special to me it always makes my heart smile. - Miss Grace Cakes - Perfect Gift to Say, Thank You!

my favorite things: the flame edition
2007-11-16 15:36:00 Derfwad Manor put up a challenge: let's list a few of our favorite things. I started making a list, checked it twice and saw a theme developing...I have a thing for orange. MyChelle's Incredible Pumpkin Peel: It smells like heaven, contains no crazy chemicals and helps fade those unsightly red marks, post- 'you've got to be kidding me, I'm an adult for heaven's sake' breakouts. Not that I know anything about that. Fall leaves: I could walk everyday, rain or shine, if I am greeted by these lovelies.Mmmmm, sweet potato fries: Burgerville (in the mighty NW) sells 'em but I like to make them myself, in my oven. It makes me think they are low calorie and I'm all about having some illusions at this point. I like mine with BBQ sauce or hummus. And they are soft and easy to eat so they get an A+.Now, strictly speaking this is not orange. I've taught my kids that referring to red locks as 'orange' is rude, and dangerous. Them are fighting words. But look at this little girl. I lo...

2007-11-13 18:51:00 I was browsing online today & saw some more interesting items from this season's winter collection. I'd have to see these items up close & in person to make a more in-depth assessment, but they look cute from the pictures! The Kelly jacket has a very 60's vintage feel. These tartan ballet flats are cute in an unorthodox sort of way.OK, that's it for now!

2007-10-29 11:52:00 I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that two generations went without seeing a World Championship won by the Boston Red Sox, but by the age of 21, I get to see and cherish two. Amazing. I feel so blessed. So, if anyone from the Red Sox organization reads this, thank you for giving me

2007-10-16 05:28:00 We already have the most awesomest printer (the Kodak EasyShare 5300)... but since we made everyone else work so hard for this contest, we decided it would only be fair to do a project ourselves. Of course, I can't win the contest... but I'm sending in a bogus entry just for kicks! I love doing creative projects (and as you can see, I work best under pressure... which is why this post is up just hours before the contest deadline!). The kids enjoy letting mom work herself up into a deadline panic and then getting a WHOLE DAY OFF to work to their little hearts content on ARTSY-FARTSY stuff.Today was a fun-day. We did our Bible, Devotional, Math... and then we jumped in the car with our printed photos and made our way to the teacher's supply store. They laminated our pictures for our project and we picked out some piggy-pink butcher block paper (since Morgan's room is mainly pink). We had fun cutting laminated squares out. The scissors slide on lamination (which is really groovy if...

These are a few of my favorite things...
2007-09-19 01:28:00 I am naturally drawn to bright colors, shapes, and textures. Whether it be for inspiration for my artwork, or items I choose to decorate my home with, the following are just a few of my favorite things. Their beauty, uniqueness, vibrant color, and the design of these items are just a few of the elements that capture my eye.1. "Flaming June" by Lord Frederic Leighton [English Classicist Painter and Sculptor, 1830-1896]. There is just something about the colors he's chosen, the bright coral color of her dress contrasted by the soft pinks of her skin and the ivory of the architectural elements. I'm also attracted to the way the fabric in her dress flows softly, draping over her body appearing almost transparent in some areas. I can't imagine the amount of time and work that went into the intricate detail of this painting. For more on Leighton, visit Wikipedia's page on the artist.Photo: Roger Beau2. 2007-09-13 21:54:00 In memory of the late founder, Anita Roddick, we're going to post on our favorite The Body Shop products...Coconut Body Butter: A delicious treat for your body! All of the body butters are divine but the coconut is our favorite... it reminds us of a tropical Island vacation!"An intensive, creamy all-over body moisturizer. It absorbs into the skin easily, helping to condition, soften and smooth the skin. Once you get over the indulgent tropical scent, slick this on and be transported all over again."White Musk Sumptuous Silk Shower Gel: I used to use this back in high school - the scent helped to wake me up when not even my alarm could get me out of bed! There's something very nostalgic about this product... it's pretty close to the perfect shower gel!"A sumptuously sensual soap-free body cleanser with a silky smooth gel texture that creates a creamy, foamy lather in the shower and leaves skin feeling cleansed, refreshed and subtly scented with the soft and velvety signature Whit...

2007-07-26 17:35:00 Well, no sooner then I'd gotten my Blogging By Mail box off to the post office, then mine arrived in the mail. Summer Do's and Don'ts... A few of my favorite things....
2007-07-10 20:59:00 DO let your face soak in the salt water. Salt water is a natural drying agent - extracting those black heads and healing any sort of acne.DON'T let your hair soak in the salt water. The ocean strips your hair of it's color and shine AND dries it out. Try spraying some sort of hair defense spray (We're loving Pureology's Antifade Complex UV Hair Colour Defense! Thanks to the Silver Spoon Beach House, I was given a sample of this color protection spray. It's amazing! Helping to reduce breakage and protect your hair from the sun and salt.)DO layer your face and lips with Sunblock! Try Lancome's SÔLEIL ULTRA EXPERT SUN CARE - SPF 50 Sunscreen Face Cream for Sensitive Skin! To completely prevent wrinkles and sunspots, you need a high SPF!DON'T leave a white residue (or any color) of sun protection ANYWHERE on your face (this includes lips!) Colored zinc is soooo 1990's!DO wear lighter, more sheer colors on the face. Try Mark by Avon's Summer line. The Shimmer and Shine tube...

2007-06-11 20:38:00 I've decided that each month I'm going to do a post of a few of my favorite beauty "things" from that month...As always my fellow beauty whores, if you have suggestions or recommendations, let us know by leaving a comment in the comment box below!ReVive Lip & Perioral Renewal Cream: Why? Because it restores the moisture in my lips like no other lip cream out there. It's also meant to be used around the mouth to nourish and fill in cracks, lines and wrinkles. It's the perfect product to use prior to a red lippy 'cause it doesn't let the lippy bleed! One huge drawback.... the PRICETAG: $115.00 (but if you are a serious victim of dry lips, this is a must-have product to add to your beauty regimine).Malibu Secret Body Treatment: Why? Because it smells tropical - jasmine, old rose and gardenia - (and all the boys notice) and it feels like a cool souffle layered onto my skin! The company says that it is, "the first body lotion that contains ETF a patented biopeptide, biotech versio...

2007-03-15 21:31:00 I'm not wild about memes. Not even sure how to pronounce the word. But another nurse asked me to do this. Another L&D nurse. So I'll do it. Because even though I've never met labornurse in person, I know I can trust her. I know what she does everyday at work and I read her blog.Four things that I can't live without as a nurse and one thing that I covet:1) My nurse peeps. I know that the nurses I work with will come to my aid in an emergency, will have my back in a crisis, and will think through patient care with me when I'm just not sure what to do next. And they're good company on those slow nights when we sit around the nurses' station and tell each other stories.2) The good will of the patient care techs and surgical techs. On our unit, if you have a low-risk delivery, then the first person to evaluate your baby is a PCT. I rely on this evaluation. I trust these women to let me know what's up with that newborn. Is the baby fine? Do I need the team? I hope th...

2007-03-14 21:40:00 It's been a while, but well worth the wait (I hope!)On this beautiful and sunny Wednesday afternoon, I am going to share with you, fellow beauty whores, a few of my favorite things:The Body Shop Born Lippy Strawberry Lip Balm - Why? Because it smells fresh, goes on smooth, actually moisturizes (yea!!!) and leaves the lips with the slightest touch of rouge... in other words, I can wear it daily without looking made-up but still looking magnificent.Kevin Aucoin Super Soft Buff Powder Brush- Why? Because it is cut flat on top so, once dipped in your favorite blush, it covers the perfect amount of cheek... in other words, I don't need to play the guessing game - where do I put the blush, how far up, etc. This brush does all the dirty work for me!Cococare Coconut Moisturing Oil - Why? Because it's a nice break from the old lotion routine. AND it smells simply delicious. And it leaves skin soft, smooth and shiny (like a wrestler, but sexy). And the best part is, it's cheap!... in ot...

A Few Of My Favorite Things
2006-12-12 14:28:02 Anyone who knows me, knows that my favorite movie of all time is The Sound of Music. It used to come on television every single year and I rarely missed a year. A few years ago someone, the girls I think, bought me the anniversary edition on DVD. I was thrilled. I never tire of it. It’s sort of like Brad’s obsession with The Godfather. Doesn’t matter how many times it’s been viewed, it will never be enough times. This year things are a bit tight when it comes to monetary endowment, so we are buying and making little things for gifts to each other. The things are favorite things, even as simple as gum, that makes each of us happy in small ways. We’ve tried very hard to get away from the commercialization of Christmas as well, and the past few years we’ve done things simply. Both Brad and I grew up in families that stressed the importance of the true meaning of Christmas, not what was under your tree. Some years in our respective families, there was...
